Let's not say goodbye to summer just yet, despite the clouds piling in over Gloucestershire this week.

There are still memories of the bank holiday to enjoy, especially the mayhem of the river football match in Bourton-on-the-Water.

Two very special church staff have 'pawsed' their careers as vergers, and over in Gloucester they've been carving up stones in aid for a good cause.

Pew pooches: Tewkesbury Abbey have announced this week that Eric and Flo, two labradors who are assistant vergers there, are retiring. Due to the cold weather and the age of the dogs, their last "shifts" will be at the start of October.

For a good cause: Over the weekend, Gloucester Cathedral hosted a Stone Carving Festival that brought together stonemasons and craftspeople from across the country. The carvings are now available to bid for as part of an online auction to support the cathedral's East Cloisters Project.
