Summary

  1. Postpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

The hosts just about manage to break forward, but Liam Scales clears.

Jimmy Thelin's side have really struggled to get up the pitch in the last 20 minutes, as Celtic march back up the other end and win a corner.

Scales is involved again and glances it narrowly wide.

  2. Pessimism the watchword for Donspublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Worried about Aberdeen this season. I see relegation a real possibility. I’ve no faith in Jimmy and his tactics or his new players. We were lucky to win the cup. Played shocking defensive game.

    Stu

Aberdeen don’t have what it takes, and I do think Rangers will be the rival for Celtic.

    David

Aberdeen fans will have been disappointed with their performance against hearts on Monday. Picking up points early is always essential and it's going be a big ask against the reigning champions.

  3. Postpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Graeme Shinnie takes a throw-in on the halfway line, but Aberdeen give the ball straight back to Celtic.

Sums up the last 20 minutes for them, in all honesty.

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Celtic have had the last 5 shots in this game.

Aberdee's last shot was taken by Adil Aouchiche in the eighth minute, the hosts have fallen out of it big time after a solid start.

  6. Postpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 10 August

  7. Postpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Graeme Shinnie gives away a free kick in a dangerous position.

20 yards from goal, a touch to the right of centre. Nygren stands over it.

  8. Tierney assist inevitablepublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen and Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

Tierney is a powerhouse. You know where Tierney wants to go and he leaves defender Alexander Jensen for dead. It's good for Tierney but unacceptable defensively.

  9. Postpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-1 Celtic

Reo Hatate steps into the area and fires a low, fizzing shot at Dimitar Mitov, who palms it back into the middle of the area.

It lands perfectly for Benjamin Nygren to lash goalward, but - much to Mitov's relief - it doesn't find the target.

  10. goal

GOAL Aberdeen 0-1 Celticpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 10 August

    Benjamin Nygren

    Celtic make their dominance count.

It's great play from Kieran Tierney down the left-hand side to get away from his man, and Benjamin Nygren fires in his first goal for the visitors! It's Celtic's first shot on target, too.

  11. Postpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

Nicky Devlin faints to let the ball trundle out for a goal-kick but the ball is a revolution from going out.

He tries to power away from the onrushing Benjamin Nygren and wins a free-kick for his troubles.

  12. CLOSE!published at 12:54 British Summer Time 10 August

    Decent chance for Celtic.

  13. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

Sivert Heltne Nilsen comes crashing into the back of Calum McGregor.

He's lucky to come away without a booking there, perhaps.

  14. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

Celtic passing it around the back line. Looks like they're trying to take the sting out of Aberdeen's game as they begin to control the game.

The visitor's defence is camped out on the Aberdeen half.

  15. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

72.5% possession for the visitors after 15 minutes.

115 accurate passes to the Dons' 26.

    That's, eh, rather dominant.

  16. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen and Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

Aberdeen are trying to get men forward. They're not defending particular deep, they want to keep a high line.

The intent is good against a strong Celtic side that have not ripped up here yet.

  17. Postpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 10 August

    Aberdeen 0-0 Celtic

It's Dimitar Mitov's turn to step up as the Dons keeper gathers James Forrest's effort at the other end of the pitch.

Really frantic start to this game.

It is imperative that Celtic take advantage of Rangers slipping up yesterday and consolidate their early lead at the summit. Pressure slowly building even at this point in the season. Tough assignment against last season’s Scottish Cup winners, although Celtic’s record at Pittodrie has been exceptional over the years.

I reckon 2-0 to the Dons. They know how to play Rodgers' Celtic and don't see today being any different.
