This game itself, you'd expect historically that it wouldn't matter that much because City would have done the business to this point but here they are, the pressure is on.

It's away from home against a side that also know themselves they need to take advantage of being at home today.

I used to really like Arsenal and enjoyed seeing them do well. However the dark arts, complaining all the time and feeling sorry for themselves have soured things somewhat. Monaco to get something tonight.

  3. Tierney 'earned' place in squad after injurypublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December

    Arsenal v Monaco (20:00 GMT)

Left-back Kieran Tierney, back in training after six months out with a hamstring injury, could make his first appearance in European competition for Arsenal since November 2022 and is among their substitutes.

The Scotland international spent last season on loan at Spain's Real Sociedad, but Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is pleased with the determination he has shown since returning.

"He's ready and training really well and he's going to have an opportunity for sure the way the team is looking at the moment," the Spanish coach said.

"He's going to do that for that reason and because he's earned it. The way he's behaved, the way he's been with us and because he's willing to do it. When that happens you have to give opportunities to those kinds of players."

Arteta has been "really impressed" by what he has seen from Monaco, who suffered their first defeat in the competition last time out on matchday five.

"You see the run that they've been on in the Champions League. They're a real threat with a lot of qualities," Arteta said.

Diego Simeone's side sit 10th in the table just outside the top eight places that guarantee a spot in the last 16, while their opponents remain bottom without a point.

Meanwhile, Lille are sixth at present after they secured a 3-2 victory over Sturm Graz, who are four points adrift of a spot in the play-off round.

On Juventus boss Thiago Motta: "First time, he's young. He did really well in Bologna last season, qualifying for the Champions League and playing really good. He is trying to do it here [at Juventus]."

On replacing Stefan Ortega with Ederson: "I decide for Stefan. Everybody is involved to change a little bit the dynamics, that is all."

On Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku coming back into the starting XI: "Of course they are important players because we have had problems in the middle. It's another type of players because we play away in the Champions League. In the game before against Nottingham they played really well and can hopefully play well tonight."

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias says how they respond to their poor run, and not all their trophies, could define their "legacy".

City have won 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles in and the Champions League in eight years under Pep Guardiola.

But they are currently on a run of one win in nine games.

"It doesn't really matter how much you have accomplished in the past, how much you are going to accomplish, you are always going to be demanded more of," said Portugal centre-back Dias.

"You are always going to demand more of yourself and always going to want more as well.

"The fact that people doubt is the one thing that brings you strength, the one thing that inspires you to be greater and greater.

"This is our legacy. More than the Treble or the four Premier Leagues in a row. All of it is spectacular but I do believe that the one thing that defines a legacy is how you reacted in the most difficult moment of your career.

"I am a true believer in those moments being the ones that define you. We embrace the difficult moments because those are the ones I personally will remember."

Juventus v Manchester City (20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to TNT Sport: "It was painful in terms of results. The results would be better in the past to sleep better but the results in the past don't change what we have to do [against Juventus]."

Is the hardest period of his managerial career? "The exceptional thing is when you win four Premier Leagues in a row and six in seven [years]. People think that this team cannot lose and the problem is that they are wrong. Of course you can lose.

"Sooner or later you drop a little bit and what you have to do immediately is to get up."

On Juventus: "We don't have seven or eight games to come back. We have three games. It's Juventus, Juventus are the best team in Italy in terms of Serie A titles won. Difficult place to come but that's what it is all about - to challenge against the best."

On his team's mentality: "I'm not able to make surgery in the brains of the players and see what they are thinking with their mentality. We suffer a lot but defines the teams, the players, the managers and everything in the club. The difficulties is what we have to and now is the moment."

Juventus v Manchester City (20:00 GMT)

Juventus boss Thiago Motta: "It is a great opportunity for us to face a great club like Manchester City.

"We have prepared to give it our all in the game, carefully studying what we must do and what we must not do against such a huge opponent.

"I cannot pass judgement on their current situation, but this is a team that has proven their immense value over the years, so I have enormous respect for them and for their coach Pep Guardiola, for whom facts simply speak for themselves, as he has managed to win everything and consistently.

"Commanding the game is not just about possession but attitude: we know that Manchester City want to attack and keep the ball; we will have to defend well and show great quality when we have possession."
