As a West Ham fan, I have absolutely zero hope going into this game today. Sutton has gone for a 3-0 loss… I think that’s over generous. We’ll probably stay up due to points already accrued but Potter has to get it right in the summer or next season could be a very ugly one indeed!

    Arsenal 0-0 West Ham

The first signs of vulnerability in the West Ham backline. Arsenal manage to get in a couple of dangerous crosses, the second delivered by Leandro Trossard from the left, but there's no team-mate waiting to pounce in the six-yard box and it's hooked clear.

The Hammers are retreating deeper and deeper.

  3. CLOSE!published at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Bournemouth 0-0 Wolves

Wolves have grown into this. Matheus Cunha chops one onto his left foot and tries to curl into the bottom corner but Kepa is able to get down and push away.

That would have been similar to Cunha's goal at Anfield against Liverpool last Sunday.

Toti Gomes then makes a late run into the box to meet a free-kick from the left, but if anything he gets too much contact on it and it clears the bar.

    Southampton 0-0 Brighton

This doesn't look good. Southampton captain Jan Bednarek is down with a leg injury, and will have to be replaced.

Armel Bella-Kotchap will be coming on for his first Saints appearance since May, 2023. He was on loan at PSV last season.

I can't take my eyes off this game.

Ipswich have had the chances, but they've not taken them - they have got to be ruthless.

Merino is clearly still getting used to playing up front. He doesn’t quite seem to be used to the positions he’s taking up

    Fulham 0-0 Crystal Palace

A corner from the right is cleared by Crystal Palace.

Antonee Robinson runs onto it and takes aim from range but his effort takes a little nick and is a comfortable save for Dean Henderson.

West Ham are very much penned in their own half for the time being, although Arsenal haven't yet created an opening and we still await the first attempt of the match.

Mikel Merino is penalised for a foul as he challenges Aaron Cresswell for a long ball forward. West Ham have come with a game plan to stay compact and to that extent it's so far, so good for the Hammers.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORK - Wolvespublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Bournemouth 0-0 Wolves

From nowhere Wolves are almost ahead!

Nelson Semedo drifts in from the right and takes on a left-footed effort from outside the area. It skips off the turf and crashes off the base of the post. So unlucky!

The loose ball falls for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Kepa does brilliantly to keep it out with a strong wrist.

    Great start to this game.

Big save from the boot of Aaron Ramsdale who keeps out a low Georginio Rutter effort.

    Brighton have started the brighter.

    Rob Green

West Ham don't really have a natural out, a player they can play a long ball up to. Normally you think Tomas Soucek but he is occupied trying to provide an option in midfield.

They are having to go backwards and are inviting more pressure on themselves and Arsenal are pressing and doing it well.

  12. HITS THE WOODWORK - IPSWICHpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham

Ipswich could have had three by now and we're only six minutes in.

It's a fabulous cross in from Kalvin Phillips and Liam Delap rises highest to meet it with a glancing header which clips the edge of the far post.

  13. Postpublished at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Bournemouth 0-0 Wolves

As you may have expected, it is all Bournemouth on a gloriously sunny south coast.

Antoine Semenyo is crowded out initially but the loose ball drops to him and he's able to drive a cross in, which Jose Sa beats behind.

    The corner is cleared though.

I know Merino was effective against Leicester but I’m not sure about starting him. I feel like we’re opening with Plan B.

  15. 'West Ham will deal better with Merino than Leicester'published at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Arsenal 0-0 West Ham

    Theo Walcott
Former Arsenal forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

The history of West Ham teams is that they are always strong dealing with balls into the area. I would have gone with more pace in the Arsenal side just to stretch that back line, but of course they are limited with the players tat they have available.

Mikel Merino will be playing with confidence from his performance last week but I think West Ham will be able to deal better with him than Leicester last week.

    Arsenal 0-0 West Ham

While West Ham did win at the Emirates last season, Arsenal have won the past two league meetings by an aggregate score of 11-2. Arsenal, as would be expected, are seeing more of the ball in the early stages, but it's been a solid enough start by the Hammers.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

And an early booking for Southampton's Lesley Ugochukwu who is both reckless and late on Joao Pedro.
