Re Sarah at 13:24, the PSR rules were announced in 2013, well before the Saudi takeover. Blame your own club for not being more forward-thinking and creative, not the rules.

There were three of them offside there. Cristian Romero is very dangerous in the air. It's really good work from Newcastle to all come out together. That's not just luck, that's good work from Eddie Howe.

Son Heung-min curls in an inviting cross from the left but there's nobody in the middle to make a connection.

Eventually, Wilson Odobert's cross is sent straight to Nick Pope.

At home, Chelsea should be beating this Palace side 2 or 3 nil. Let's see if Wolves was a fluke.

The first proper flash from Cole Palmer. He gets it on the right, he then takes it across the box and it's inches wide.

    That's what Palmer can do.

  6. CLOSE!published at 13:44 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Cole Palmer just oozes confidence.

He receives the ball just outside the area, creates some space for himself and attempts to curl it around Dean Henderson.

    Just wide!

That would have been some way for Palmer to celebrate his first anniversary at Stamford Bridge.

  7. Wonderful atmospherepublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 0-0 Tottenham

    Michael Emons
BBC Sport at St James' Park

A fantastic start from Newcastle and the fans are loving it, with deafening noise and a truly wonderful atmosphere at St James Park.

Twice they've thought they've scored, but Alexander Isak's skilful chip bounced off the left post and Harvey Barnes curled one just wide from 25 yards after Anthony Gordon led a charge forwards.

Eddie Howe may not have been backed as he might have liked in the transfer window, but he couldn't ask for more support from the home fans who have not stopped chanting his name.

Spurs very briefly thought they had silenced the supporters, with Ange Postecoglou just on the verge of celebrating before an assistant's flag was raised and Cristian Romero was denied a goal after heading in.

  8. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 0-0 Tottenham

Pedro Porro whips it into the box after a short corner routine from Spurs and Cristian Romero flicks his header past Nick Pope.

He's miles offside though and it's immediately ruled out. Romero didn't bother celebrating - he knew.

  9. Postpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

This is already developing into a tetchy affair.

Pedro Neto has already been booked and now Palace's Daichi Kamada has had a lecture from the referee for a couple of niggly fouls.

  10. 'Keep an eye on Barnes'published at 13:41 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 0-0 Tottenham

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Harvey Barnes, although highly rated, I still think he's one of the most underrated players in the Premier League. Keep an eye on him, he's a special player if he gets playing every week.

  11. 'Silly from Neto'published at 13:40 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Curtis Davies
Former Premier League defender on BBC Radio 5 Live Online

Silly from Neto, he trips him and pulls his shirt.

The rules say if you stop an immediate attack by pulling the shirt it's a booking. He is now on a tightrope for the rest of the game.

Newcastle seem to be struggling today. They’re normally 3-0 up against Spurs at this point at home.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    That's an early card!

Referee Jarred Gillett isn't messing about and shows Pedro Neto a yellow for bringing down Daniel Munoz.

That's been timed at 7:12 minutes.

  14. CLOSE!published at 13:39 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 0-0 Tottenham

Anthony Gordon takes the ball down brilliantly in midfield, cutting inside Cristian Romero and finding Harvey Barnes.

He finds space to bend it and it's not far off at all, whistling just wide.

Some really nice stuff from Newcastle after a quiet start.

  15. Postpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 0-0 Tottenham

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I would say 98% of players wouldn't have meant that but Isak went for the goal there. He's so unlucky. This is more like a cup tie at the start of the game.

  16. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 0-0 Tottenham

Son Heung-min gives it away on the far side as Spurs failed to properly clear the corner.

Alexander Isak is the one who robs him and he cleverly chips it towards the back post, clipping the woodwork in the process.

Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was scrambling and beaten.

Brilliant effort from Isak. I think he meant it!

  17. Postpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

The playing surface at Stamford Bridge is like a bowling green. Chelsea are starting to settle into their stride. They're spraying it around with confidence and there are some early touches for Noni Madueke, whose spirits are high after his hat-trick at Wolves last week.

  18. Postpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 0-0 Tottenham

Bruno Guimaraes slides it down the line for Harvey Barnes to chase. He would have got away had Radu Dragusin not timed his challenge perfectly. He's conceded a corner though.

  19. 'Early intent from Palace'published at 13:33 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Curtis Davies
Former Premier League defender on BBC Radio 5 Live Online

Little bit of early intent from Palace.

Mateta letting his feet go early having a shot. Palace aren't going to let Chelsea have it all their own way.

  20. ouch!

Postpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

    That's going to hurt!

Pedro Neto, one his first Premier League start for Chelsea, is chopped down by Daichi Kamada who can count himself fortunate not to be shown a yellow card.

Neto eventually climbs back to his feet.
