From an external perspective, I am fascinated by Trevoh Chalobah's standing this season at Chelsea and think that possibly plays into questions over Maresca's squad management and approach this season. Farmed out to Palace on loan but now starts ahead of two CBs on the bench and Disasi was sent out to Villa. What changed?

Noni Madueke has caught that strike with his laces. He opens up the the space for the shot with a good touch and it's a good save from Pickford.

    That's better from Chelsea.

When you recover the ball against this Everton low block you have to go forward quickly. They went direct and didn't quite get it right but it's positive.

Chelsea take the corner short and the eventual ball in is cleared for another corner, which is cleared by Jarrad Branthwaite.

Moments later Pedro Neto puts in a decent cross that just evades Noni Madueke.

Jordan Pickford does very well there. Pedro Neto comes short to go long and almost gets there.

Chelsea need to do more of that, it gets the crowd going.

Re: Conor and Bryan's messages. You’re both right. Enzo Maresca has done some good work but has made some bad mistakes. Digging out the fans has made those mistakes the focus. He needs another season to show his progress.

The first opportunity Everton have to put the ball right on Robert Sanchez and they do it and Beto gets in there. Sanchez has been struggling of late.

Conor @ 12:28 - Appreciate your opinion, but it's wrong! Going into the season, no one predicted Chelsea to be competing for Champions League. Maresca has built a team and a playing style, managed a huge squad with big personalities, and created a solid foundation for next season.

Enzo Maresca is sat at the back of the press box for this match.

The Stamford Bridge media area is one of the best in the country and is right behind both the away and home benches.

Curiously, Maresca is actually sat behind David Moyes' away bench but it is probably just because the seat has the quickest access too and from the tunnel.

If he wants to do 500 words for BBC Sport then I am sure we can find a way.

One thing to watch out for is Pedro Neto on the left wing. It is crucial that playing against a low block today he gets at the full-back, goes down the outside and gets some crosses into the box.

If Chelsea don't get CL football Maresca is the one to blame. Bizarre team selections, falling out with fans, defensively weak set ups while playing dull football - how does it improve?

When James Tarkowski went off it kind of fell apart for Everton, also the two late Man City substitutes came on and made an impact.

It is a makeshift back four today, it is a trial, but they will give it a go. It is also a chance for Jarrad Branthwaite to step up as a leader and show what he can do.
