  1. Kang misses big chancepublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Hull v Kang 1UP (3)

Danielle Kang hits a laser approach into the par-three third, her ball finishing six feet from the hole. Can she nail the putt to go two clear?

No! A bit of a tentative prod and the ball wanders off right.

She grabs it back and has another go - practice putts are allowed in this format of the game - and this time the ball tracks into the centre of the hole. Always easier second time round with no pressure on Dani!

  2. Match six under waypublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Dryburgh v Knight

American Cheyenne Knight hits a conservative tee shot down the right side.

Gemma Dryburgh - the seventh Scottish player to play in the Solheim Cup - plays even safer, nudging a hybrid down there to give herself more of a full shot with her approach.

She looks very composed and is probably raring to go after sitting out yesterday.

  3. Stacy using her statspublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

Stacy Lewis is well-known for loving the use of stats, and she says data has been used all week - including for planning where she thinks the Solheim Cup will be decided in the singles...

"Yeah, so we have strokes gained data on how everyone has played this week," said Lewis.

"We have data that shows their strokes gained for the whole week, per match, driving, putting, everything, and so that's really a big influence on where we're putting people.

"They also have some data on historically what number in the line-up has clinched the Solheim Cup, has clinched Ryder Cups, so we used all of that to come up with a singles line-up."

    Will it work?

  4. Khang doubles her leadpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Grant v Khang 2UP (4)

Megan Khang makes her third birdie in four holes with yet again that putter doing the business from the crucial eight-foot range.

Linn Grant is a foot closer but can't match it as he effort burns the right edge and she falls two behind and just struggling a bit for that spark.

Grant is one of the players that has played every session, could be a bit of fatigue creeping in.

  5. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Hull v Kang 1UP (2)

Nothing to see on the par-five second of this match. And I mean literally nothing. The scoreboard tells me it's hole halved in fives.

    We move on.

  6. Match six on the teepublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Dryburgh v Knight

Gemma Dryburgh is all smiles as she walks to the first tee. The Scottish rookie has played just once before today - hardly a huge show of faith in her - but she looks calm and confident.

She played nicely in gaining a half in Friday's fourballs though.

As Monty would say, we wish her well!

  7. Match five under waypublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Hall v Lee

Two players who haven’t been in the best of form this week here, they’ve both won one and lost two of the three matches so far.

Former Women’s Open champion Georgia Hall has the edge on experience with this her fourth Solheim Cup while Andrea Lee is a rookie but a former world number one amateur.

Hall has only won one of her three previous singles matches though, losing two.

  8. Maguire moves in frontpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    1 UP Maguire v Zhang (3)

    Leona MaguireImage source, PA Media

Rose Zhang with an aggressive birdie putt on the short third. Her ball slams into the back of the hole and pops out, just a touch too much juice on that.

What can Leona Maguire do? She's putting along a similar line but from 10 feet closer in - and from about six feet she makes it count. Back-to-back birdies and back-to-back wins puts the first bit of blue on the board.

  10. First hole halvedpublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Nordqvist v Kupcho A/S (1)

Jennifer Kupcho really struggled on the greens yesterday, and she's still not got the pace of them as she races a long-ranger well past the hole.

But she gets away with it as Anna Nordqvist can't convert her birdie putt and the first hole is halved for the first time today after USA won it in the opening three matches.

  12. Maguire strikes backpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Maguire v Zhang A/S (2)

    Leona MaguireImage source, PA Media

A first fist-pump of the morning by Leona Maguire as she rolls in an 18-footer for a winning birdie on the par-five second.

That will settle any nerves she may have had.

  13. Europe down in all threepublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Hull v Kang 1UP (1)

The Americans are turning the screw a little in these opening matches. Danielle Kang goes in close with her chip on the first, putting the pressure on Charley Hull, who is in the sand.

She gives the ball a good bump but it's not threatening the hole, pulling up a dozen feet short so it's still her turn to play.

And that's not a good opening putt, racing by without even looking at the hole. She picks up Kang's marker. Hole lost.

The first matches may be under way but given there are a dozen in just over a two-hour window the crowds are still filtering into Finca Cortesin.

There’s an accommodating breeze today for fans (maybe not the players) but it’s still pretty scorchio out here - currently around 25°C and likely to climb a little higher.

  15. 'We have a strategy' - Pettersenpublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Europe 8-8 USA

    Solheim CupImage source, Getty Images

Suzann Pettersen explains her line-up thinking as she looks to get her hands on the Solheim Cup - and seal a historic hat-trick.

"We have a strategy on how we think this is going to most likely unfold. I don't think it's going to go any different than a lot of other Solheims in the past.

"Yeah, we're trying to go strong out. It's going to be important to get points early, give ourselves a chance.

"We got a pretty nice line-up in the back ready to take the ship home."

  16. Khang stays aheadpublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Grant v Khang 1UP (2)

    Megan KhangImage source, Getty Images

Megan Khang holes on to her lead thanks to a seven-foot birdie putt on the second, where Linn Grant had a lengthy putt for eagle that just pulled up short of the hole.

    Khang's putter again looking solid.

  17. Hull firing at greenpublished at 10:37 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Hull v Kang (10:34 BST)

Charley Hull is out with the big dog on the first tee. It's a tough pin position today though, just tucked on the front left of the green, a few yards over the water. Maybe there's no value in going for it?

Anyway, Hull is a little long, her ball bounding into a bunker at the back of the green.

Danielle Kang has already played, pinging her ball down the fairway to leave a chip on to the green.

  19. Another US winpublished at 10:32 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Maguire v Zhang 1 UP (1)

Rose Zhang wins the first mini-battle, chipping to three feet from the rough, after Leona Maguire's approach from the fairway settles in the middle of the green, 25 feet from the flag.

A good lag putt from Maguire to gimme range, but Zhang isn't going to miss from there and that's another early splash of red on the leaderboard.

  20. A contrast in stylespublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Hull v Kang (10:34 BST)

Just getting announced on to the tee is Charley Hull. She's had quite the week...

...a bit of a neck/shoulder injury has been troubling her and she almost missed her tee-time on day one and she has won one and lost one and, as she said yesterday, doesn't really get caught up in the histrionics of it all, keeping an even tempo to her round.

The same can't be said of Danielle Kang who is a bundle of raw emotion. There are fist-pumps and screams and yells as she pumps herself up at crucial points of matches. One win and two defeats for the American so far.
