  1. 'There is nothing we can't achieve together'published at 14:09 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2024

    Nott'm Forest v Ipswich (15:00 GMT)

Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi says the team's "togetherness" is the key to their strong start to this season and they do not believe that they are overachieving by sitting seventh in the Premier League table.

"We can't get distracted or big-headed about what has been happening," said Hudson-Odoi on BBC Radio Nottingham's Shut Up And Show More Football podcast.

"We have to make sure we're pushing ourselves daily to get results because every game is important.

"We have high expectations of ourselves because the quality we have in the squad is amazing. If we push each other every day, as players and fans, then the results will come.

"There is nothing we can't achieve together and it is very important to have that mindset.

"Last season was difficult but we pushed together and got enough to stay in the Premier League. Football is not easy but that togetherness makes us stronger.

"We have a good bond off the pitch."

For some reason people often think that I am quite petty when it comes to these predictions, and that I occasionally use them to make a point.

So, I would like to remind Ipswich fans that I correctly predicted they would draw 1-1 with Manchester United last week and, importantly, the points I earned for that handed me victory in that round of games.

I know that many Ipswich fans were pleased for me and I think it showed that, despite my allegiance to Norwich, I don’t hold any grudges against them.

On to this week, and I hope Ipswich get absolutely pumped by Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

I should explain that Forest were my boyhood team, so that is the only reason why I am rooting for them here. Mind you, if Forest play like they did in their previous home game against Newcastle, then I will be sending my replica shirt back to the club shop, and giving up on them again.

Being serious, though, I like this Ipswich team. They have got some good players and play some good football. They deserved to beat United, and would have done if not for a couple of superb saves by Andre Onana.

Still, I expect Forest to bounce back at the City Ground after two defeats in a row. Chris Wood has to be back in the team after starting last weekend's defeat against Arsenal on the bench, but if he plays then they will come out on top.

  6. Van Nistelrooy 'excited to start'published at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2024

    Brentford v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

Ruud van Nistelrooy says the history of Leicester City is "impressive" after being unveiled as new manager.

The former Manchester United striker has signed a three-year deal at King Power Stadium but will not be in charge for Saturday's trip to Brentford. Rather, he will be in the dugout for the first time on Tuesday at home to West Ham United.

"I'm proud, I'm excited," Van Nistelrooy said. "Everybody that I speak to about Leicester City Football Club is enthusiastic.

"They have great stories about the quality of the people working at the club, the supporters and, of course, the recent history of the club is impressive.

"I’m excited to start and to get to know everyone and give everything I can."

Foxes chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha added: "Ruud’s experience, knowledge, and winning mentality will undoubtedly bring great value to us, and we look forward to supporting him in achieving success for our fans and our club.

"He joins a club with a rich history, passionate supporters, and a talented squad, and we are all excited to see the impact he can have as we embark on this new chapter together."

It's like you have been married for 40 years with Gary O'Neil.

He's a clever guy, and he's going to nag and nag away. I played with him and he just moans all the time.

He has clear ideas and when he buys into something, he really buys into it.

He played the Tiger Woods golf game and he would be chanting away to himself.

He said, "I'm up in the rankings and fifth in the world." So, when he buys into something there is no letting go.

  14. 'Wolves on a gentler run'published at 13:46 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2024

    Wolves v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
    BBC Sport predictions expert

Fair play to Wolves boss Gary O'Neil for his side's run of form. They are on a gentler run of fixtures now, after such a tough start to the season, and with two wins and two draws from their past four games it looks like they have turned the corner.

Even so, it is fair to say I did not see Wolves' big win at Fulham coming, but Matheus Cunha is on fire at the moment and will take some stopping here.

I don't think Bournemouth will keep Wolves out but they always create plenty of opportunities themselves. They were unlucky to lose to Brighton last time out, and it was a similar story against Brentford as well.

I am expecting goals in this game too, but this time the Cherries will get a battling point.

  15. Can under-pressure O'Neil ease Wolves pressure?published at 13:43 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2024

    Wolves v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Molineux

Wolves start today's action 17th and only out of the bottom three on goal difference.

A loss to Bournemouth at home would see them return to the bottom three - if either Ipswich or Crystal Palace get anything from their games against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle respectively.

For Wolves boss Gary O'Neil, it is a match against a side he managed for most of the 2022-23 campaign. He was appointed Bournemouth manager late in August 2022, just after the Cherries had been humiliated 9-0 at Liverpool.

O'Neil kept Bournemouth up, finishing 15th, but still lost his job in the summer. He has been under pressure at Wolves this season with home fans chanting "you don't know what you're doing" at him when he made a triple substitution in the 2-2 draw with Palace at the start of this month.

Wolves have had an extremely difficult start to the season though, and have played 10 of the current top 11. However, their form has picked up with eight of their nine points coming from their past four matches - two wins and two draws. Can they continue their recovery, or will the home fans turn against the manager?

  18. 'I was at laser tag'published at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2024

    Brentford v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

    Big news this week.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has now been appointed Leicester boss but, following Steve Cooper's sacking last week, coach Ben Dawson was asked to take charge of the Foxes in the interim period.

Incredibly, Dawson took that phone call while at laser tag with his family.

"I was at laser tag with my two boys and my wife and a group of grassroots players and parents. I tried to look relaxed and calm. Then the news breaks publicly and you face a lot of questions.

"Like the players, it's my time off, I'm trying to spend a bit of time with my family, switch off and detach so I can come back refreshed and ready to go."
