    Koepka -11, Rahm -9, Bennett -4 (17)

Brooks Koepka sets his putt off right with plenty of pace but that starts to slow up as it breaks back left and stops four feet short.

Jon Rahm taps his over the apron on to the green...it slows right up and then gets going but not far enough for the 2021 US Open champion to look overly contented. He's got an awkward little putt left. Seen these missed.

  3. Postpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -11, Rahm -9, Bennett -4 (17)

Jon Rahm has his four-iron out on the 18th and lands it pin high albeit two or three yards off the putting surface. It's basically Morikawa territory for the Spaniard.

Brooks Koepka’s second into 18 finds the green, but he’s well short of the flag. He’ll likely have two putts up and over the ridge. A tad tricky let's say.

  4. 'Hovland - star of the morning'published at 16:40 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -8 (F)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Augusta National

Viktor Hovland has been the star of this morning with five straight birdies after having a real wobble. Now, he's trending.

He is right in the mix here, heading into the final round.

  5. So close!published at 16:39 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -8, Day -3 (18)

Hovland burns the edge of the hole on 18 with his birdie putt, which brings him to his knees as he thought it was in!

You won't see a putt like Collin Morikawa's anywhere anytime soon, as he dribbles it off the bank at the back of the green, where it looks to stop about five different times before only just trickling onto the green.

But once it reaches the short stuff it shoots off and goes almost stone dead. Wonderful touch.

  6. Great par savepublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -8, Day -3 (17)

Huge putt from Hovland on 17t, after a so-so chip from a really tough spot short of the bunker. He gets the speed and line perfectly right in what is a tough putt down the slope to stay on eight under.

  7. Koepka drops unexpected shot on 17published at 16:34 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -11, Rahm -9, Bennett -4 (17)

Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm both on the 17th green two but the Spaniard is way inside the American, who is putting from 25 feet or so.

He comes up three or four feet short with a tentative looking effort and sees his putt for par break left. Rahm has two putts to reduce the gap and does it.

  8. 'Rahm would love to have that seven-iron again'published at 16:21 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -9, Bennett -4 (16)

    Andrew Magee
PGA Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 live

A very difficult downhill putt for Rahm. I think Rahm would love to have that seven-iron again - he didn't quite make up his mind in his pre-shot routine, hit a chunky punch to the right and left himself with a tricky chipping position.

  9. Postpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -9, Bennett -4 (16)

Brooks Koepka isn't happy on the 16th tee. And no wonder he dumps his iron into the bunker to the right of the green.

Not exactly advantage to Jon Rahm mind with the Spaniard clipping his iron well right to leave a shot over the sand. He opens the face as much as possible giving his second plenty of loft but can't hold that within eight feet and fails with his par putt.

Koepka, almost holes as he splashes out of the sand and pulls another stroke clear.

  10. Birdie finish for Rosepublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Rose -3 (73), Lowry -3 (73)

Justin Rose had been pootling along quite nicely with 10 successive pars.

Then he had a six at the par-four 17th.

However, a curling 30-footer on the last got one shot back.

Ireland's Shane Lowry is in for par. Decent rounds for both considering the conditions of yesterday.

  11. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -10, Bennett -4 (15)

Jon Rahm only just gets over the drink with his second on 15. His ball comes to rest on the front-right corner of the wide green, and he’ll have an eagle putt from downtown.

Oh my...Brooks Koepka, having gone left off the tee lays up and then knocks his wedge on to the putting surface.

There's more spin on that than a tumbledryer and his ball rolls way down the slope and almost plops into the water.

Somehow, his ball manages to stick on the bank. Both players end up with pars. I know who will be happier.

  12. Just a parpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -8, Day -3 (16)

Hovland's lost it! As he only gets a par on the 16th, but as they go it's a good one as he's off the back of the green and we all know by now just how fast it is just beyond the hole.

He just lags it up to the hole nicely though, taking no chances, taking his par and moving on.

  13. Five-star Hovlandpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -8, Day -3 (15)

Might as well just copy and paste "birdie for Hovland" as that's now five in a row and this is now officially a hot streak for the Norwegian, who finds himself just two behind Jon Rahm!

Again he's aggressive and reaches the green in two, but he's left with a monster of a putt with almost as much break as it has distance - aiming almost at right angles but judging it pretty nicely, and he sticks in the birdie putt to keep this run going.

  14. Postpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -10, Bennett -4 (14)

Brooks Koepka creams his drive down the 15th but that's straying left towards the patrons again. A touch of a hook on that.

  15. Bennett slips further back from leading duopublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -10, Bennett -4 (14)

Brooks Koepka, with a wonderful chip that should see him save par. He must be thanking his lucky stars for that fortunate intervention by some poor patron.

Rahm gives his birdie putt - from well over 20 feet - plenty of welly but that'll be just short.

Both walk off with pars although it's back-to-back bogeys for Sam Bennett.

  16. Double bogey finish for Fitzpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Matsuyama -5 (70) Fitzpatrick -2 (72)

    Matt FitzpatrickImage source, Getty Images

Matt Fitzpatrick will hate that finish to his third round as he cards a double-bogey six to finish where he started on two under.

It's a mess from start to finish as he finds the trees off the tee, chips out, then leaves a wedge miles short and then hits a poor three-putt.

And after all that he'll have to come back out earlier as well!

  17. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -10, Bennett -5 (13)

Another break for Brooks Koepka who zips his approach through the green on 14 but then sees his ball back bounce back from the wilderness off someone sat at the back of the green.

Amazed how many times that sort of thing has happened this week. Has nobody thought of actually trying to move when a ball is speeding in towards them?

Rambo is on the green fine but the spin he naturally seems to apply to all his iron shots carries the ball off six or seven feet further than he'd like.

  18. Hovland makes four in a rowpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -7, Day -3 (14)

We've got day one Viktor Hovland back it seems as he sticks in another birdie on the tough 14th - which is playing as the hardest hole on the entire golf course in the third round, but not for Hovland.

He's now finally advanced from where he started the round and if he can finish this round off with one or two more he could be in business as chief chaser of the top two.

  19. Koepka goes two clear as Rahm drops a shot on 13published at 15:25 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -10, Bennett -5 (13)

That all comes down to the pitch on. Jon Rahm's par-saving putt shaves the right-hand lip and stays up. What a bonus for Brooks Koepka.

  20. Postpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (12)

Jon Rahm gives his putt a wallop but that's a good five feet past. Sam Bennett's is even worse coming up well short. He looked befuddled by the cambers on this 13th green.

Brooksie isn't and feeds his down to a foot. Could he gain a shot here with a five?
