City have really closed Brighton down very, very well and forced numerous errors.

Forest fans rightly getting angry at the lack of attacking impetus in injury time then. At least three opportunities to get the ball in the box and they stood still or turned round. West Ham are there for the taking. It'll be a poor result if Forest don't capitalise at some point.

  5. 'Guardiola wants Trafford to play out'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-1 Man City

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at The Amex

A couple of times Guardiola has been a frustrated figure, mostly when the ball has gone back to Trafford. The City keeper has gone long a few times instead of playing out and when they do play out they don't do so wide enough.

    Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport football news reporter at the City Ground

An instantly forgettable first half at the City Ground, although that suits West Ham rather than Forest so far.

    A word about James Trafford.

After all the flak he received last week, the Manchester City goalkeeper has been much better.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

Just signs the home fans are getting frustrated as the first half comes to an end.

They have huffed and puffed and little else.

The elephant in the room is that City surely are past their best since they won the treble (including the CL). Their unbeatable squad of 2023 is now more than beatable with most players getting on or having been sold and this current lot are top 4 standard, excluding Haaland.

A minimum of three additional minutes. Brighton need to up their game in the second half.

  12. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

Morgan Gibbs-White is not quite on it today. The Nottingham Forest captain gives another one away carelessly on the edge of the West Ham penalty area.

  13. 'So, so close'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-1 Man City

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at The Amex

Wow that was so, so close. Verbruggen wants to get the ball on his right foot so he takes an extra touch and Haaland just puts his foot on the gas again and he is inches away from making a block. As that happened in the six yard box that most definitely would have ended up in the back of the net.

  14. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 31 August

Is now a good time to remind the rest of the Premier League that Erling Haaland signed a new long-term deal until 2034 in January?

He continues to cause Brighton serious problems.

Bart Verbruggen is forced into a mistake while under pressure from Haaland before Rodri blazes wildly over the bar.

You know it's a matter of time before Forest score. We concede so much space to them. We have no outlet. Gibbs White runs the show and we stand by. God, West Ham are a hard watch.

Brighton have gone off the boil.

Just the one attempt on target so far from the boot of Kaoru Mitoma.

But not too much else to get the home fans excited.

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

    Dave Edwards
Former Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at the City Ground

The best moment of the match. Lucas Pacqueta is the man you want on the ball and it was a smart save from Matz Sels.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 14:41 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

Mateus Fernandes gets down the left and pulls the ball back to Lucas Paqueta, who tests home goalkeeper Matz Sels with a rising effort.

Good reactions from the Belgium international to tip that over.

If Alexander Isak is worth £130m-150m, how much is Erling Haaland worth?

    Got to be more, surely?

  20. 'West Ham have not offered much'published at 14:39 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

    Dave Edwards
Former Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at the City Ground

It is excellent football from Forest until they get to the final action in the box.

Forest have been the better team and West Ham have not offered much going forward.
