    Altrincham have signed defender Sam Barnes on a free transfer.

    The 24-year-old was out of contract after leaving League Two Barrow, where he made four substitute appearances last season.

    Midfielder Harry Whitwell has joined Forest Green Rovers on a season-long loan from West Bromwich Albion.

    The 19-year-old came through the Baggies' academy and made his senior debut in the FA Cup against Aldershot Town in January 2024.

    "Harry is an excellent addition who comes with excellent pedigree given his rise through the age groups at West Brom," manager Robbie Savage told the club website, external.

    "He adds enthusiasm, quality, and energy to our midfield that we've assembled here at Forest Green and we're very pleased to get the deal over the line."

    Brackley Town have signed midfielder Bailey Hobson on loan from League Two side Chesterfield.

    Hobson, 21, came through the Sheffield United academy before joining Alfreton Town in 2021.

    After making 85 appearances for the National League North side, he joined Chesterfield in 2023 and has spent time on loan at Kidderminster and Barnet.

    "Bailey is someone who we identified very early and has all the attributes of a player we've been looking for," said Brackley manager Gavin Cowan.

    "He has good experience of the league, most recently with Barnet last season, as well as having serious hunger and ambition to achieve. We're really pleased to add him to the squad."

    Forest Green Rovers have signed Jili Buyabu from Sheffield United on a season-long loan.

    The 22-year-old left-sided player moved to the Blades in 2021 after beginning his career with Hornchurch.

    He spent last season on loan at Rochdale, where he made 24 National League appearances.

    Wealdstone have signed midfielder Alfie Massey on loan from Championship club Millwall until early January.

    The 19-year-old has made two appearances for the Lions in cup competitions and started his career in the youth setups at West Ham and Arsenal.

    He made his Millwall debut last August and signed a "long-term" deal shortly after.

    Experienced striker Macauley Bonne has left Southend United following the expiry of his contract.

    The 29-year-old former Leyton Orient, Charlton, QPR and Gillingham player scored five goals for the Shrimpers last season to help them reach the National League play-off final.

  7. Wealdstone sign forward Day and defender Diarrapublished at 12:31 11 August

    Wealdstone have signed forward Marcus Day and defender Moussa Diarra following trial periods with the club.

    Day, 24, came through the youth ranks at Bristol City before moving to Bristol Manor Farm in 2020.

    Day has also represented Barry Town, AFC Totton and Taunton Town, and last played for Southern League Premier Division South side Tiverton Town.

    Diarra, 35, spent three different stints at Woking and has also played for Barrow and Barnet.
