  1. Spieth & Thomas go 1UPpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    1Up Thomas & Spieth v Hovland & Wiesberger (15)

Tidy approach from Bernd Wiesberger, he might just have given Viktor Hovland enough of a sniff here to halve the hole... a seven-footer for par, the Norwegian holed one of these earlier.

Justin Thomas rolls his putt to within a dustbin lid and that heaves even more pressure on.

Hovland rolls it pin-bound, but it stays up and the hollers from the crowd tell you the Americans are in front!

  2. Garcia & Rahm extend their leadpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 2UP (16)

Jon Rahm + Three-foot putt = Never. In. Doubt.

An eagle it is. The Europeans lead by two holes.

    Thomas & Spieth A/S Hovland & Wiesberger (14)

Bernd Wiesberger and Viktor Hovland are having to grind a bit at the moment. The Austrian whips a drive left into the rough at the 492-yard par-four 15th and Viktor Hovland can only lay up short of the dancefloor. It's a cracking effort, mind, having to cup his shot out from behind a bush.

The Americans are on it in two, bit with Justin Thomas facing a 30-foot birdie putt.

    2UP Cantlay & Schauffele v Westwood & Fitzpatick (13)

It's a beautiful drive off the tee on the par four 13th for Lee Westwood.

Can Matt Fitzpatrick turn the screw on the Americans - it's within 10-12 feet of the cup.

Cantlay is having to putt from the front of the green - around 45 feet and into the wind up a slope.

It comes to rest within six inches of the hole. Up a ridge, left, right and thereabouts. It was a fantastic effort - there, we said it.

All eyes on Lee Westwood putting to win the hole... oh no no no - it comes up short and it just didn't have enough on it.

    Halved... and on we go.

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 1UP (15)

Oh my word. That approach from Sergio Garcia.

That is right out of the top drawer from the Spaniard from around 200 yards or so in to four feet. Eagle opportunity incoming for Jon Rahm.

Brooks Koepka has left Daniel Berger playing their second out of a bunker. The American pair mull it over for some time, before the rookie flips it out, on to the second cut of grass.

  7. Back to 2UPpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    2UP Johnson & Morikawa v Casey & Hatton (14)

Oh Tyrrell... Casey's just holed out from 100 yards on the last hole to get within touching distance, but Hatton can't convert from five feet and he opens the door wide open.

Johnson makes no mistake marching through that door and the lead is back to 2UP.

  8. What’s in a golfer’s lunchbox?published at 16:51 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Ever wondered what snacks Ryder Cup players eat to get through a round? Me too.

Managed to have a nosey in the coolbox labelled with ‘competitors and caddies only’.

The Americans have a selection of sandwiches which include almond butter and strawberry jam, peanut butter and bananas or - if they don’t something sweet - grilled veg and hummus.

There are also Snickers bars, packs of almond nuts and some beef jerky meat snacks. Sounds like something you’d get with your pint in the pub.

To keep them hydrated? Fancy bottles of ph-balanced water packed with electrolytes.

But, like what the players are trying to do with the points, there is no sharing.

One American official rather sternly points a European team member in the direction of the visiting coolbox when he accidentally goes in the wrong one.

  9. Spieth & Thomas pull levelpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    Thomas & Spieth A/S Hovland & Wiesberger (14)

Bernd Wiesberger trickles a putt from the edge of the green that flirts with the cup but decides to stay up, handing the hole to the Americans in the process. A bogey for the Europeans there.

Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas pull level once more with four to go.

  11. Birdie - Westwood and Fitzpatrick win a hole backpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    2UP Cantlay & Schauffele v Westwood & Fitzpatrick (11)

Patrick Cantlay is having to hack his second shot from the rough on the par three 12th.

But Matt Fitzpatrick was spot on from the tee.

Xander Schauffele with the par putt - sends it on its way and it meanders to the left and then the right but not enough so will be a bogey putt for the Americans.

That was a much needed birdie for the boys in grey.

    Thomas & Spieth v Hovland & Wiesberger 1UP (13)

Both teams find the corner of the fairway on the dog-left left, should have a view of the flag from there.

Bernd Wiesberger then leaves his approach some way short of the front of the green, while Justin Thomas can watch that and give his some more zip to leave Jordan Spieth 15 feet for birdie.

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 1UP (15)

Great touch from Sergio Garcia who judges that perfectly rolling up to two or three feet.

Daniel Berger has a long putt to win the hole for the US but that's come up short and left.

Just a case of tidying up for Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm. An utterly compelling watch this.

  14. Hole out!published at 16:40 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    1UP Johnson & Morikawa v Casey & Hatton (14)

Take a bow Paul Casey! He's got a blind second shot to the 14th green but he's flushed a wonderful wedge from 105 that rides the breeze a bit, lands, then rolls, tracking towards the hole...and in!

That's huge, and could be a massive momentum change.

Casey's got form of course, with a Ryder Cup hole in one to his name back in 2016.

Fun fact: That ace at the K Club was also on the 14th hole, in foursomes, on a Saturday...spooky or what!?

  15. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 1UP (14)

Looks like the match officials were correct. Brooks Koepka whips his iron through and carries the 173-yards needed to reach the green.

A lot of fuss about nothing.

Playing from the opposite side and also in the rough Jon Rahm smashes his iron shot green-bound but it comes up a tad short.

  16. Hovland saves par to keep Europe 1UPpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    Thomas & Spieth v Hovland & Wiesberger 1UP (13)

Justin Thomas finds the middle of the fairway with his tee shot at 13 but Bernd Wiesberger has leaked one right. It's the Europeans who are on the green, though, with Viktor Hovland on the money and Jordan Spieth leaving his approach on the fringes. Tricky.

Thomas ruffles it through but it stays up and that should be a par, while Wiesberger leaves his mate with a seven-footer - no bother for young Vik! It's as you were.

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 1UP (14)

Brooks Koepka is not a happy man. But there is still no sign of the decision being reversed in his favour.

European vice captain Henrik Stenson is over, I think the Swede suggested going to "get a shovel".

The Americans are still arguing the toss. The decision has been made. Come on chaps let's get on with it.

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 1UP (14)

Brooks Koepka looks like he is trying to get a free drop here with the US in major bother down the 15th, their ball looks nestled in a small thicket of grass next to a drain.

"I've seen you hit plenty like that", responds the official after Koepka says "if you say no I'll call for a second opinion," on being given relief.

"I don't see how you can physically make a swing without making some contact," Koepka adds.

Sergio Garcia is over analysing the situation, "that's the problem" points the Spaniard with a smile on his face.

  19. Another hole back...published at 16:29 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    2UP Johnson & Morikawa v Casey & Hatton (13)

Well it's another one back for Europe as they only need a par on 13 so it's not quote gone yet, America having something to think about here at least.

  20. Koepka & Berger reduce the gappublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    Koepka & Berger v Garcia & Rahm 1UP (14)

    Recovery over?

Looks that way. Sergio Garcia goes flag hunting at the 14th, but sees his ball bound into the rough on the left.

Jon Rahm's attempt to salvage the situation sees him spiral his ball over the green onto a dirt track on the other side.

The Americans, who were on in two, take the hole.
