    Man Utd 1-0 Newcastle

Manchester United remain eighth as things stand, but only behind Newcastle on goal difference.

They'd still need Newcastle to slip up on the final day.

    Man Utd 1-0 Newcastle

Almost a chance for an immediate Toon equaliser as Sean Longstaff rolls the ball across the six-yard box but nobody is there for a tap-in.

Kobbie Mainoo almost shocked to be in that much space and have that much time. May have thought he was offside, but Kieran Trippier was not quick enough to get out.

Trippier just drops off a touch too much and maybe it's a bit of rustiness in the right-backs game. Mainoo tucks it away very confidently indeed like it's a training ground match.

A good move from Man Utd, from two of their best performers this season in Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho.

If Garnacho had lifted it he would have scored.

Rezaa: You have to give Palmer credit for leaving City to Chelsea. He's been an absolute pleasure to watch and he deserves all the credit. England are blessed with world class players. Shame they won't win anything with Southgate in charge.

For all the promise Garnacho needs to really improve his end result for next year as he's usually very good up to about 75% of the play.

Why does Erik ten Hag persist with Garnacho on the left, when he is clearly right footed? Yet another crossing opportunity missed!

  16. Remember Paul Scholes?published at 20:24 British Summer Time 15 May

    Man Utd 0-0 Newcastle

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes just floated a corner to the edge of the penalty area where Amad Diallo fired a first-time shot into a crowd of bodies.

It's a great tactic. But the execution needs to be spot on.

In my memory, I think of David Beckham to Paul Scholes at Bradford. First-time volley straight into the net.

    That was sensational.
