    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Woops. Dmytro Riznyk gets a bit lost trying to play out from the back and Gabriel Martinelli chases the goalkeeper to put him under pressure. Riznyk gets away with it but it's a bit shaky.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:09 British Summer Time

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bologna

Ross Barkley might have more yellow cards than touches of the ball as he is booked shortly after coming on for a foul.

  3. Postpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time

    PSG 0-1 PSV

PSG have flattered to deceive so far tonight with Ousmane Dembele wasting two great chances in that first half. Can they step it up a gear to fight back at home?

  4. Postpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Heorhii Sudakov picks the ball up on the edge of the area. He turns and swivels but opts to play the forward pass rather than take the shot on himself and there's no one there to latch onto it.

  5. Postpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bologna

Leon Bailey is then not far off with a shot that trickles just wide of the post. Decent start to the second half by the hosts.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bologna

Charalampos Lykogiannis catches Leon Bailey as the Aston Villa forward tries to race onto a ball through the defence and the Bologna man is booked.

Brilliant from Riccardo Calafiori, he dropped his shoulder and popped the ball out to Martinelli.

Martinelli fizzed it across, but Trossard didn't get the right connection with his head.

    A big opportunity not taken.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:05 British Summer Time

We're back under way at Villa Park.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:05 British Summer Time

Paul: I agree with Sanket at 20:47. The next Arsenal player to get sent off or be banned for multiple yellows through their own stupidity needs to be dropped from our team for a lengthy spell to teach them a lesson. I’m getting sick of the disciplinary issues.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:03 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Indeed, Mikel Merino is on for Ben White. The defender was already on a booking and made a risky challenge towards the end of the first half. With Arsenal's current red card record, perhaps Mikel Arteta didn't want to risk it.

Ben White has not come out for the second half. Surely it is not another injury problem for Arsenal? Mikel Merino comes on in his place. Thomas Partey has gone to right back.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:02 British Summer Time

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Back under way in North London. Can Arsenal increase their lead?

  14. 'Ndoye a problem for Villa'published at 21:01 British Summer Time

    HT: Aston Villa 0-0 Bologna

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on TNT Sports

Dan Ndoye was a problem for Aston Villa in the first half. He was impressive in the Euros for Switzerland and we have seen more of that here. Some cute runs in behind, very sharp, some good passes to pick people out in the middle and he has good awareness of the runners around him.

Can anyone explain how Villa aren't at least a few goals to the good at half time. Completely on top and proving again they're worthy of this level.

For the first 20 minutes or so Aston Villa were under pressure, with Bologna getting in behind Ezri Konsa down the right side, but then they grew into the game.

They created chances, had nine shots, three on target and they were unlucky on a few occasions.

Bit of a pedestrian first half - Arsenal in control, but not really asserting themselves, and only ahead because of an unfortunate deflection. Need to do much better in the second half.

    Martin

As an Arsenal fan I love Gabriel Jesus, but he's awful in front of goal and this team has unfortunately moved past a player of his average ability.

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

    Alex Bysouth

Bit of half-time reading for you.

For Shakhtar Donetsk, the stark realities of war in Ukraine are never far away.

Two days before they were due to play Kryvbas in September, the hotel they were set to be staying in was hit by a Russian missile.

Local media reported four people were killed and more injured in the attack in Kryvyi Rih, just over 40 miles from the nearest Russian-occupied territory and a regular target of air strikes.

"Can you imagine this, our team staying in this hotel and what can happen?" Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin told BBC Sport.

    HT: Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

With the nature of how Shakhtar Donetsk have started this Champions League campaign, they don't carry too much of a threat to Arsenal.

They don't look good enough to play through Arsenal when they're in their 4-4-2 formation.

If Arsenal get another goal I can't see Shakhtar scoring two.
