Fifteen minutes to go - is there a way back for the Dons?

  3. get involved

Dons candidates for the drop?published at 14:03 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-2 Celtic

Aberdeen are absolutely appalling and must be candidates for relegation even this early. This is simply non football from a team that cannot even manage the basics required from a team!

    Andrew

This is dire as an Aberdeen supporter. Surprised if we finish top six. A weaker squad than last season, no change in how we play. How will that lead to better results?

    Mike

On this performance and how Aberdeen are starting the season, how long before Jimmy Thelin is under pressure? I predict happily he will be gone before Christmas

    Fergus

Thelin doesn't know what he's doing. Aberdeen have some good players but Thelin's tactics are naïve. I doubt he'll last the season.

  4. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-2 Celtic

It's the turn of Adil Aouchiche and Alistair Johnston to have a little contretemps.

    Quickly separated, though.

  5. Substitutions for both sidespublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 10 August

A second change for the Dons as Leighton Clarkson comes on for Sivert Heltne Nilsen.

Shin Yamada and Auston Trusty replace Adam Idah and Kieran Tierney for Celtic.

  6. Postpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-2 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

    He struck it beautifully.

The goalkeeper had no chance. It would've been a brilliant save if he got near it.

It puts Celtic into a commanding position.

  7. Postpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-2 Celtic

Daizen Maeda latches on to a lobbed through ball, and he's in one-on-one with Dimitar Mitov.

He must not have the right studs on, though, as he stumbles and falls on the edge of the area.

  8. goal

GOAL Aberdeen 0-2 Celticpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 10 August

    Reo Hatate

Woof! Reo Hatate, that is outstanding.

Benjamin Nygren picks out Hatate on the edge of the box who takes a touch with his left before cracking the ball off the underside crossbar and into the back of the net.

    What a strike that is.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

    That's late from Liam Scales...

The Celtic defender is booked for a rash challenge on Ester Sokler.

Referee Beaton is across promptly once again as it threatens to get a bit lively.

  10. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

That's a bit daft from McGregor - he gives away a needless free kick on the edge of the Dons box after clattering into the back of Adil Aouchiche.

    Nothing comes of it, though.

  11. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

    It's been a low-key game so far.

Aberdeen are only a goal behind.

They know they're still in this game.

  12. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Callum McGregor strikes from distance, but sends his speculative effort well over the bar.

Celtic could do with a second to settle any nerves they may have.

  13. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen and Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

Aberdeen need more possession to make an impact. It's been too easy for the visitors in this second half.

  14. Can Aberdeen make a comeback?published at 13:46 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Celtic need a second or they will caught out.

    James

There's only one goal in this. The Scottish Cup holders still have a chance.

    John

At 1-0 Celtic could yet do a Rangers and throw it all away. Really need the next goal.

    Chris

Not the performance I expected from Aberdeen, except the first five to 10 minutes. Dominant performance by Celtic but at 1-0 it only takes one slip and that lead disappears. Still fancy Aberdeen to get something out of this, certainly can't see them being that poor in the second half.

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen and Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

Yengi has had opportunities in a decent position, but his touch has let him down on every occasion.

He doesn't look like he has energy or is working particularly hard.

He doesn't show emotion. I don't think right now that he is a fan favourite.

  16. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 10 August

Yengi is now off, replaced by Ester Sokler.

  17. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

    Yengi, Yengi, Yengi.

Aberdeen are on the break, Nicolas Milanovic has it wide right and angles it back across goal for Topi Keskinen, who has made a mate run into the area.

He steps onto it and drills it towards goal, but it cannons off of Kusini Yengi as he tries to get out of the way.

He's not had the best start to his Dons career, eh?

  18. SAVE!published at 13:44 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

    Celtic almost double their lead!

James Forrest floats the ball in for Daizen Maeda who strikes on the volley, and it's a brilliant fingertip save from Dimitar Mitov!

How big a stop could that be for the Dons?!

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Sivert Heltne Nilsen picks up a booking for clattering into Benjamin Nygren. No arguments there.

  20. Postpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Kieran Tierney tries to fizz it down the line again.

It almost finds Daizen Maeda down the channel, but it's out for a goal kick.
