    Salas 1UP v Ewart Shadoff (After 17)

Huge cheers greet American Lizette Salas and Jodi Ewart Shadoff as they stroll up to the 18th green.

Salas will putt first and has the chance for glory. The win is all-but guaranteed but if this drops the United States' win in the 2017 Solheim Cup will be confirmed.

The Iowa course drops silent. Here she comes...

The cameras have picked out Georgia Hall who is being consoled by her captain Annika Sorenstam. A quite brilliant performance from the 21-year-old this week despite her defeat to Georgia Hall back. Hall will be around in European teams for a long time to come.

Catriona Matthew's victory over Stacy Lewis caps a remarkable contribution for the late replacement for Suzann Pettersen. She came from three down after eleven to land a full point. Over the week she collected three out of four points, an outstanding haul for the 47 year old. Matthew is favourite to be Europe's next skipper, maybe she should be player/captain at Gleneagles?

There are hugs around the US team. They have done the maths. The United States now lead by 13½ points to 8½. With Lizette Salas one up with one to play that guarantees that the US will reach the 14 points they need to retain the trophy.

Just wide again! Yin wanted the glory. She attacked her putt but it stays right of the hole. Gasps from the crowd.

But Yin finishes off her return putt another match halved.

Yin v Icher All square (After 17 holes)

On to the 18th with the Yin/Icher match all square.

Both players have found the green in two but it will be Europe's Icher to putt first from 25 or 30 feet.

The crowd think this could be where the United States' win is sealed. The green on the final hole is still packed.

A great effort from Icher as her putt cuddles up to the hole but it doesn't drop. That means Angel Yin has a putt for the United States to retain the Solheim Cup...

    US 13 - 8 Europe

Well, well. There's two matches back quick for Europe. Things are still looking bleak but Annika Sorenstram's team are not giving up.

Angel Yin and France's Karine Icher are heading down the 18th. Could that be the match which seals the win for the United States?

    USA 13 - 8 Europe

Another point for Europe. The US lead is back at five. Catriona Matthew has a brilliant smile on her face. Remember she was not meant to play this week until an injury to Suzann Pettersen. The Scot wins her match against Stacy Lewis with another solid par on the 18th having trailed all the way until the 15th.

    Lewis v Matthew 1 UP (After 17)

Backs to the wall stuff for Europe now but Catriona Matthew is doing what is required. The Scot makes a solid par while her opponent Stacy Lewis misses a relatively short putt and makes bogey. Matthew is now one up going as they head to the 18th with USA a win away.

    Thompson v Nordqvist - Halved

United States Lexi Thompson talking to Sky Sports after her thrilling halved match against Anna Nordqvist: "I'm very proud of myself. It was a really bad front nine but Juli (Inkster) was keeping my head up. To be the first match was a great honour. I wanted to win the full point for my country but I did my best."

    US 13 - 6 Europe

Is there any way Europe can do this?

Catriona Matthew is all square with Stacy Lewis in the next match on the course after 16 holes. If the United States don't win that one then it may be Angel Yin who clinches victory as she is one up on Karine Icher after 15.

    USA 13 - 6 Europe

That was a pretty wretched few minutes for the European team. They have taken two and a half points from the top three matches. The end is nigh. The United States need one point to retain and one and half to win outright.

I think this is now a matter of who will be the player to hit that winning putt.

Creamer misses but it's good enough for her next to be conceded.

A nasty putt for Hall now for a half point. No! The rookie is tentative and the ball dribbles wide. A horrible way to lose.

Another point for the United States.
