  1. Where's that gone?published at 00:12 British Summer Time 10 April 2023

    Koepka -8, Rahm -12 (17)

Rahm with his first real bad swing of the day off the tee, not sure he got any of the club face on that as it shoots straight left and into the trees, possibly finding a trunk or two as it goes - and Rahm's going to reload!

His ball has been found, but we're not sure if they saw the signal from back on the tee so he's lashed a provisional right down the middle anyway just in case.

Strange old put from Rahm, who has been fantastic with his lag putting today but maybe his mind wandered a bit on that one as he trundled it and left it well short.

He makes the return though and we see the first fist pump from the Spaniard who knows he's nearly there.

And he's nearly there because Koepka makes a mess of his chip and makes a bogey to give Rahm more breathing space with a four shot lead heading to the last.

  3. Hovland still smilingpublished at 00:06 British Summer Time 10 April 2023

    Hovland -6 (17)

    Viktor HovlandImage source, Getty Images

Viktor Hovland seems to have a perm-grin on his face. Whether he's holing monster birdie putts on the 17th, like here, or seeing tiddlers lip out, he just seems happy with his lot.

A birdie down the last will see him end on the same score he finished round one.

  4. On the greenpublished at 00:02 British Summer Time 10 April 2023

    Koepka -9, Rahm -12 (16)

Yet more patron action for Brooks Koepka who has to punch another low runner from the trees and it goes into the fans settled into their Masters chairs.

Rahm just sticks his ball safely in the heart of the green, and strides up there looking to just two-putt and get onto the last.

    Morikawa -4 (72), Bennett -2 (74)

Awww. Sam Bennett has played it cool and confident all week, but he is finally overwhelmed by the emotion of what he's achieved.

No doubt many thoughts about his dad, too, and wishing he was there to see it.

Sure he's watching down and very proud of the 23-year-old, who is being cheered all the way back to the scorer's cabin.

    Morikawa -4 (72), Bennett -2 (74)

Not the finish Sam Bennett hoped for but surely the Masters he was dreaming of.

He signs off with a bogey at what is surely the end of a first of many appearances at Augusta.

    Well done, young man!

Rounds of 68-68-76-74 ensure he finishes as the best amateur.

    Koepka -9, Rahm -12 (16)

Well, any hope Koepka had of reeling Rahm in may have just disappeared with his umpteeth pulled drive. The patrons walking with his group have needed their tin hats on if they've ventured down the left of the fairways.

Jon Rahm steps up and with that short but power-packed swing unleashes another fading missile down the 17th fairway.

  8. Koepka creeps closerpublished at 23:53 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -9, Rahm -12 (16)

Brooks Koepka isn't quite ready to raise the white flag just yet, as he sinks his birdie putt on 16 to get to nine under and cut the lead to just three as Rahm doesn't manage to make his.

Just two holes left now but still plenty of time...

    Morikawa -4, Bennett -3 (17)

Sam Bennett must have goosebumps. A standing ovation, with shrill cheers ringing in his ears, as the 23-year-old American strides onto the 18th green.

He looks slightly emotional and who would blame him.

The silver medal is going to look lovely on his mantelpiece.

  10. Safely aboard 16published at 23:49 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -8, Rahm -12 (15)

No dicing with the water on 16 for Rahm, who flies it up and over the flag, using the slope to bring the ball back down about pin high with limited fuss.

As mentioned they had another decent wait on the 16th tee so Rahm's had chance to look around and assess the situation. No sign that his impending triumph has dropped his focus though.

  11. 'Slow play holding up a spectacle'published at 23:47 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -5, Cantlay -3 (16)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Augusta National

I have to say that the pace of play of Patrick Cantlay has been atrocious today. Sometimes these players become so self-obsessed. They're holding up a spectacle here.

  12. Postpublished at 23:47 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -5, Cantlay -3 (16)

These two aren't playing well and are being pretty slow - not sure they're endearing themselves to many.

Rahm and Koepka, not for the first time today, are waiting poker-faced behind on the tee.

Cantlay drops another shot - his sixth of the final round - before Hovland saves par.

John: Koepka ahead after 54 holes, Rahm finishes it off after 72 possibly? Let me think about that, anything obvious spring to mind ?

  14. Par for Rahm - three to gopublished at 23:42 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -8, Rahm -12 (15)

Not to be for Rahm on the 15th green, as his birdie putt takes a late break away from the hole, but a par will do with just three holes left and a four-stroke lead.

Koepka goes back up into tied second with Mickelson as he does manage to get a birdie four on par five.

  15. Postpublished at 23:39 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -5, Cantlay -4 (15)

Hovland escaped with a wet par on the 15th but he's in more trouble on the 16th, knocking long and going into the patrons.

Not his day is the kindest way to sum this up.

  16. Rahm safe on 15published at 23:35 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -7, Rahm -12 (14)

A short tee shot from Rahm removes the temptation of going for the green in two, and the lay-up is perfect, leading to a nice wedge that leaves him with a makeable birdie putt on 15.

That's probably the most dangerous shot left on the course out of the way for Rahm - there's still big numbers lurking for mental lapses but that was a big one.

  17. 'Spain is going to reign at The Masters'published at 23:31 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -7, Rahm -12 (14)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Augusta National

Rahm is firmly in control of the Masters right now and it looks like Spain is going to reign at the Masters right now.

For my money, Rahm has been playing the best golf of anybody in the last six months or so - and it is going to lead him to a Green Jacket.

  18. Postpublished at 23:29 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -5, Cantlay -4 (14)

These two are going south after bogeys on the 14th. It gets worse for Hovland on the 15th when his ball dribbles into the water.

A day to forget for the young Norwegian - or maybe a day to remember and learn from.

He started in third place behind Rahm and Koepka, remember.

  19. Postpublished at 23:26 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -5, Bennett -3 (16)

Amazing ovation for Sam Bennett as he walks up to the 16th green.

The 23-year-old American amateur has won the hearts and minds of the home fans with both his assured golf and an emotional backstory.

Two years ago Bennett lost his father Mark, who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s, and a tattoo on his left arm features the last words from his dad.

"Don’t wait to do something. – Pops,” it says.

Bennett sees the ink every time he addresses his ball and he's certainly showed us this week that he's determined to follow these words.

He's annoyed to miss a glorious birdie opportunity on the 16th green, but has two more chances to move into the top 10.

  20. Rahm goes four clearpublished at 23:21 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -7, Rahm -12 (14)

Just when he got one, Koepka three-putts to hand a shot right back on the 14th, but Rahm holes out with his ball just catching the left edge and doing a 180 before dropping into the cup.

That's back-to-back birdies and more importantly a four-shot lead with just four holes left to play for Jon Rahm to become Masters champion.
