Bristol in Pictures: Don't leave us yet, summer

Fans at Forwards Festival on the Downs made the most of the bank holiday weekend sunshine

The clouds may have rolled in this week, but it's August so we are still clinging on to summer.
There has been plenty to celebrate in sport, with Rovers winning three games in a row, City staying unbeaten and ultimate frisbee players triumphing too.
Of course it was only a week ago today the BBC Proms were coming to a close on their second visit to the city.
There have also been awards, retirements, weddings and special days out to savour.

At the front: Bristol's last big music festival of the summer, Forwards, finished in glorious weather last Sunday.

Star man: New signing Louis Rees-Zammit met young fans as the Bristol Bears held an open training session at Ashton Gate

High fliers: Bristol played a key role in Great Britain winning gold at the Ultimate Frisbee European Championships, with seven team members of the team coming from the city.

Flying high: Bristol City remain unbeaten in the Championship, their 4-2 win over Hull on Saturday making it four unbeaten in the league so far this season.

Drying out: This drone shot shows how far the long hot summer has caused the water of Chew Valley Lake to recede. We have had rain this week but need much more.

World class: Just a week ago some of the best musicians in the world came to Bristol as part of the BBC Proms, which organisers have revealed attracted 5,000 people to the Bristol Beacon and St Georges.

Cup success: Rovers won a crazy contest with Tottenham's Under-21s in the EFL Trophy, fighting back to earn a 4-4 draw in normal time with Fabrizio Cavegn scoring twice, then winning a penalty shoot-out.

Well deserved: Staff at the BRI rightly made a fuss of nurse Chris Oram, as she celebrated 40 years in the same role as a ward sister at the hospital. She first qualified in 1979 and worked at the Bristol General before working her way up to the role of sister, running the stroke unit for 22 years.

All aboard: The Severnside Community Rail Partnership hosted a special activity train adventure for families, inviting people from the communities along the rail line on a free trip into Temple Meads where they then went on the hunt for the colourful sculptures which are part of the Gromit Unleashed 3 trail. The special day was supported by the GWR Customer and Communities Improvement Fund.

Special day: Residents of a care home in Soundwell made some four-legged friends when therapy ponies from a Wiltshire charity paid them a visit.

Star man: University of Bristol scientist Prof Anthony Davis has been awarded the 2025 Royal Medal for Applied Sciences from the Royal Society. Prof Davis helped develop a key breakthrough in binding glucose, a move that could lead to improved treatment for people with diabetes.

Tying the knot: After 42 years together, Valerie, 73, and Patrick, 78, got married at Deerhurst Care Home in Bristol where Patrick now lives. The wedding party included five bridesmaids - four home staff and a fellow resident - and two flower girls.
