No-one really knew what was going on during that break, with the players coming to the touchline asking the managers and the officials.

Former Premier League defender on BBC Radio 5 Live Online

I don't understand what has happened there.

Marc Guehi totally leaves it. Noni Madueke comes onto it and he tried to put it in the bottom corner - I am more surprised with Guehi.

Madueke doesn't give up on it, but fortunately for Palace he knocks it past the post.

It's really, really strange. I think there may be a bit of an injury to the official and that is the case because he's been replaced.

There's a delay here. I think the referee is injured and might have to come off. He's gone over and had a word with Eddie Howe and Ange Postecoglou. Fourth official Darren Bond is getting ready to step in.

The loud travelling away support from South London have set their target out Marc Cucurella.

It's unclear whether it is his connections with Brighton, although many Chelsea players have those, or his role with the Spain national team in the summer, or simply his hairstyle.

But he is being booed and jeered - as they mock his distinctive curly hair with their chants.

It all seems in reasonably good spirit and buoyed a cagey start from both teams.
