How good is Jarrad Branthwaite? He is basically a one-man defence.

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

Diogo Dalot is causing Everton plenty of problems down the left early on.

He gets in behind the Toffees defence again and drives into the area, but his touch is a little heavy and it allows Jarrad Branthwaite to slid in and make the interception.

    That's a razor-sharp finish!

Villa are fuming after Marc Cucurella and Jaden Philogene collide with the Aston Villa player left on the ground in a heap.

But the referee waves play on before Cucurella delivers a low cross into the box. Nicolas Jackson reacts to it quickest, with his shot hitting the inside of the post before going in.

VAR has checked it and the goals stands!

    Tottenham 0-0 Fulham

A popular chant among rival fans is to sing "are you [insert club here] in disguise?" at the opponents.

In the case of Fulham, Spurs supporters have more reason to sing "are you Arsenal in disguise?" at away fans.

Four of Fulham's starting XI today - keeper Bernd Leno and attacking midfield trio Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson - have all previously played for Arsenal.

    Tottenham 0-0 Fulham

Fulham have knocked the ball round nicely in the early stages.

They release Antonee Robinson down the left and he's taken out by Pedro Porro.

It's just outside the area, another yard and it would have been a penalty.

The resulting free-kick is flicked over the bar for a corner.

    Chelsea 0-0 Aston Villa

There's a debate among Chelsea fans about goalkeeper Robert Sanchez's place in the side after one or two under-par displays.

Filip Jorgensen is again having to make do with a place on the bench despite some impressive saves in Europe on Thursday.

Sanchez has had little to do in the opening stages as both teams play it safe.

Really big chance, Son Heung-min should have scored to be honest with you.

He didn't find the corner as much as he would have liked.

Really, really good chance early on and probably one he should have taken.

It's a big opportunity for both teams.

The Chelsea press is strong and tight. Can Aston Villa get out and break high up the pitch?

  9. Postpublished at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2024

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

What has interested me right from the start is Everton playing 4-4-2. Dwight McNeil is playing right up alongside Beto which tells me that they want to get their two wider players to attack the space in behind the wide midfielders of Man United.

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

Manchester United are dominating possession early on at Old Trafford.

Diogo Dalot, who is playing at left wing back, gets down the channel and crosses across the six-yard box but it's sliced clear.

The hosts come again and Kobbie Mainoo has an effort from outside the area easily saved.

An early chance for Son Heung-min as he gets in behind the Fulham defence, but Bernd Leno denies him with an outstretched right boot.

Son is playing through the middle today with Dominic Solanke absent.

Are Chelsea serious contenders for the title?

Not according to boss Enzo Maresca, whose side will go level on 25 points with second-placed Arsenal if they beat Aston Villa.

"No," said the Italian when asked if Chelsea were in the race for the title. "I said many times - I didn't like the pressure. I didn't like to say yes we are there, but we are not there."

  20. Sunday roast at 11ampublished at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2024

    Tottenham v Fulham (13.30 GMT)

    Emma Smith
BBC Sport at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

A spirited debate in the Spurs press area earlier as to which Premier League club has the best pre-match catering. The consensus is that it is a north London rivalry between Spurs and Arsenal as to who provides the best food for the hacks.

Today it's a Sunday dinner spread of roast chicken and Yorkshire pudding, although the earlier kick off means it is being served several hours before when is traditional.

Not that we are complaining - it's a miserable, rainy day in London, so a warming roast at 11am was just what was needed.
