    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

The Nottingham Forest fans think they should have a penalty as Kyle Walker-Peters goes to ground in the box on Callum Hudson-Odoi but the replays show the Hammers right-back takes the ball. Just.

Brilliant play from Brighton. They won the ball back in their own half and countered City very quickly. It comes through to Mitoma, he cuts back past the defender and shoots low towards the bottom corner. Trafford is a little out of position but he gets down well and makes a good save.

  3. CLOSE!published at 14:20 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

First shot in anger - and it's got Brighton's fans out of their seats.

Yankuba Minteh does ever so well to win possession before Kaoru Mitoma goes for goal but James Trafford makes a decent save.

Trafford, by the way, has made a confident start after his suspect performance last week.

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

Nottingham Forest Morgan Gibbs-White has given the ball away cheaply on a couple of occasions now.

    Hope Thomas Tuchel isn't watching.

Meanwhile, West Ham defend a back-post corner well.

  5. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

What have we learned from the first 15 minutes at the Amex?

Erling Haaland and Jan Paul van Hecke are not mates, that's for sure.

They are having a right ding-dong.

  6. 'An intriguing battle'published at 14:16 British Summer Time 31 August

What is pretty evident from the opening stages of this game is that both sides are looking to press very high and put pressure on their opponent and that is forcing errors in possession. Both teams have been sloppy in the build up because of the pressure, so it's an intriguing battle.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

Another late challenge - and this time the referee reaches for his top pocket.

Having already knocked Erling Haaland off his feet, Jan Paul van Hecke slides into Tijjani Reijnders.

That's a booking all day long.

  8. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

Another West Ham corner from the left. Another Niclas Fullkrug header over the bar, although to be honest he did well to get anything on that at all.

I still can’t get my head around why you’d bench your multiple-Premier-League-winning goalkeeper, still regarded as one of the best in the world and still (as a goalkeeper) very much in his prime…

    Alex, Bromley

I'm confused. Is Pep trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist? Ederson has IMHO been the best keeper in the PL in recent years. Why is Pep looking to replace him? Is it his age? Is he looking for a move (if so, he's leaving it late)?

  10. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

There's plenty of needle in this match and it's only 10 minutes or so old.

Brighton's players are not impressed as Jack Hinshelwood is penalised for bringing down Omar Marmoush.

The home side think that's a soft free-kick that has been awarded.

Ten minutes in and West Ham haven’t conceded. There’s hope for us yet!

  12. Postpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

West Ham defender Max Kilman, who apparently is worth around the same as Chelsea's new signing Alejandro Garnacho, clips a cross-field ball out of play to huge jeers from the home supporters.

  13. 'Never properly in Haaland's stride'published at 14:10 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at The Amex

It is a really big chance. Haaland showed a turn of pace but the ball never really quite got out of his feet and he never got it properly in his stride. As he shoots he just mishits it.

  14. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

    What was that?

Eerling Haaland is clean through and looks set to mark his 100th Premier League appearance with a goal but shoots tamely straight at Bart Verbruggen.

That's so poor by the normally prolific striker.

Then there's a shoving match between Haaland and Jan Paul van Hecke which ends in a lecture to both players by the referee.

  15. 'Big chance'published at 14:10 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

    Dave Edwards
Former Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at the City Ground

This was a big chance! Nottingham Forest have been direct early on and they're looking to get in-behind the high line of West Ham.

Nottingham Forest have a wonderful intensity, even without the ball. They are trying to force West Ham into making mistakes.

  16. Postpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

Dan Ndoye gets in behind the West Ham defence but his cut back is behind Chris Wood, who can't apply the brakes quick enough to turn that in for the hosts.

  17. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

Play is stopped for a couple of minutes to allow Diego Gomez treatment.

He's going to be ok to carry on but Fabian Hurzeler is still in the ear of the fourth official.

Referee Darren England has a word with Tijjani Reijnders but the Manchester City player escapes a card.

  18. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 31 August

    Nottm Forest 0-0 West Ham

A good early battle is emerging between two new signings. West Ham left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf and Nottingham Forest right winger Dan Ndoye.

It will be intriguing to see how it plays out.

  19. 'Looks awful'published at 14:06 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at The Amex

Reijnders has played the ball and the follow through has gone quite high on the ankle of Gomez. I don't think there is any intent there but it does look very awful.

  20. Postpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 31 August

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

    That's a nasty one!

Diego Gomez is down and in a lot of pain after a follow-through by Tijjani Reijnders.

Brighton boss is not happy at all.
