Pete Horne (74 mins); Con: Horne

    Six up for the Scots!

Replacement Pete Horne is given a lovely offload from Cornell du Preez and runs free, sprinting 20 metres to go over the whitewash.

    And he adds the extras.

    England 14-3 Argentina

England playmaker Owen Farrell has been rested for the day. But he doesn't do resting.

So instead he is prowling the touchlines as the most pro-active waterboy the world has seen. Complete with yellow H20 armband.

    Scotland 37-31 Samoa

We (the commentators and fans) can take a breath as Samoa have a scrum in their own half.

A loose kick falls to Stuart Hogg and he's pummeled to the floor by a huge pile of blue shirts.

A steady build-up ensues from Scotland, from left to right and right to left.

The hosts try to kick and chase but can't quite run away with it and Samoa kick clear... for now.

    England 14-3 Argentina

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

It'll be interesting to hear what the players say about the pitch afterwards. It's not slick and it doesn't look like the players are fizzing the ball around how you'd expect them to. England can deal with the running Argentine attacks all day at the moment.

    England 14-3 Argentina

    More Argentine pressure.

Men over! But the Pumas don't chance their arm with the jackpot waiting to be grabbed.

The visitors have started the second half the stronger.

Wait, wait, wait - make that three tries in as many minutes!

Kieron Fonotia slides over and Nanai-Williams converts again. We have a six-point game!

  9. Dunbar scores Scotland's fifth trypublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Scotland 37 - 29 Samoa

    Chris Paterson
Former Scotland international on BBC One

There were some beautiful pieces of detail and execution in Alex Dunbar's try for Scotland.

It was a really nice attacking kick. Dunbar just brutally drove over the line for Scotland’s fifth try.

    England 14-3 Argentina

Argentina are battering away just short of the England 22m.

A lot better at working through the phases than they were in a scrappy first half.

But the England defence is standing strong. Juan Martin Hernandez eventually decides to put boot to ball.

And Anthony Watson is as safe as houses under the high ball.

  11. Kick-offpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    England 14-3 Argentina

And we are back under way in the second half at Twickenham.

Eleven points the difference as Juan Martin Hernandez sends the ball back-flipping into the late afternoon gloom.

  12. try

Try - Scotland 37-24 Samoapublished at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Alex Dunbar (65 mins)

This game is brilliant! Two tries in two minutes!

A lofted kick over the top looks like it's just been intercepted by a blue shirt but no, Lee Jones has picked it up before offloading to Alex Dunbar who bulldozes over for Scotland's fifth try.

Replacement Pete Horne misses the conversion.

  13. 'He sliced through'published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Scotland 32-24 Samoa

    Chris Paterson
Former Scotland international on BBC One

Tim Nanai-Williams has been on fire this afternoon in that number 10 jersey.

He has the incision in his speed to get over the line. He’s a wonderful ball player and a wonderful talent.

It was well scored. It came from a direct play initially and he sliced through and scored.

    Nanai-Williams (63 mins); Con: Nanai-Williams

Samoa are right up to the Scotland line!

Can they get over for a third time? They opt to peel back and feed to Tim Nanai-Williams and the Samoa fly-half skips through at lightning speed and evades Huw Jones' tackle to go over.

He converts the try himself and the visitors are clawing away at Scotland's lead.

Home advantage may be particularly marked for the northern hemisphere sides this year as matches will be played under an updated version of the laws that the southern hemisphere teams have far less experience of.

The changes - the most important of which are at the tackle and scrum - were brought in in the northern hemisphere on 1 August, but will not come into force in the south until January.

"If we get a small advantage up here, I'm sure the coaches will try to use it," top English referee Wayne Barnes told the Telegraph last month. , external

Expect at least some confusion for fans, players and coaches alike.

    Gavin Hastings

It's become a bit of an arm wrestle for the Scotland forwards. They're getting a bit bogged down at the moment and that's probably why Townsend has made four changes. With New Zealand up next week, it's important to keep their play flowing

  20. Half-time statspublished at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    HT: England 14-3 Argentina

Well, there's not much to tell in terms of team stats.

It's even on both the possession and territory front.

Individually, newbie Sam Underhill has made 10 tackles, with experienced front rower Mako Vunipola narrowly edging him with 11.

And Nathan Hughes has been the home side's best runner. Plenty of room for improvement on that front.
