Mitoma just sent those two Everton defenders to the shops before hitting the cross bar. I know Everton aren’t used to this stadium but they do know they’re at home don’t they? Playing like away team here.

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

Brighton look levels above Everton right now and that's probably why the Hill Dickinson Stadium is very quiet.

There's a nervy tension among the crowd as Brighton push forwards.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Emma Smith
    BBC Sport at Selhurst Park

Nottingham Forest director of football Edu is in the stands at Selhurst Park.

There has been some talk that Nuno's antipathy with the upper echelons at Forest is more with him than Evangelos Marinakis, given the club's lukewarm summer in the transfer market.

One wonders what Edu and Nuno said to each other today, if anything at all.

Tom: I have to disagree with Jack @ 14:07. This new stadium of Everton's lacks atmosphere. You could feel the Goodison atmosphere through the TV. I'm watching this one and there's hardly any noise. The new stadiums are all copy and paste, with an obvious lack of history and heritage about them.

  8. 'Everton should be behind'published at 14:22 British Summer Time 24 August

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Hill Dickinson stadium

Everton should be behind. That is a second great chance in as many minutes for Brighton. You have to say that the ball is behind Welbeck but he has nothing in front of him but an empty net.

  9. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 24 August

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

James Garner sends one in towards the front post but Thierno Barry gets too much on his header and it flies over.

  10. Postpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 24 August

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Nottingham Forest

56% of Crystal Palace's attacks have come down their left-hand side.

Meanwhile, only 44% of Crystal Palace's passes have been under pressure from opponents, compared to 62% of Forest's passes.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler must be wondering how his side aren't ahead as Jack Grealish wins a corner.

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Hill Dickinson stadium

That was a classic one touch move i.e one lump from the back to Mitoma, he flicks it over the head of the defender, Gascoigne-esque and when it drops down to his feet he hits it off the crossbar. Very unlucky.

  13. CLOSE!published at 14:20 British Summer Time 24 August

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

Danny Welbeck misses an absolute sitter!

Yankuba Minteh nudges Idrissa Gueye off the ball and squares it for Welbeck but he scoops over the top from six yards out.

  16. 'Lacroix knew what he was doing'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 24 August

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Sue Smith
Former Leeds and England forward on BBC Radio 5 Live at Selhurst Park

Maxence Lacroix knew exactly what he was doing there.

Morgan Gibbs-White picked the ball up and he looked for the space on the right-hand-side and it was a stray leg from Lacroix that brings him down.

Rightly so, he gets a yellow card.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 24 August

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Maxence Lacroix can have no complaints about that!

The Palace player is booked for a deliberate trip on Morgan Gibbs-White just as the Forest skipper was getting up to full speed.

    Naughty.

  18. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 24 August

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

Kaoru Mitoma, that is simply stunning and so unlucky.

Brighton go long to Mitoma, he controls, dinks it over the head of James Tarkowski and volleys off the bar.

  19. 'Brighton look very, very good on the break'published at 14:18 British Summer Time 24 August

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Hill Dickinson stadium

Brighton look very, very good on the break don't they? As soon as Everton get into the final third and lose the ball the wingers are away. And they have Welbeck who is so intelligent and can hold up the ball and bring those runners into play.

  20. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 24 August

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

Everton look to break through Idrissa Gueye. He looks forward to Thierno Barry but there's too much on the pass.

Not much from the Toffees in attack just yet.
