Arsenal are capitulating early this season. I know they're winning this game, but they're playing like they're out of ideas, and energy. They've got about 45 games to go this season before they can get away with lacking energy.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:49 British Summer Time 22 October

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Well Shakhtar hadn't had a shot on target all night but now they have!

Pedrinho's powerful strike from 30-yards requires a really good save from David Raya down to his left-hand side.

He's not had much to do tonight but that was a big moment.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery reactsImage source, Reuters

As a set-piece coach, there's surely no better feeling than when your side scores from one of your moves.

Still, it is not all about the praise as Unai Emery has a pop at his set-piece coach for Bologna managing to hit the woodwork from a corner just now.

  6. Real grab a fourthpublished at 21:47 British Summer Time 22 October

    Real Madrid 4-2 Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior celebrates scoring their fourth goalImage source, Reuters

That's the game! Real Madrid score a fourth as Vinicius Junior makes a trademark lengthy run before a tidy finish.

From 2-0 down to 4-2 up.

  7. 'Bologna have more fight in them'published at 21:47 British Summer Time 22 October

    Aston Villa 2-0 Bologna

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

Sam Beukema's header just smashes off the post, very unlucky. Emi Martinez was absolutely no where to be seen there. Maybe Bologna have a bit more fight left in them than we gave them credit for just now.

  8. Juve save late penaltypublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 22 October

    Juventus 0-0 Stuttgart

Mattia Perin saves a penalty quick of Stuttgart's French midfielder Enzo MillotImage source, Getty Images

Drama in Turin! Juventus have just conceded a penalty and Danilo is sent off.

Enzo Millot to win it from the spot...no it's saved by Mattia Perin.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 22 October

    Aston Villa 2-0 Bologna

Bologna are giving this a right go now and Sam Beukema smashes a header from a corner against the crossbar.

It is too little too late, though, with just five minutes to go and two goals needed.

Paul: Saw someone earlier say Saliba needed a big game because he had “a lot of making up to do”. I’d say same for Trossard. Got himself stupidly sent off against City and it was his stupid blind hoof of a pass that got Saliba sent off at weekend. That penalty was poor!

  11. 'Arsenal are not seeing this through'published at 21:44 British Summer Time 22 October

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Arsenal are not seeing this through comfortably.

We will see a different type of striker for Shakhtar Donetsk. Eguinaldo is nimble and quick whereas Lassina Traore is stocky and he plays more with his back to goal, he's a hold-up player.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 22 October

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Gabriel Martinelli goes into the book for a last-ditch foul.

This result on paper looks good for Arsenal. Goal, clean sheet, three points. In reality it has been a bit of slog at times.

  13. Real Madrid lead!published at 21:44 British Summer Time 22 October

    Real Madrid 3-2 Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid's Lucas Vazquez scores their third goalImage source, Reuters

They've done it! Real Madrid have completed the turnaround and it's stand-in captain Lucas Vazquez who hammers them in front from a tight angle.

Seconds earlier Julian Brandt should have netted the winner at the other end, but Thibaut Courtois superbly kept him out.

    That's football.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 22 October

    Arsenal 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

David Raya parries away Pedro Henrique fizzed ball and, luckily for the Arsenal keeper, it falls to the feet of a teammate.

Shakhtar are going to make another change as Eguinaldo makes way for Lassina Traore.

Arsenal are making their own problems! The Emirates is so quiet and that's because of what they are seeing on pitch. So slow and ponderous. It's what started it all against Bournemouth and it's happening tonight. Up the tempo!

    Kris, Eastbourne

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:39 British Summer Time 22 October

    Aston Villa 2-0 Bologna

And another nice moment as Boubacar Kamara comes on for his first appearance after eight months out through injury and gets a big applause. He replaces Youri Tielemans.

You can appreciate Bologna pushing a bit more to find a goal but they are wide open at the back.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 22 October

    Aston Villa 2-0 Bologna

A nice moment for Samuel Iling-Junior. The forward is on loan at Bologna from Aston Villa but comes on now for the Italians for his first appearance at Villa Park.

I’m an Arsenal fan. The game’s gone if that’s a pen. Justice prevails.
