Good work gents. Darren Clarke would be proud of you. We are.
Spieth/Reed A/S Garcia/Cabrera-Bello
Anything you can do. Reed follows Garcia to the flag, two balls left on the green surrounding the pin, ready to strike. In the third match, Chris Wood has got Europe to the green in two on the monster par five.
Mickelson/Fowler v McIlroy/Pieters 3UP (5)
Well Phil, you're known as a bit of a wizard around the green so show us what Mickelson touch you can put on this.
Lefty is having to play right handed while up against a fence. This is the type of thing where you or I would swing and fall over given the alien nature of the required swing and distinct lack of balance. Not Phil, he gets it out of there but it's chipped over the green. Probably as good as he could muster.
Rory McIlroy applauds but knows this is Europe's hole if he chips close. He does. Surely they will close out? The US make a bogey five. "That's good man," says Mickelson to Thomas Pieters. That's American for no need to putt. Hole conceded.
Spieth/Reed A/S Garcia/Cabrera-Bello (1)
Sergio Garcia has had his beans for breakfast this morning. First the putt on the first, now an approach to the second that will leave Rafa with 10 feet or so for birdie. Game on in the bottom match.
United States 5-3 Europe

They have set this course up for guys who can hit it way off line - it appears if you hit it 30 yards off line you have a chance of hitting the green.
There is very little rough and the Americans are getting away with some wild shots. But it is a show, entertainment, and we are having a great time.

Spieth/Reed A/S Garcia/Cabrera-Bello
Oh Sergio. Just when Europe need a bit of magic he holes from 12 feet to ensure he and Cabrera-Bello get a half from the first. Reed knocks in from just outside gimme distance. The standard so far today has already been better than the whole of yesterday morning.
Mickelson/Fowler v McIlroy/Pieters 2UP (4)
I like this Thomas Pieters character. He's barely cut his Ryder Cup teeth and here he is trying to drive the green on a par four. He keeps it straight enough and finds the fringes of the putting surface. Rickie Fowler tries to mirror the achievement but slams his ball wide.
The US are getting peppered in this match. To think they got the crowd into a frenzy with birdie on one. It's just not happened since.
Spieth/Reed v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello
Jordan Spieth! He's at it again. From the first fairway, almost tickling the pin and leaving Patrick Reed nothing for a birdie. Europe will probably have to hole from about 15 feet for a half.
Mickelson/Fowler v McIlroy/Pieters 2UP (4)
On the fourth drag the pairing of Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler find sand. It's up to Fowler to dig them out but he does what I tend to do in the bunker, open the club face too much and slice widely. Club hacker stuff from Rickie. Phil Mickelson can't rescue things but moves the ball close and hence Europe have two putts for the win. Job done. Thomas Pieters rolls the ball close enough for a concession.
Walker/Z Johnson A/S Rose/Wood
Rose from the second fairway. Line has it right at the pin, but dropping short and spinning backwards. Very lengthy for birdie. Zach Johnson from a very similar position pulls out a rozzer. Just past the pin, stopping. Birdie chance.

Just discussing the origins of the word 'doozy', Richard. A quick Google says it is "something outstanding or unique of its kind". I like it, one to add to the repertoire...
Spieth/Reed v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello
Just like yesterday, Patrick Reed is miles too hard to be wearing a jumper in the early morning. He reveals US shirts that are borrowed from Dennis the Menace. Garcia tugs his drive slightly left, but should be OK in the first cut. Reed, built like a prop forward, nails it on to the posh bit.

Early morning sun burning through at Hazeltine, dew still heavy on the fairways and polished greens, early hats and gloves gradually being swapped for sunglasses and sun-visors. McIlroy and Pieters dressed in a dull dark beige but lighting up the course; Mickelson and Fowler in bright white trousers but in the shade in this foursomes contest thus far.
Walker/Z Johnson A/S Rose/Wood
Surgeon's touch from Justin Rose at the back of the first green after a lovely putt from Zach Johnson. First hole halved in par.
1UP Snedeker/Koepka v Stenson/Fitzpatrick (2)
Henrik Stenson has a look at birdie and a putt which will win this second hole. Matt Fitzpatrick's solid approach set this up nicely. It will break but Stenson gets his read wrong and Europe cannot pull back to level.
Mickelson/Fowler v McIlroy/Pieters 1UP (3)
Europe have the advantage on the third green, 25ft away for three blows, the US 10ft or so for four. Rickie Fowler pumped an iron long to leave Phil Mickelson scrambling.
We arrive at the shootout on the green, Rory McIlroy up first to win the hole in a birdie. He leaves it stone dead. Fowler must hole out... gutsy. A very gutsy save. Hats off to him.
