  1. A chipping contest on onepublished at 10:25 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Maguire v Zhang

Rose Zhang is up first on the first tee and is going for the green. The American's radar is slightly off and her ball bounces into the rough a fraction right of the green, all about the lie in there.

Leona Maguire takes a safer option, playing down the right of the water and finding the middle of the fairway with one of her trusted hybrid clubs. She's not the longest hitter off the tee, but she's usually pretty deadly with the hybrids

  2. Khang takes the firstpublished at 10:22 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Grant v Khang 1UP (1)

It's not the best chip from off the back of the green by Linn Grant, and when she can't hole from about 15 feet then Megan Khang seizes the chance to knock it in from about 12 feet to pinch the opening hole.

It would seem to be good planning to organise your annual golf trip around the Solheim Cup, and that's just what the members of Whitley Bay Golf Club did this year.

Around 20 have come out here to play a few local courses this week - a delighted Martine emerging as the winner - and they arrived early this morning to seek out prime spots for viewing.

Barbara, who organised the trip and was here earlier in the week, has warned the team of the difficulty in following matches given the hilly terrain, while Gail, who said everyone has sneaked in a sandwich or two given the food stalls have been running out, is predicting a European win, naturally.

And that's what we like, a bit of European tub-thumping to get us pumped!

  5. Match twopublished at 10:18 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Maguire v Zhang (10:22 BST)

A big match off next (well, aren't they all, but you know what I mean...)

Ireland's Leona Maguire, who went unbeaten in 2021 and has two wins and two defeats this week is one tough matchplay golfer.

And she's coming up against the inexperienced but ridiculously talented Rose Zhang, who made the team despite only turning pro a couple of months ago. The 20-year-old won on her professional debut in June too.

    This could be a classic.

  6. Grant goes for the greenpublished at 10:15 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Grant v Khang

The silence is deafening as Megan Khang settles down to hit the opening tee shot of the Sunday singles.

Khang hits it down on to the fairway, but Grant is going for the green, only using a three wood due to a combination of the wind from behind and no doubt the adrenaline coursing through her veins, and it's just an easy swing that makes it all the way.

The European fans go ballistic as Grant's ball lands on the putting surface, but it's coming in hot and bounds over the back of the green. Should be OK though as our lead-off players stride down the first hole.

  7. Windiest day so farpublished at 10:10 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Peter Scrivener
    BBC Sport at Finca Cortesin

It's a little windier this morning than it has been across the week so far. And the direction has shifted a little too. The players might not feel it on the sheltered first tee but a look at the flags fluttering atop the stand will tell them it's a little more into the face and across from the right.

And with water all down the left, will anyone feel brave enough to go chasing the green?

  8. Here we go!published at 10:08 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Grant v Khang (10:10 BST)

Our first two players are on the first tee - all alone this time which must feel a bit exposed having had a partner the last couple of days.

It's a totally different feel in the singles but Linn Grant and Megan Khang have taken it all in their stride so far.

Khang is undefeated so far with three wins and a half from four matches while Grant has won three and lost one of her four outings - so it's fair to say they've been pretty strong!

The USA, as you'd probably expect, hold a winning record in the Sunday singles over the history of the Solheim Cup.

Team USA have won both more overall sessions of singles and the individual 18-hole matches themselves.

But who will get the better of the argument today?

  10. 'You've got this' - Donald's messagepublished at 10:03 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald has been on social media to post a good luck message to the Solheim Cup side...

He wrote:, external "Great fightback from @SolheimCupEuro after the first morning's play - all to play for heading into Sunday singles. C’mon ladies you’ve got this."

  11. Watch: Europe hit back on Saturdaypublished at 10:01 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Europe 8-8 USA

You have to give Europe credit for how they've hot back from being 4-0 down - and on Saturday they played some incredible golf.

Watch the best of it here.

  12. Singles line-uppublished at 09:59 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Europe 8-8 USA

Solheim Cup singles line-upImage source, BBC Sport

As always the singles line-up is being examined to see who holds the edge - in truth most matches are settled by just a putt here and there so it's hard to say exactly how it will go.

Both sides have top and tailed their line-up, with a strong start and finish in terms of their best and most in-form players this week.

Linn Grant and Leona Maguire have been superb for Europe, with Charley Hull capable of anything, while Megan Khang, Rose Zhang and Danielle Kang are a strong start for the USA.

But look at those bottom four matches! With two-time major champion this year Lilia Vu followed by US Open champion Allisen Corpuz, world number three Nelly Korda and then star name Lexi Thompson.

Facing them are Madelene Sagstrom and Maja Stark, home star Carlota Ciganda and then Emily Pedersen, who was superb yesterday, in the anchor match.

It will be some finish if it goes down to those...

Suzann Pettersen's side have the momentum, but Stacy Lewis' USA have the star names, the higher average world ranking and even some rookies who have won majors this year.
