-6 Kisner (11); -4 Points (10)
Kevin Kisner still leads and he could be sitting very comfortably in the clubhouse if he can play the final seven holes without too many problems. The 33-year-old world number 25, whose best finish in the Championship was tied for 18th last year, is still six under after 11.
Rose +5 (12)
Justin Rose is hanging in there though, holing out for par from five feet to remain at five over after 12, and if he can get one back he might just make it through to the weekend. The projected cut has moved to plus four.
It has been hard going for the majority of the field, but 49-year-old Paul Claxton currently props up the leaderboard on 24 over. He qualified via the PGA Professional Championship and played the first nine today in 46, 11 over, after three double bogeys and only one par.
-3 Fowler; +2 Rahm, McIlroy
McIlroy in the bunker at the 185-yard fourth, his 13th. His escape leaves him a tricky seven footer but in she goes and he stays at plus two. Rahm, with that red mallet putter favoured by many players, rolls one up from the apron that threatens the hole but it's a par to keep him also at two over. A neat up and down from Fowler and he's five shots better off.

Paul Christie: Been saying for the past year McIlroy's short game simply not good enough to win big tournaments. He needs help.
Mickelson +11 (11)
The cut is predicted around three over and that's going to be a few too many for crowd favourite Phil Mickelson, who had that frustrating 78 yesterday and is three over today, plus 11 for the Championship
-3 Fowler (12); Rahm +2 (12)
Rahm, who was three under yesterday, hit a provisional ball after a wild drive but he has still made par as has Fowler, who is very handily placed three behind leader Kisner.

McIlroy +2 (12)
McIlroy's drive at the third, his 12th, is tight down the left. The par putt from three feet seemed to bobble a bit and it has missed it on the right. Back to back bogeys for Rory.
Rachael Adshead, BBC Weather forecaster: "I can see some thunderstorms not far at ALL to the west of Quail Hollow at the moment, feeding up from the south. It looks like the local airport is forecasting a risk of these storms after around 21:00 BST.
"I think you’ll be quite unlikely not to catch one, so be prepared! They continue to be a risk over the weekend too, with Sunday likely to be the worst day for it."
As always there seems to be the threat of thunderstorms so let's get some guidance from our friends at the weather centre.
Kuchar +2 (10)
Another shot goes for Kuchar, he fails to get up and down from just off the green at the mammoth first hole and he's two over for the Championship now.

Inside the player and family dining area within the clubhouse at Quail Hollow. I can highly recommend the lobster rolls...
Fowler -3 (11), McIlroy +1 (11), Rahm +2 (11)
A nice chip from Rory but he's still left with a nine footer to save par. Is that coming back? Is it? No! McIlroy's putt stays left and that's his first bogey of the day. He'll be disappointed to be back where he's started, particularly with how well he has played from the tee.
Rahm and Fowler both miss their birdie putts. Perhaps these pin positions are trickier than they look? Here's where the holes are placed today...

McIlroy E (10)
That's another iffy iron shot from Rory. He drives into the short rough just off the fairway on the second hole and then hits his second shot way right of the green into a little hollow. He's faced with a tricky chip from there.
Much better from Spaniard Rahm who finds the heart of the putting surface to leave a 20 foot birdie opportunity. Fowler too will have a chance to pick up a shot after also finding the green.
Leader: Kisner -6 (9)
-4 Olesen, Points (9)
-3 Fowler (10), Murray, Woodland, Koepka, Stroud
Selected others:-2 Casey, -1 Jordan Smith (7), Fleetwood, E McIlroy (10), +1 Spieth, Kuchar (9) +2 Rahm (10)
Smith -1 (7)
In an instant the morning's good work of England's Jordan Smith has been wiped out. He's just bogeyed 15 and 16 to move back to -1 where he started the day.
D.A. Points' eventful round continues as he makes a third birdie in eight holes which, along with two bogeys, means he moves into a tie for second at -4.
Fowler -3 (10), McIlroy E (10), Rahm +2 (10)
Jon Rahm has chance for his second birdie of the day and first since the opening hole of his round but his putt doesn't have enough ooomf to reach the cup at the front of this first green.
Now then. Over to Rory. Can he save par after his trip into the sand? He sure can. A decent putt from around eight feet.
Fowler too finishes off so it's pars all-round. The American still the best in this group at three behind leader Kisner.
