All rugby fans are loving that France are coming back to the table - the hierarchy now seem to understand how to get the best out of the team.

The anthems are all wrapped up. The Marsellaise first, then England get to hear fans sing God Save the Queen at them for the first time since March.

They're probably just relieved that there's something to drown out the sound of their own singing voices, we've heard those with perfectly clarity without fans over the last few weeks.

Interestingly as England captain Owen Farrell ran out, he gave a long look over to the East Stand opposite which is holding the majority of the fans and gave a pointed clap. There may not be many but they are appreciated.

France run out to the sound of cheers from the crowd and, just as empty stands seemed odd before, it almost feels a bit strange for there to be any noise as the players take to the field.

England are out next and as you'd expect the volume goes up a notch. Whistles, cheers, flames - everything you'd expect.

The crowd is socially distanced, of course, but they're all in the lower tier on one side. The effect is that 2,000 actually looks like quite a lot of people.

The players will surely appreciate any noise they make.

This is a momentum builder, Eddie Jones has given opportunities to players - he has got players on the field over the previous three games and this is England's best side.

How many years have gone by where most of the conversation used to be about 'is this England's best team?' Actually, Eddie has developed this squad into quite a ruthless set of 30/35 players where they are all accustomed to their position.

There is an acceptance Eddie is going to play his best team and it's hard to argue with it.

England have relied on their kicking game, relied on their defence - they're happier without the ball.

There is an opportunity for England to create space, attack really well. Their detail is off slightly and these are the things that add up.

If everyone is doing their jobs it is an opportunity.

England are overwhelming favourites, so what can they do about? Nudge their way through the game and win it by 10 or 15, or destroy them on the hoof and attack the weaknesses of this side?

France are going to throw everything at them. They are superstars in the making.

We will see a very different France team today, with many of their star players unavailable.

Manager Raphael Ibanez has been speaking about it on Amazon Prime:

"They are a very talented group of players. They are hungry for success.

"It is a shame that we have to field such a young group of players for the final. We just have to deal with it.

"I expect energy, enthusiasm and the main challenge is to match England's physicality."

These two last met in February.

England were fresh from World Cup defeat. There was much talk of France's exciting young half-backs Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack.

And they did not disappoint as they put England firmly in their place with a 24-17 defeat in front of a ferocious Paris crowd.

    A very different time...

Meet the Whitehouses. Sophie, Matt and three-month old Mauve.

Sophie and Matt are doctors and, while Sophie has been on maternity leave and away from the frontline during the pandemic, Matt has been working on the Covid wards back in West Sussex. He caught the virus but is fully recovered and looking forward to showing Mauve her first game as part of the RFU's ticket giveaway to NHS staff.

Just don't tell their two-year-old. He thinks his parents have gone to work. No close-ups of the Whitehouses in the stand to blow their cover.

    England v France (14:00 GMT)

Here's hoping England and France put on a good show for Moistie and Juicy...

There have been a few accusations thrown around (frequently by my mum) that England's playing style during the tournament has been boring.

Eddie Jones has seemed particularly focussed on defence and Matt Dawson suggested last week that laws at the breakdown are to blame.

If anyone can force a bit of flair at Twickenham though, it is surely a young French side with nothing to lose.

And Jones told BBC Sport earlier this week that England will not be underestimating their opponents.

"The French have got a history of doing well when they've got a young side," he said.

"We have made sure our preparation is absolutely first-class."

    Meet 'Moistie' and 'Juicy'.

"Don't ask," they say. No worries on that front.

They bagged their tickets via the England Supporters Club and are seated just near halfway in the East Stand. They are hoping that the social distance are small enough that they can hear other fans, but large enough so Moistie can still get his line-out advice through to Jamie George.

Anyway, they have made their way to Twickenham today via a taxi from High Wycombe. This time last year they were on their way back from supporting England in Japan at the Rugby World Cup.

"It's been a strange year," said Juicy. It certainly has.
