Arsenal were pushed all the way.

Shakhtar Donetsk surprised me, they got confidence from Arsenal not taking their chances. The save from David Raya at the end was a brilliant save.

In attack Arsenal had numerous chances to put this game to bed. It is a good response from the defeat at the weekend, but it has come with a cost as Riccardo Calafiori hobbled off.

In terms of the Champions League Arsenal are in a pretty good position.

    What drama!

PSG thought they had a penalty right at the end but it was overturned after the ref took a trip to the screen.

That's just two goals and four points from three games for the hosts.

  4. 'Perfect night for Villa'published at 21:57 British Summer Time

    FT: Aston Villa 2-0 Bologna

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

Perfect night for Villa. A clean sheet, two good goals, Jhon Duran starts and scores, Ian Maatsen came into the side and played really well. There was no failure in the side tonight.

We felt the vibe in the stadium before the game and the good feeling continues. Bologna offered a bit of threat in the first half but you felt that the Villa goals took the stuffing out of them and Villa ran out deserved winners in the end.

  5. Vinicius Junior gets his hat-trickpublished at 21:54 British Summer Time

No mercy from Real Madrid! Vinicius Junior drives forward again with another mazy run and hammers a shot into the roof of the net to complete his hat-trick.

The Balon d'Or will be up for grabs this week...

Matty AFC: Partey man of the match by a mile today. Honourable mention to Havertz, who's had a decent shift and should have taken the penalty.

Jacob Ramsey is denied one-on-one seconds before the whistle goes.

All over and that's three wins and three clean sheets in the Champions League for Aston Villa. They are making it look easy!

  11. 'A stunning save'published at 21:53 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

That's a stunning save from David Raya. Pedrinho was 30 yards out and I was thinking, 'he can't score from there'.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:53 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Pedro Henrique goes into the book for a lunge on Kai Havertz. Arsenal win a free-kick late on and will surely just take it to the corner.

  13. PENALTY TO PSG!published at 21:52 British Summer Time

    PSG 1-1 PSV

Right at the end the hosts have been given a spot kick!

The goalkeeper did very, very well there. That would have been the simplest of tap ins for Ollie Watkins.

  15. Stuttgart lead late on!published at 21:52 British Summer Time

    Juventus 0-1 Stuttgart

They've missed a penalty, and had a goal controversially ruled out, but Stuttgart finally have their winner at Juventus.

A great touch from El Bilal Toure helps him beat his defender before he fires his side in front in the 92nd minute.

  16. Postpublished at 21:51 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Shakhtar are throwing everything at this now.

A lovely delivery comes into the box but Marlon Gomes can't get any direction or power on his header.

A flurry of chances in the final few minutes.

Good work by Lukasz Skorupski as he stretches out his hand to push away a ball across the face of goal and prevent Ollie Watkins having a tap in.

Arsenal are capitulating early this season. I know they're winning this game, but they're playing like they're out of ideas, and energy. They've got about 45 games to go this season before they can get away with lacking energy.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:49 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Well Shakhtar hadn't had a shot on target all night but now they have!

Pedrinho's powerful strike from 30-yards requires a really good save from David Raya down to his left-hand side.

He's not had much to do tonight but that was a big moment.
