    Guido Schäfer
German football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

They collect many points RB Leipzig in the league, but their style isn't so nice.

They want to play better and have a better defensive performance. The defence is good, but perhaps they will show a great performance against a world-class team like Liverpool.

Liverpool is the best team for me in Europe to beat them will be a great sensation.

RB Leipzig have had two very tough games, Juventus aren't bad and Atletico Madrid aren't bad and they just lost them narrowly.

They've lost two goals in the Bundesliga so far. They're [joint] top of their league and they're no fools so this should be a really exciting game, added to the fact they play an attacking style of football, that's the way Liverpool like to play it, so we must have an interesting game.

  5. 'City must make home advantage count'published at 19:57 British Summer Time 23 October

Man City v Sparta Prague (20:00 BST)

    Steph Houghton
Former Manchester City defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Manchester City have some big games coming up away in the Champions League against Sporting, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Not many teams find joy at the Etihad. In this competition, when you've got games coming thick and fast, it is so important to use that home crowd and your own stadium to your advantage.

  6. Grealish & Doku injuredpublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 23 October

Man City v Sparta Prague (20:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Pep Guardiola talking to TNT Sports about omissions of Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish: "Both are injured. Jeremy [Doku] a little bit longer I think than Jack [Grealish] but both are injured after last games. I don't know [how long they will be out]. Hopefully Jack, one week, ten days. Jeremy a little longer."

On coming from behind: "It's the situation, it's football. It doesn't mean the fact that we know what happened, it doesn't mean we can talk, it doesn't mean we try to solve it, it can happen. It's important after 95 minutes to be better than the opponent and win the game."

On Sparta Prague's threat: "They are so aggressive, [courageous]. Yesterday Stuttgart won in Turin against Juventus and they were able to, Sparta Prague had to draw in Stuttgart in Germany so it's a team with high pressing, intense and they have really good patterns, the pace up front, I think it's a really good team otherwise it would not have four points."

  7. 'I find it really strange'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 23 October

Man City v Sparta Prague (20:00 BST)

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

On Manchester City only having five outfield players on the bench...

I'll tell you who will be disappointed - the academy manager. It's an opportunity to put players in the squad.

Also from the point of a business aspect, you put a player on for 10 minutes in the game and they've played in the Champions League. Their value goes up and skyrockets.

So from that aspect of the game, I find it really strange.

  8. Lewis 'feels more trusted' by Guardiolapublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 23 October

    Rico LewisImage source, Getty Images

Rico Lewis says he has gained huge confidence from the trust shown in him by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in the opening two months of this season.

The versatile 19-year-old has started all but one of City's games in all competitions so far this campaign, having been used slightly more sparingly in his previous two seasons with the first-team squad.

Asked if he "feels more trusted" by Guardiola this season, England international Lewis said: "It definitely feels it because obviously I'm playing on the pitch, but that's not to say that he didn't trust me when I wasn't playing.

"We've had so many good players who can play in so many different positions and it's difficult to fit everyone in at once.

"But in terms of my confidence, it's massive for it. To have a manager who feels like they can play you in most games is amazing for me."

  9. 'Let's see what Barca are made of'published at 19:53 British Summer Time 23 October

Barcelona v Bayern Munich (20:00 BST)

    Guillem Balague
Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

Barcelona need the points as they lost to Monaco.

It's a key time for Barcelona as they have 10 wins and two defeats this season - they look impressive.

They are very direct, they want to keep the ball and they score so many goals, but they haven't faced a Bayern Munich or a Real Madrid - let's see what they are made of.

  10. Kane to add to his lead?published at 19:52 British Summer Time 23 October

Harry Kane starts tonight against Barcelona. The England skipper is the leading scorer in the Champions League with four goals in two games, will he add to his tally tonight?

RB Leipzig v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I didn't feel like Liverpool were dragged out of their shape against Chelsea.

A few times Malo Gusto nipped off his left-hand-side, but then Liverpool's midfielders dealt with that.

Liverpool looked relatively comfortable until the last ball into the back post. Liverpool looked calm in the situation.

Big test for Liverpool tonight. Defensively we've been good so far this season let's hope it continues tonight. Jota will be missed especially holding up the ball waiting to bring people into play.

  13. 'An incredibly important game'published at 19:49 British Summer Time 23 October

RB Leipzig v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's such an incredibly important game for Liverpool. The Chelsea game wasn't easy for them, but they managed to win it. They've got Arsenal waiting for them in the Premier League on Sunday and this is a tough place to come as well.

Asking all your top players to play every game is not possible. They have to get rested at some point. Curtis Jones is playing well at the moment, but you don't want him to get injured.

The great thing is Arne Slot is not weakening the side massively with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch playing alongside Cody Gakpo.

  14. Salah to haunt Leipzig again?published at 19:48 British Summer Time 23 October

RB Leipzig v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

RB Leipzig and Liverpool have only faced each other twice before, both meetings coming during the Champions League last 16 in 2021. The Reds achieved two 2-0 wins, with Mohamed Salah scoring in both games.

It wouldn't be a shock if the Egyptian found the net once again tonight.

  15. Prague's Olatunji a 'big physical presence'published at 19:46 British Summer Time 23 October

    Joleon Lescott
Former Man City and Wolves defender on TNT Sports

Victor Olatunji is one to watch [for Sparta Prague]. He's a big physical presence, showed great composure in earlier rounds, scored a vital goal, set up another goal, pressed from the front and he's someone that will be high on confidence but we expect it to be limited tonight.

We expect City to dominate possession, so he's got to be super efficient. From a defender's point of view, he's not someone you want to play against, regardless of the scoreline, you know you've been in a game and if he gets up against you, he can manhandle you.

  17. 'Tonight's really important' for Citypublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 23 October

Man City v Sparta Prague (20:00 BST)

    Steph Houghton
Former Manchester City defender on 5 Live Breakfast and Sportsday

It's been good start for Manchester City in the Champions League, to be unbeaten.

Inter Milan are a very very good side and watching the [0-0 draw], it could have gone either way and that's right at the beginning of the season when City are just getting into their rhythm.

Hopefully De Bruyne is back in the next few weeks. Obviously he had a big injury last year and I think sometimes when you have come back and you've played a lot of games in a short space of time, it takes a while for your body to keep adjusting so look, the season's really long, there's a lot of games to play and I think we need a Kevin De Bruyne that's 100% fit.

With City's squad, there's so many talented players, you look at the benches, the likes of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish came on on Sunday [against Wolves], you'd probably be looking for them to start, there's quality all over the squad.

Tonight's really important. The Etihad is a bit of a fortress. It's looking likely that Manchester City will probably be too strong for Prague. It's going to be a good game, I'm excited to watch.

    Here's something I never thought I'd say.

It's slim pickings on the Manchester City bench. Of the seven substitutes they have named, two are goalkeepers. By comparison, Sparta Prague have named 12 substitutes.

Not the depth we're used to seeing from the Premier League champions.

  19. 'Liverpool can almost relax with a win'published at 19:40 British Summer Time 23 October

RB Leipzig v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Steve McManaman
Former Real Madrid winger on TNT Sports

Liverpool have got six points out of six in the Champions League and I mentioned before, they've got Leverkusen and Real Madrid [coming up], they can almost, if they get a victory tonight, sort of relax over the next couple of games, I know they don't want to, but you could make changes, particularly if you've got that sort of opposition at home.

They've got a tough run of Premier League games. If we're still talking this glowingly about Arne Slot at Christmas, then he'll have done an amazing job because he has got Arsenal coming up, he has got Manchester City coming up, he has got Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, he's got Brighton twice in the Carabao Cup, so something will have to give, you would have to suggest.

But momentum is a massive thing, the players are confident, the players are happy, they want to play. These are the games you live for, these are the games you want to play in.

  20. Leipzig a strong team - Slotpublished at 19:38 British Summer Time 23 October

RB Leipzig v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot talking to TNT Sports about opponents RB Leipzig: "You only have to look at their current results in the Bundesliga to know they are a strong team. If you look at their results last season in the Champions League you'll also know how difficult it is to play here. They were a bit unlucky in their first two results in the Champions League but it's a very strong team we face today."

On team selection considering Premier League fixtures: "I've tried to pick, in my opinion, the best possible team for tonight. Of course you take into account that we played only two days ago so that means for example, [Konstantinos Tsimikas] is playing instead of [Andy Robertson]. With Curtis Jones, I think in everybody's opinion he was the best player on the pitch [against Chelsea] but if you dive a bit deeper into it, you also know that he's only played two games this season from the start, didn't not finish any of the two, so for me it was a bit too early to, two days later, play him again and then if you have [Alexis Mac Allister], who is back from being sick, it's in my opinion a logical choice to make."

On Nunez replacing Jota: "What you're always hoping with a striker is [them] scoring but apart from scoring, I think Diego [Jota] but also Darwin [Nunez] when he came in against Chelsea showed how important he was for us also without the ball in his pressing but in the end strikers are on the team sheet mostly for scoring so I'm hoping he can bring them to us today."
