1. I've had eight pints in the Yellow Wall - Carragherpublished at 10:16 British Summer Time 2 May

    Borussia Dortmund 1-0 PSG

We told you earlier about Jadon Sancho's comments to American broadcaster CBS Sports about being welcomed back by Borussia Dortmund.

They were in response to a searching question by former Premier League legend Jamie Carragher, who asked the England winger what "resonates" with him about the club.

It was a moment of clarity in an interview carried out in a fog of German beer, external after the ex-Liverpool defender admitted he had enjoyed his experience of Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park stadium a little too much.

"I might explain why I am slurring my words because I have had about eight pints in the Yellow Wall," explained Carragher, before beckoning over Sancho like a long-lost friend he had just met at a bar.

Carragher, manfully supported by his more sober colleague Peter Schmeichel, proceeded to slur his way through the interview before inviting Sancho to join him for a "few drinks" if Dortmund reach the Champions League final.

"I don't drink," he replied. Very diplomatic!

Preparing for lots of thumbs down… but on current form, both Eric Dier and Jadon Sancho should be going to the Euros with England in the summer. Both playing really well in an outstanding league and could still line up against each other in a Champions League final. Can’t hurt that they’re familiar with German football fans and stadia either!

There are a lot of ifs, buts and maybes in that last post.

Bayern Munich head to Real Madrid next Wednesday (8 May), with the score level at 2-2 following the first leg.

Victory at the Bernabeu would set up a final at Wembley against Paris St-Germain or Borussia Dortmund, which have both been managed by Thomas Tuchel in the past.

Which brings us back to the form of Dortmund's Jadon Sancho...

Thomas Tuchel did not want to discuss the petition before the home leg of Bayern Munich's Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

But with Bayern's latest bid to find a potential successor now blocked by Ralf Rangnick's desire to stay as Austria manager, could the Bundesliga club be about to make a U-turn?

At present, 18,500 supporters have shown their desire for Tuchel's stay to be extended by signing the petition.

If he guides Bayern to victory in this season's Champions League then that number is sure to swell.

BBC Sport reported last Friday that Bayern Munich supporters have been petitioning the club to allow current boss Thomas Tuchel to stay.

Bayern announced in February that Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season, a year before his contract ends.

The petition calling for the 50-year-old to stay at the Allianz Arena has been signed by more than 18,500 supporters., external

The former Chelsea manager said before Tuesday's draw at home to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final that he would not allow himself to be "influenced" by the petition.

"Even though this topic is good for me when they [the fans] wish you to stay, it's not something that is a priority," said Tuchel.

Bayern Munich have been dealt another blow in their search for a new head coach.

After moves for Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann proved fruitless, Bayern were in talks with former Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who is currently coaching the Austrian national team.

However, Rangnick has decided to stick with his present employers, who have confirmed the news on social media., external

For Jadon Sancho though, there was no getting carried away about last night's performance for Borussia Dortmund as he batted away any post-match questions about his future.

The English winger told CBS: "When we have our fans we are so motivated from the start. But this tie is not over, we still have to go to Paris and get the job done.

"I appreciate all the compliments but I take it game by game. Performances like today, I hope can carry on.

"I came here at 17, they gave me the opportunity to play professional football and I am delighted to be welcomed back and I am focused on the present right now."

"His body language suggested he believes. There was a bit of arrogance. At United he didn’t commit people but Jadon answered a lot of questions. He outplayed every player on the pitch and there are world-class players.

Today's Express also says that Borussia Dortmund are in 'good nic for Paris' after Niclas Fullkrug scored the only goal in their first-leg win over PSG.

The Germany striker, 31, has been directly involved in six Champions League goals this season (3 goals, 3 assists), the joint-most by a German player in their debut campaign in the competition alongside Marco Reus, who was also involved in six goals in 2012-13 for Dortmund (4 goals, 2 assists).

This 5th Champions League place is getting silly now. They need to change the name back to the European Cup. BBC Sport

The Premier League has missed out on a fifth Champions League spot next season.

Borussia Dortmund’s victory over PSG on Wednesday, coupled with Bayern Munich’s draw with Real Madrid on Tuesday, takes the German total in the European Performance Spots table to 18.356.

Even if Aston Villa were to win both legs of their Europa Conference League semi-final with Olympiakos and go on to lift the trophy, England can only reach 18.25.

Germany will now join Italy in getting a fifth automatic spot in next season’s tournament.

Both countries could have six representatives, if Dortmund win the Champions League and finish outside the top four in the Bundesliga and either Atalanta or Roma win the Europa League.

The winners of both tournaments qualify automatically for the following season’s Champions League.

Jadon Sancho also features on the back of today's Daily Mirror after helping Borussia Dortmund claim a 1-0 first-leg lead against Paris St-Germain.

It meant that the German side won back-to-back games in the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time since the 2012-13 quarter-final/semi-final, when they would eventually lose in the final to Bayern Munich.

That final was the last to be held at Wembley, where this season's final will be played. With Bayern Munich playing Real Madrid in the other semi-final, could there be a repeat?
