  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2024

    Burnley 0-0 Derby

After a promising few opening minutes, Burnley have let the visitors settle in.

Though when Jeremy Sarmiento cuts the ball through to Josh Brownhill, the Clarets captain delivers a fine strike towards goal.

The shot is good but the cat-like save from Derby keeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom is better and keeps his side out of trouble.

    Luton 0-1 Stoke

Rob Edwards' team have responded well to the early goal, with the returning Tahith Chong looking to create for the hosts.

The former Manchester United midfielder swings in a good cross for Carlton Morris, which the captain meets with his head and sends a looping header goalwards but it's a comfortable take for Potters keeper Viktor Johansson.

  4. 'Sunderland need to keep pressure on'published at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2024

    Nick Barnes
    BBC Newcastle's Sunderland commentator

Sunderland need to keep the pressure on when they get this cycle of play.

They've had some half chances but have been unable to take them.

When Leeds are at they can destroy teams. I've done a lot of work for radio and seen a lot of teams in the Championship but Leeds have the traits of a Premier League team.

I think Daniel Farke is a clever worker and he's proven at Norwich he can work at the highest level.

The difference is in the Premier League if you give the ball away it's in the back of the net but in the Championship it might be in the back of the net.

Missing out last season was a big thing for me because they lost players but they've bought in players and it's been a gamble but they also have Premier League players.

  7. Postpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2024

    Portsmouth 0-0 Norwich

For the second time this week Norwich visit the ground of a team who start the day in the bottom three.

They lost comprehensively at Loftus Road but they've made a bright start to this one, with Emiliano Marcondes' header drawing a save from Pompey keeper Nicolas Schmid.

It was a comfortable save for the Austrian.

Sunderland flash in a cross from the left wing which just evades the waiting red and white striped shirts in the area.

That came after Max Bird's low shot from inside the box for Bristol City was saved by Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson at the other end.

Middlesbrough have been moving up the Championship rather nicely since the clocks went back, scoring goals for fun.

They showed a good account of themselves in drawing at Burnley four nights ago and now Michael Carrick’s side have a visit to another one of the sides above them.

A visit to a wet and wild Turf Moor is one thing. But this is Elland Road, one of English football’s most atmospheric arenas.

Leeds have won their last seven games here while Middlesbrough have won none of their last eight league visits to this ground, although they did win 3-0 here in the EFL Cup in August.

Come away from tonight with three points, and we can add Boro’s name to the list of automatic promotion contenders for the post-Christmas slog.

Owls forward Anthony Musaba has the opportunity to grab an early lead after bursting towards goal but his effort is poor and goes wandering far wide of the target.

  11. 'A good solid start from City'published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2024

    Sunderland 0-0 Bristol City

    Gary Owers
Former Sunderland & Bristol City midfielder on BBC Radio Bristol

It's been a good solid start from City.

You've got to try and get the crowd not too involved but that can go the other way if they get frustrated.

  12. Postpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2024

    Plymouth 0-0 Swansea

If Plymouth are to drag themselves out of trouble, their home form is likely to be critical - 15 of their 17 league points this season have been gained at Home Park.

They have a tough December ahead, with fixtures against Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Coventry to follow this game against Swansea.

Well I said earlier the first goal in this game could be crucial - the opening scorers have won all six previous meetings between these two teams - and it's the visitors who make the breakthrough.

Tom Cannon races through to pick up a wonderful through ball from Million Manhoef and places the ball neatly beyond Thomas Kaminski in the Luton goal for his eighth goal of the season.

  14. Postpublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2024

    Burnley 0-0 Derby

Lots of early possession for the home side at Turf Moor.

Derby's Ebou Adams brings down a man in Claret to give away a needless free kick in a decent area.

Luckily for the Rams man, it doesn't result in any early damage.

  15. Postpublished at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2024

    Sunderland 0-0 Bristol City

Sunderland are one of four teams that are unbeaten at home in the Championship this season, along with Sheffield United, Burnley and Watford.

They've made the early running in the first couple of minutes at The Stadium of Light, winning an early corner, which is easily cleared away at the near post.

We know how Tom Watson is highly thought of, it was just a case of when.

He's a young lad finding his feet but he can go inside and outside.

It's important they get the ball to him early and let his confidence grow.

    It's great for him.

Top scorer Tommy Conway starts on the substitutes' bench for Middlesbrough, with Emmanuel Latte Lath leading the line.
