  1. 'We rely on Cole for everything'published at 19:19 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Southampton (20:15 GMT)

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca says he is "not concerned about Cole [Palmer]" after the English forward has had a dip in form.

"During the season he can have some moments where he struggles a little bit more. With Cole, we rely on Cole for everything," added Maresca.

Palmer, 22, has not scored since Chelsea's 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on the 14 January.

However, Palmer still has the most goal contributions in the Premier League for Chelsea - 14 goals and six assists.

    Chelsea v Southampton (20:15 GMT)

    Southampton

Southampton's last visit to Stamford Bridge came in the 2022-23 campaign which the Saints won 1-0.

Both sides have failed to win in their last thee games, but boss Ivan Juric believes Chelsea "are an incredible team with incredible players".

"They have had two bad results but they are great, so we have to play well."

  4. Southampton in danger of setting unwanted recordpublished at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Southampton (20:15 GMT)

Southampton may well be resigned to their fate of playing Championship football next season but they certainly won't want to finish as the worst Premier League team in history.

Having only picked up nine points so far, they are two points behind the 11 points Derby collected in 2007-08.

  5. 'Maresca has done too much with goalkeeper situation'published at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

Former Chelsea & Fulham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The goalkeeping situation at Chelsea has been ongoing all season, with uncertainty who is number one, there's a lot of chopping and changing.

Of course over a season you have dips in form and injuries now and again but certainly with the goalkeeping situation Enzo Maresca has done too much there.

  6. Jorgensen retains Chelsea number one spotpublished at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Southampton (20:15 GMT)

Enzo Maresca has opted to let Filip Jorgensen keep his place in the Chelsea goal after his terrible mistake at Villa Park to allow Marco Asensio's winner slip under his body.

  7. Curious case of Wesley Fofana's returnpublished at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Southampton (20:15 GMT)

    Nizaar Kinsella
BBC Sport football news reporter at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana was expected to be out for the season and then he wasn't.

Initially, after his hamstring injury sustained against Aston Villa in December, manager Enzo Maresca said: "Unfortunately he [Fofana] could be out for the season, yes."

He since rowed back on those comments and now Fofana returns to the matchday squad.

The centre-back's physicality is key for Chelsea's defence which looks lightweight without it.

  8. 'Chelsea have hit a wall'published at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Southampton (20:15 GMT)

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea & Fulham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea have hit a wall. There is no doubt about it. They have dropped in performance levels and there is seemingly a slight lack in confidence in some regards.

There is a whole array of things that could have happened. They were very briefly spoken about as title contenders, could they push the likes of Liverpool, City and Arsenal? That fell away quite quickly in the end.

It is predominantly a young squad that is still getting used to the league. There seems to be more directon this season with the way that they are playing but there is still a long way to go.

Re: 18:28. Chelsea fans think they have it bad? Try supporting Southampton. Since we last played (and beat) them at Stamford Bridge in February 2023 our Premier league record is: Played 41; Won 3; Drawn 7; Lost 31.

  10. 'A Fulham win would put them in European mix'published at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Wolves v Fulham (19:30 GMT)

    Andy Reid
Former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think if Fulham can win tonight they potentially give themselves a chance of being in the mix for Europe. If they lose then it will be a struggle, so it is a big game for them.

  11. 'I have been wrong so often about Fulham'published at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Wolves v Fulham (19:30 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
    Premier League winner with Blackburn

Matheus Cunha is on fire for Wolves, with four goals in his past four games in all competitions, and his side are now five points clear of the relegation zone with a better goal difference than the teams below them.

They wiped the floor with Fulham at Craven Cottage earlier in the season too, and Cunha scored twice in a 4-1 victory.

It all points towards a Wolves win here too, but I cannot seem to get a Fulham prediction right at the moment so I need to have a proper think about this one.

Because I have been wrong, so often, about Fulham, I am going for the opposite of what I think will happen and back them to win.

Marco Silva's side do actually seem to be better on the road than at home right now, and they beat Newcastle in their last away league game. They didn't click at the weekend against Crystal Palace but they usually have a goal or two in them.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-2

  12. 'It's best to play a game soon after a bad result'published at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Wolves v Fulham (19:30 GMT)

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva appreciates the threat of Wolves talisman Matheus Cunha, ahead of the Cottagers' trip to Molineux, but says it is down to his team to bounce back from Saturday's loss against Crystal Palace.

"It is not fair [to only talk about him], but we have to be realistic as well," said the Fulham boss. "He's a player who in any moment of the game can be decisive, can score, can assist.

"We know if we are at our best level then we are able to do it and able to control well the Wolves team. When we are able to do it, punish with our quality.

"When you have that type of game where you don't perform at the level you wanted, the best way is to play a quick game again."

  13. Pereira warns against complacencypublished at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Wolves v Fulham (19:30 GMT)

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Victor Pereira admits Wolves do not have enough of an advantage in the fight for survival to relax.

Saturday's win at Bournemouth lifted Wolves five points clear of the bottom three ahead of Tuesday's visit of Fulham, and victory would move them eight points clear of the Premier League's drop zone with Ipswich and Leicester not playing until later in the week.

"They are far away [the teams above]. When I look at the bottom, they are very close to me," said Pereira.

"It's not [a big enough gap to the relegation zone]. It's why I'm not speaking about the last game, it was good but now I don't care. Fulham we must analyse individually, collectively, and to understand what we must do with our game.

"We must feel our confidence as a team, we must be compact and consistent. We must score more goals - it's something we can improve on."

Joshua Worrall: We have promoted and driven a culture within English football that finishing 4th/5th/6th is a massive achievement. Success for me is measured in trophies. People will disagree however. Who’s going to remember who came fourth in 2025 in 50 years time? That’s my point.

  15. 'European spots very much up for grabs'published at 19:07 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea & Fulham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Champions League and other European spots are still very much for grabs.

Nottingham Forest have lost their last two games and are on 47 points, Chelsea have as well and are on 43 points in seventh, and Villa are just a point behind them. There are three places that are very much open for any one of five, six or seven teams to get there.

It is all about who is going to put together a run of games and find some consistency to claim their spot.

  16. Team news - Sancho starts; Jorgensen keeps placepublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea v Southampton (20:15 GMT)

The big Chelsea team news is goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen keeping his place despite being at fault for Aston Villa's late winner at the weekend.

Subs: Sanchez, Dewsbury-Hall, James, Fofana, George, Acheampong, Amougou, Samuels-Smith, Mheuka.

  17. 'I am not sure Villa will pick up three points here'published at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa (19:30 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
    BBC Sport football expert

It looks like fifth place will get you into the Champions League next season and that is the most interesting race at the top now the title is pretty much done and dusted.

Half of the Premier League will feel they have a chance of making it and Aston Villa are definitely one of those sides in the hunt.

I am not sure Villa will pick up three points here, though.

Crystal Palace don't score many goals at home - just 12 in 13 league games this season - and they don't win that many there either, just two so far in fact.

But at the same time, Villa are not great on the road - they have only won once away in the Premier League since the middle of October.

I don't like to mention it but I was exactly right about Villa beating Chelsea 2-1 at the weekend, and I feel like they are a much easier team to predict than Palace are.

People are getting excited about what Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio will do in Unai Emery's side but I think this is a tough game for Villa, especially with the form Jean-Philippe Mateta is in for Palace.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa (19:30 GMT)

    Alan Hutton
Former Aston Villa defender on TNT Sports

If you look at the last two performances Aston Villa can take a lot of confidence from that, but the one problem is their away form.

If they want to challenge for the top four, it's something they need to turnaround and it needs to happen tonight.

  19. 'I am looking forward to playing this match'published at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa (19:30 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports: "Keep moving forward and try to make the best decisions with which players are available to play. Some might not feel 100% fit to play as well. We've had to try to get our performances collectively.

"Very difficult here. Away is always difficult and it's about challenging, how we can be consistent and compete. Crystal Palace are in good form. Tactically they are strong. I am looking forward to playing this match."

  20. The Rashford and Asensio showpublished at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa (19:30 GMT)

Aston Villa fans must've been in dreamland when they captured Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio at the end of the January transfer window. The two combined brilliantly with Rashford assisting both of Asensio's goals in the 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday evening.

    Same again tonight?
