    Rangers 1-0 St Johnstone

    Richard Foster
Former Rangers defender on BBC Radio Scotland

Adama Sidibeh in those little channels against Ben Davies is definitely an out ball for St Johnstone because he doesn't look comfortable.

  12. Postpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 17 August

    Rangers 1-0 St Johnstone

Keeper Jack Butland is way out of his Rangers goal to make a clearance and Lewis Neilson tries to score an audacious effort into the empty goal but it is too high. St Johnstone felt Adama Sidibeh had been fouled by John Souttar in the build-up to that attempt.

  18. VAR intervention baffling inside the stadiumpublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 17 August

    Rangers 1-0 St Johnstone

    Martin Dowden
BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden Park

It looked from this vantage within Hampden Park that referee Matthew MacDermid had blown for a foul on Jack Sanders before Cyriel Dessers ran on to net. Arm raised and players seemed to react to that.

The assumption then is VAR should not be involved as the decision was given early and impacted players carrying on.

What controversy. The St Johnstone squad are furious with that.

    Rangers 1-0 St Johnstone

    Neil McCann
Former Rangers winger on BBC Radio Scotland

If a decision is given by the ref, the players will stop - they play to the whistle.

The argument is the referee blew the whistle and gave the free-kick, I don't think it should stand.
