    Koepka -12, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (12)

Jon Rahm's pitch on is way, way, undercooked. That ain't climbing the gradient in to the pin.

Now Brooks Koepka does exactly the same, followed by Sam Bennett. What an anti climax.

  2. 'Some areas are like quagmire'published at 15:19 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Augusta National

The course is looking impeccable but round and about it is absolutely sodden.

The pine straw and the walkways are both very, very wet and in some areas are like a quagmire.

  3. Hovland makes his birdiepublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -6, Day -4 (13)

Hit it Viktor! That's what Hovland will be telling himself after not giving his eagle putt even a chance of dropping with a tentative effort.

Still, it's a tap-in birdie to make it three in a row and after all that hard work the Norwegian gets himself back to six under - exactly where he started the round!

  4. Postpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (12)

All three players take turns playing identical shots down the 13th as they all elect to lay up on the extended par-five.

Chatting on Sky Sports Sir Nick Faldo reckons we're in for a "real slugfest all the way to the end" between Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm. Ideal Easter Sunday fare.

  5. Some sand save!published at 15:10 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Matsuyama -5, Fitzpatrick -4 (16)

There are sand saves and then there are sand saves - and Matsuyama's on 16 is right up there.

It's a terrifying prospect out of the top bunker with him not only being short-sided but also knowing that if he's just a bit too strong with it then it'll roll off that shelf and into a different zip code.

The 2021 Masters champ knows what he's doing though, blasting it out, holding the shelf and rolling in the putt. Great effort.

  6. 'Koepka totally misjudged that'published at 15:09 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (12)

    Trish Johnson
Eight-time member of the Team Europe Solheim Cup team

Koepka totally misjudged that - gave it plenty of left to right but had the pace totally wrong. That was not even a little dodgy one.

Brooks Koepka is way left with his putt. Woah that needs to slow down but it just goes on and on. The return trip won't be easy.

Rahm goes the same route, his ball with a huge clump of mud down the side. The Spaniard's got the distance just about right on this and leaves a tap in for par.

Koepka is struggling here and he hasn't quite got enough juice on this putt for par. Bogey it is and the lead is down to one.

Sam Bennett’s birdie putt is maybe a ball-width from dropping. Just a par for the amateur.

  9. Cantlay ends in touchpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Cantlay -6 (68), Scott +3 (77)

There are dozens and dozens of green Masters fold-up chairs around the 18th green. Not many of them are occupied right now though. Patrons place them there and wander off for the day, safe in the knowledge that when they're ready, they can return to their seat.

Patrick Cantlay powers his second up the hill. A touch too far. It would have landed on the lap of a patron in the front row had the seat been occupied.

He is playing with 2013 champion Adam Scott, who has a snowman on his card today. The Australian had two trips to the water on the par-five 15th as he signed for a triple-bogey eight.

An excellent chip saves par on the last but he's gone from under to over par today.

Cantlay nudges his ball to within four feet and knocks in the par putt. Good round

  10. Tiger out - how many more does he have in him?published at 15:04 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Media caption,

Woods withdraws from Masters with injury

The news many feared after watching the five-time Masters champion hobbling in agony was confirmed just hours before the resumption of play - Tiger was out.

He said on social media that he had reaggravated his plantar fasciitis - and it was a horrible sight to watch the 15-time major champion in such pain.

  11. Hovland pulls out the seven woodpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -5, Day -4 (12)

Viktor Hovland pulls out the lesser-spotted seven wood and unleashes a laser than finds the 13th green in two. It's not a club the top pros like to use, but it's perfect for this hole to get that extra bit of elevation but still the distance when attacking this small green from range.

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (11)

    Trish Johnson

At the moment they will be feeling way less nervous than they will in about four hours time the next time they hit this, which will be weird playing the 12th twice in one day.

  13. Postpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (11)

Huge break for Jon Rahm. Was that the wind or just a huge misjudgement?

The Spaniard massively overcooks his wedge off the 12th tee and finds the shrubbery way off the back back of the green.

If it'd held it would have been awkward but his ball jumps back and rolls back down the slope towards the dancefloor.

Koepka's effort is also heavy, skipping off the putting surface. He'll have a putt from just off the left edge.

Sam Bennett gets a huge hand though sticking one close to the pin.

  14. Postpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (11)

Heart-in-mouth time for Jon Rahm who pulls his approach into the 11th left. For a fleeting moment it looks to be off towards the drink, skipping over the corner and clinging on to the left of the dance floor.

He then races a long birdie putt past after watching Sam Bennett slightly duff a little chip on. Both make par from identical lines before Brooks Koepka does the same.

  15. Shot gone for Cantlaypublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Cantlay -6 (17)

Patrick Cantlay hits a decent putt across the 17th green to leave himself a four-footer for par. No. Shot gone. Dreadful putt.

Started straight at the hole but wandered off left. A three-putt at just the wrong time.

  16. Two in a row for Viktorpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -5, Day -4 (12)

    Media caption,

Hovland chips in on the 12th

That's a bit more like it from Viktor Hovland, who is carving up Amen Corner with birdies at 11 and 12 - the second coming with a delightful effort from off the back of the 12th green to get the Norwegian back in business.

Collin Morikawa and Jason Day follow Hovland in as all three of the group birdie the iconic Golden Bell - an easy little hole really....

  17. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Cantlay -7 (16)

A big banana hook round the trees required for Patrick Cantlay up the 17th. He scurries out to the right after swiping his ball out the rough. The ball tracker shows just how much bend he's put on that.

Too much? A touch. But his ball hits the back of the green and holds. He's got a 40-footer for an outside chance of another birdie.

  18. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Cantlay -7 (16)

The vast majority of players are clearly struggling in the cold, breezy conditions at Augusta. Reports are that with wind chill it's feeling about 4C out there.

Patrick Cantlay is bucking that trend though. He's five under par for this third round as he tees off on his penultimate hole.

Slightly left and in the first cut.

  19. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (10)

A gentle uphill putt awaits Brooks Koepka, who nonchalantly drops it in from 13 feet. There's a mini fist pump from the American.

That's a huge par save after seeing Rahm's putt race past to five or six feet leaving an awkward return journey.

Rahm holds his nerve. It's as you were.

How many more holes of this have we got? Brilliant isn't it.

  20. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (9)

That's not bad at all from Brooks Koepka, who spirals a wedge into the air and lands it dead within 15 feet from the pin.

Jon Rahm, goes right at the pin with his pw. He gets the distance about right but then sees his ball spin back off the front edge.
