    Fleetwood -9 (18)

Tommy Fleetwood rolls home a par putt from close range for a round of 74 - three over for the day.

He finishes second. That's his second second-place finish in a major following last year's US Open.

Well done Tommy. Knocking on the door young man.

What a welcome. What a moment for Shane Lowry. He talked up soaking up that incredible atmosphere yesterday because he wasn’t sure if he’d ever experience something like it again. He’s got it and more today. Arms in the air, he is soaking it up to the max! Just brilliant.

Go on Shane... cry... you know you want to.

Don't be brave, let it out...

    There is carnage.

Shane Lowry whacks one up to the 18th green and his ball rests on the fringe of the green. This, he decides, means the job is done and his arms are thrown aloft.

He hugs his caddie and is heard saying "oh my God."

He waves right, he waves left. The stewards erect a rope across the fairway and he ducks under it. Those up at the green see him emerge and with their look at the champion, they roar from deep.

Huge noise for a huge, huge display.

  5. Westy joy, JB's meltdown...published at 18:05 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Koepka -6 (18) Holmes +6 (18)

Brooks Koepka made par on 18. That means Lee Westwood is in The Masters next year.

JB Holmes made six on 17 and six at the last. That left him 16 over for the day. That's 16 over and a fall from 10 under par to six over.

    Colossal crumbling. Poor fella.

The Irish fans are going wild. What a scene. What an absolute scene. Absolute scenes that's what we say isn't it?!

What a moment for Shane and the whole of Ireland. He can just thrill in the joy of the 18th hole.

  8. Lap it up young man...published at 18:02 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

Shane Lowry looks calm as he smiles and chats to the caddie. Up on the green ahead of him the "ole, ole, ole, ole" chant rings out.

What must he be feeling? All those balls he's hit on the range over the years, all the putts, all the dreaming, wishing and contemplating what might be.

He looks to the sky and puffs out his cheeks. The caddie taps him on the chest.

Lap it up young man, few get to walk steps like you are now.

What happens if Shane takes a 14 on the 18th. Does the engraver resort to Tip-ex just to get us through the presentation.

  10. Gone early...published at 17:57 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

The dude who engraves the trophy has gone early. He's put Lowry's name on it. That's official.

A par for Shane Lowry on 17, job done.

Tommy Fleetwood, three footer, in. Par.

We go to 18. Lowry has six shots in his pocket.

Fans are trying to flood down the 17th fairway behind Shane Lowry.

The stewards have some job on here!

  13. Fowler and Rose in the clubhousepublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Fowler -5 (74), Rose -1 (79)

Rickie Fowler makes a decent fist of a monster birdie putt at the last, but has to be content with a short knock-in for par and a 74. Don't forget he went out of bounds off the tee at the first.

Justin Rose's last day story got worse as it wore on and he ends with an eight-over final round.

Worth keeping an eye on. Lee Westwood will finish in the top four if Brooks doesn't make birdie on 18. That would put him in the Masters as the top four get there.

Westy finished six under, Brooks is on the same mark.

Interestingly they actually manipulated the order and even though Tommy was closer he suggested putting first so Shane could receive the applause from the fans.

  16. Postpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

Tour de France kind of scenes as Shane Lowry walks to the 17th tee. There's barely a path for him to walk on as there are just thousands of people all trying to touch him and soak up some of his magic potion.

Even Tommy Fleetwood's caddie moves to put an arm around him in some sort of bodyguard move.

    Rowdy out there.

    Finau -7 (18)

Tony Finau is on TV talking about his round. He has a grey cap on which I think is made of leather. I bought a leather cap once while on holiday in Spain aged 11. I was ahead of the curve.

He's finished seven under in an Open though. You win Tony.

The “oles” have started! It’s going to be party time down the 17th and 18th for the Royal Portrush fans.

Tommy Fleetwood’s caddie was furious with some fans who wouldn’t quiet down while his charge was lining up at 16. There was a ripple or applause after the Englishman putted for par.

But it’s the Shane Lowry show.

Shane Lowry was short of the 16th green, Tommy Fleetwood was left of it. They both lag up and leave around four foot for par.

Fleetwood rolls in off the right edge, Lowry wipes his putter head with his hand and pours the ball in there.

    A hole chalked off.

    "Ole, ole, ole, ole...."

The 16th isn’t called Calamity Corner for no reason - and there was a strong wind is blowing directly back towards the tee box for Shane Lowry. Nerves of an Open champion.
