Could be looking out onto the Med with this view.

About 15 yachts and speedboats are bobbing about on Lake Michigan next to the 17th green. There is even a kayaker there.

Spotted the party boat. The deck is packed with people in swimwear and holding ice cold beers.

    1UP Thomas & Spieth v Hovland & Wiesberger (17)

"Fore!" shouts Viktor Hovland, hanging his right arm in the air. It comes up well short of the fans flanking the hole but will test the touch of Bernd Wiesberger.

Jordan Spieth prods his on to the fairway, catching a bit of breeze on its way.

    1UP Thomas & Spieth v Hovland & Wiesberger (17)

"Doooh!" says Jordan Spieth, channeling an American great. His bunker shot can't quite clear the bank. Justin Thomas tries his luck from the long grass and pops one right up in the air, he's almost tempted to whack it like a baseball but grabs it instead to concede the hole.

Europe back within one heading to the last...

The walkway between the 15th green and 16th tee is the tightest one on the back half - a fantastic vantage point for the fans to see the players close up.

It’s also a chance for a member of the European entourage to proudly wave his blue and yellow-starred scarf above his head.

Pelters are duly dished out from the red, white and blue masses. All good natured though, it must be said.

Barely heard anything that has overstepped the mark.

“Rahm, you suck!” is about as bad as it’s been.

    2UP Thomas & Spieth v Hovland & Wiesberger (16)

Viktor Hovland and Bernd Wiesberger need to come up with something special now just to salvage half a point...

Justin Thomas glides his tee shot at the par-three 17th left, watching on as it trots down the bank like a mountain goat into the bunker below. Awkward shot coming up for his mate Jordan Spieth.

Bernd Wiesberger nails his into the middle of the green and Europe have a chance to pull one back.

Jon Rahm & Sergio GarciaImage source, Getty Images

Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia have been chatting to Sky Sports about their victory in Saturday's opening foursomes...

Rahm: "It means a lot. it is a long race. We were three down early. If there is any point you want to be three down it is then because you have 15 holes to make it up.

"We got going starting on the sixth when we woke up and that's when we started playing some good golf.

"Besides a couple of mistakes here and there in the windy conditions and the cold we played unbelievable from six on and took advantage of the moments we had and a couple of breaks our way to win."

Garcia: "I think for me personally [the pivotal moment was] the tee shot on five because I finally found my swing again but when it comes done to the match the eighth hole was big.

"Seven was big but the putt on eight really got me going. We then got on a great stretch with birdies and chip-ins."

  11. USA win 2&1published at 17:24 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    2&1 Johnson & Morikawa v Casey & Hatton (F)

Hatton has a 15-footer to take the match down the 18th but the swinging right-to-lefter just sails by the edge, and it leaves Morikawa with five feet to win the match.

And the Open champion makes no mistake!

    3UP Cantlay & Schauffele v Westwood & Fitzpatrick

Sensational play from Schauffele - and that is another dagger into the heart of the Europeans.

Quite brilliant and that is a birdie in the books already - Europe have a 35 footer to avoid going three down in this match.

And it will fall to Lee Westwood - who has just not been able to hole the putts that have counted.

It comes up just short. The American boys march off to the 16th three up with three holes to go.

    2Up Thomas & Spieth v Hovland & Wiesberger (16)

Lovely putt from Bernd Wiesberger, straight into the heart of the cup from 12 feet. He's done his bit, making birdie, but if Jordan Spieth holes out here from around eight feet the Americans will win the hole with a superb eagle.

He nails it! Spieth raises his putter to the sky in celebration, Justin Thomas beats his chest and shouts "come on, baby!" before cupping his ear to soak in the applause.

    1Up Thomas & Spieth v Hovland & Wiesberger (15)

Viktor Hovland drags his tee shot left this time, giving it a nice view of the Lake Michigan shoreline as he does. It gives Bernd Wiesberger a long old knock to the green, too long it proves.

Jordan Spieth finds the fairway and frat buddy Justin Thomas flicks a long iron at it, catching the bank to the left of the green and watching it wriggle on down to the smooth stuff.

Hovland pops a little wedge just behind the Americans' ball but Europe have taken one more shot to get there.

  15. USA go dormie twopublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    2UP Johnson & Morikawa v Casey & Hatton (16)

Hatton and Casey have just let this go after doing so well to drag it back and a mistake again means they can only par the 16th.

It leaves Johnson with a simple short putt to halve the hole and go dormie two as they stay 2UP with two holes to play.

You know, there was a time when Johnson's putting and short game was his downfall, but it's now arguably his biggest strength - he's rock solid with the putter and his wedge play is right up there with the best in the business.

    2UP Cantlay & Schauffele & Westwood & Fitzpatrick

Lee Westwood's approach on the 14th just skips off the back - not bad.

The Americans are just in a slight spot of bother and this is a challenge from Cantlay - it comes up onto the putting surface - but it comes up about 35-40 feet to virtual silence. The crowd knows. They know.

Par in the bank for the Americans and now all eyes on Matt Fitzpatrick trying for a birdie.

It is not to be and the hole is halved.

The score stays the same and we have four holes to go. Europe running out of holes all around here.

  18. Garcia & Rahm win 3&1published at 17:12 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 3&1 (F)

Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger have had enough after the rookie's putt pulls up short.

The hats come off and they shake hands and offer their congratulations to Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm.

The Spaniards share an embrace. They have produced an incredible response to going three down after three holes.

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 2UP (17)

Sensible golf from Sergio Garcia on the 17th. He lands his ball firmly on the green at the intimidating par three and invites his opponents to go better.

Daniel Berger can't. He sprays his ball right and to compound matters Brooks Koepka then struggles to clip his ball over a swale, watching it stop in its tracks some 25 feet from the cup.

Garcia up again, judges his putt well trickling it over and watching it speed up off the ridge before stopping a few feet left of the hole.

Koepka not happy and calls for a second opinion

Brooks Koepka was pretty mad with not one but two referees who refused to give him a free drop out of a bush.

Plenty was said - with Daniel Berger getting especially heated about the situation, and with Koepka seemingly worried about damaging his wrist if he hit a drain with his follow through.

But surprise, surprise, he was nowhere near it when he played a fabulous shot out.

It's not quite a scene we're used to seeing in golf, but did they overstep the mark?

Thumbs up for yes, they overstepped the mark.

Thumbs down for no, they did nothing wrong.
