    1UP Snedeker/Koepka v Stenson/Fitzpatrick (13)

The 14th hole is about to deliver Europe a point one would think. Matt Fitzpatrick played an absolute stunner from the middle of the fairway, clubbing to within two feet for what looks like a certain birdie. The US have 15ft for the same.

    Mickelson/Fowler v McIlroy/Pieters 2UP (14)

Phil Mickelson finds himself faced by a tree on 15, a 405 yard par four. He's in all sorts of trouble and swaps clubs a handful of times as he ponders. The synapses are sizzling in that head as he seeks an answer. The only option is to chip, evade branches and run the ball to the green. The first part works but the run is not generous and the ball rests on the upslope near water.

A Europe win on this hole would move us dormie.

    4UP Reed/Spieth v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello (11)

To the 11th, where Spieth misses with his birdie attempt. Cabrera-Bello grazes the hole with his birdie attempt, before Garcia misses a tiddler. It was a bit naughty of Reed and Spieth asking them to putt out in the first place. Wood has a longun to win the hole at 12, but it fades at the last, before Zach Johnson bends in a clutch putt for the half.

    1UP Snedeker/Koepka v Stenson/Fitzpatrick (13)

Lots of drama here. Matt hit a poor shot and it was a good recovery from Stenson, but I fancied Snedeker for that one.

It was a fantastic shot from Brooks Koepka having shanked one at the last, he must have felt a little bit of pressure.

This is a pivotal game, our boys have played very well and it is a very closely-fought contest. This is an important match.

    1UP Snedeker/Koepka v Stenson/Fitzpatrick (13)

Europe pay the price for a pushed Matthew Fitzpatrick tee shot on the par-three 11th. He got that swing all wrong and the result is Brand Snedeker with putter in hand to seal the hole from around six feet. Snedeker explodes into life as his ball disappears and that's a key lead with the round ebbing away.

    Mickelson/Fowler v McIlroy/Pieters 2UP (14)

Thomas Pieters ate too many Weetabix and goes through the fairway into rough on 15. Rickie Fowler trying to draw the ball slightly but he doesn't like it, a shake of the head.

It's time for turn for home, four holes lead back to the clubhouse. The first of them is straight forward - the further your tee shot the nicer your shot into the green. Players will want to it a short wedge in to ensure they are not flirting with longer irons, bring the pond more into play.

It is getting down to the end of these matches and even though these players look like they are relaxed, inside they know it is getting down to business.

    Mickelson/Fowler v McIlroy/Pieters 2UP (14)

The top match is flowing back and forth, Rory McIlroy has six to eight feet to win the hole but pulls it miserably. A waste. But Rickie Fowler and Phil Mickelson have hardly been consistent and so this my friends is a buffet, miss and still be fed. Rickie Fowler misses the putt for a halve and that's two up with four to play.

To the putting shootout on 12 and Matt Fitzpatrick's caddie knows the importance as he gets on the ground, face down, to look down the line of the putt. His efforts are not rewarded as the European misses. Brooks Koepka - poor by the US team's standards with just the $7m won on Tour - sends his putt past. Neither of these efforts leave a concession.

Brand Snedeker - missed one like this on 11 - it's in, just. Rolled around the cup and fell. Henrik Stenson, hole halved.

Oh my goodness, Spieth has missed. The Europeans really have to capitalise on this now and get back in this match.

    3UP Reed/Spieth v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello (10)

Rose with his third at the par-five 11th and he's just outside the USA's approach. Walker has a putt to win the hole but that never looked in, so Europe retain their two-hole lead. Back at 10, Spieth pulls his birdie putt and they walk off with a half.

  16. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

Henrik Stenson finds the green with a safe chip from the trees, it's a putting shootout on 12 for that hole and the chance to lead.

Rory McIlroy has just slammed a drive up 14. Brutal hitting.

I have hit many shanks and it is not something you like to do. They pop out of the blue sometimes. It is a lack of concentration, really.

Brooks Koepka has been very lucky, hitting a shot into a stand and it rebounds to land a few feet short of water. An absolute shank. He's got so lucky and Brandt Snedeker chips on in three.

Europe are in trouble, in the trees for two and Henrik Stenson faces a horrible chip.

    3UP Reed/Spieth v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello (9)

Garcia has found the short stuff with his second at 10 but it's not as good as this from Reed, who sticks his approach to within eight feet. Europe struggling to stand up to this deluge of hitting from Reed and Spieth.
