That's now 59 times in the Premier League where this fixture has produced at least one goal. There hasn't been a goalless draw between these two since the 70s and that won't be changing today.

Spurs hoping the goalscoring isn't done yet though.

Another training ground routine. The free-kick is played short to Dejan Kulusevski, who tries to turn and shoot but Newcastle react well.

A good half for Chelsea as half-time looms. Bright and breezy, lightning quick on the counter. Palace are by no means out of this. They are comfortable in possession but they are not posing as much threat going forward.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 1 September

    Newcastle 1-0 Tottenham

Tottenham try to respond immediately as James Maddison crosses in from the left but it's easily cleared by Dan Burn.

Destiny Udogie then drives in-field from the left and earns a free-kick off Sean Longstaff, who is booked in the process.

  6. Spurs failure to convert chances costs thempublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 1 September

Since the delay for a change of official, Tottenham had been well on top with Wilson Odobert, Pape Sarr and Pedro Porro all having chances, with Nick Pope in the home goal doing well to deny Sarr's 25-yard curler.

Spurs also produced a fine routine with a corner that saw James Maddison roll it short to Son Heung-min, he pulled it back for Porro, but the shot was blocked.

And then, Spurs' failures to convert the chances proves costly, with Harvey Barnes, with so much space in the middle of the penalty area, sidefooting the hosts ahead. Great noise.

Newcastle are looking really dangerous. I said earlier what I think of Harvey Barnes. That finish is astonishing. He has just nailed it into the far corner. I knew it wouldn't be 0-0.

It's bounced and skidded off the surface but it's high. The technique Barnes used is world class.

Say what you like about Chelsea, but Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke are a real handful going forward. Palace are struggling to contain them at times.

    Wow.

Llyod Kelly pulls it back into the middle and Harvey Barnes, on the volley, opens his body and places it into the far corner beautifully.

It's a technically excellent finish and Barnes enjoys his celebrations.

Tottenham had been on top so it's a timely goal from Newcastle.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 1 September

    Chelsea 1-0 Crystal Palace

Still a good 10 minutes to go before half-time. A third yellow card is produced from the pocket of Jarred Gillett this time for Wesley Fofana for bringing down Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Pape Sarr catches Lloyd Kelly late after a clash in midfield. There's a quick VAR check but nothing comes of it.

Noni Madueke got five Premier League goals in 2023-24. He's already got four this season. He could have had more in this match alone.

    Madueke looks sharp and dangerous.

Isak is phenomenal when he gets the ball at his feet. He has this amazing ability to take little bumps off opposing players but still manages to get something out of it.

Really nice corner routine from Tottenham at the other end. It's played short to Son Heung-min, he quickly pings it over to Pedro Porro on the edge of the box but his shot is blocked by his own team-mate Radu Dragusin.

Joelinton wins the ball in midfield and picks out Alexander Isak. He twists and turns on the left, earning a corner.

It comes out to Sean Longstaff but his touch is a poor one.

    Great breakaway from Chelsea.

Guehi loses the ball and Chelsea play it straight to Noni Madueke.

Madueke knocks it to Palmer and Jackson then gets a tap in at the back post.
