  2. First blood to USApublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    4&3 Thompson/Coughlin v Stark/Hall (F)

The first match and first point of the day goes to the USA as Lexi Thompson and Lauren Coughlin beat Maja Stark and Georgia Hall 4&3.

The European pair never really got going today and it was in truth quite a comfortable victory of the USA duo.

  3. Europe secure at least half point in bottom matchpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Vu/Schmelzel v Boutier/Nordqvist 4UP (14)

Here comes Sarah Schmelzel with her eagle opportunity but that putter has not been working well today.

She's missed it and opened the door for Anna Nordqvist to halve the hole.

All business for the Swede and she slots in without blinking.

Four up with four to play.

  4. Korda knocks it closepublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Corpuz/Korda v Pedersen/Ciganda A/S (16)

Nelly Korda could well have given America at least half a point from this match as she watches Emily Pedersen find the green but only 30 feet away and sticks hers close, almost stone dead.

Should be USA going ahead here.

Three of the foursomes matches wrapped up on the 16th hole yesterday.

It's not looking that way today - we are delightfully poised.

So how we feeling this is going to go?

Thumbs up if you see Europe winning the session (2½ points or better) or thumbs down if they will draw or lose it.

  6. 'Planning was not sufficient'published at 15:58 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

We've had LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan in the media centre, fronting up for the shambolic travel arrangements that left thousands stranded in car parks when they should have been at the course.

She opened up with: "First of all, is it always this cold in here? Holy cow. I'm glad I brought my parka."

It is true, the air-con is set to fridge temperature.

She spoke at length about the issues in getting spectators to the course, the gist of it being: "There were miscalculations and the planning was not sufficient for the day.

"We also sent an apology to any of the customers who may have been affected. It's hard to tell exactly who was in what queue, but we sent out just an apology letter. We offered two general admission tickets to those who may have had their experience affected."

    Vu/Schmelzel v Boutier/Nordqvist 4UP (13)

A peach from Lilia Vu at the very watchable par-five 14th. She's darted her second shot over the water and onto the green, leaving Sarah Schmelzel will have an inviting eagle opportunity.

There remains energy with the US pair in this match, despite the four-hole deficit.

  8. The tide is turning…published at 15:56 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    US FansImage source, BBC Sport

The tide has turned slightly here and Susan, Molly and Lindsay from Minneapolis reckon the US charge is coming.

Susan, who is actually an LPGA instructor and professional herself, played Congressional on Friday and couldn’t believe seeing the almost entirely blue board a little earlier.

“It’s closer now…it’s turning our way,” says Susan, stood at the back of the 13th.

“No offence but we expected this and it feels like the match has swung over the last few holes. Nobody practices for this format. It’s so tough because when you play you are used to putting yourself in certain positions around the course.”

  9. Ewing sinks huge puttpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Ewing/Kupcho v Henseleit/Hull 1UP (15)

A huge roar reverberates around the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club after Ally Ewing sinks a monster putt at the 15th for a birdie to win the hole.

It's been a ding-dong battle in match two and Europeans Charley Hull and Esther Henseleit hold just a one-hole advantage. Could yet go either way this one.

  10. It's getting tensepublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Saturday foursomes: Corpuz/Korda v Ciganda/Pedersen A/S (16); Ewing/Kupcho v Henseleit/Hull 1UP (15); 3UP Coughlin/Thompson v Hall/Stark (14); Vu/Schmelzel v Boutier/Nordqvist 4UP (13)

  11. America escape with a halfpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Corpuz/Korda v Pedersen/Ciganda A/S (16)

I'm absolutely amazed Carlota Ciganda didn't back off her putt to win the hole when a huge roar went up on a nearby green - with the result being she blasted her effort through the break and past the hole.

Emily Pedersen makes the return before Nelly Korda slots in for the half - and another case of America getting out of jail.

And yet again, as we've said so many times before, this Solheim Cup is being decided on the putting greens where Europe are just not able to make the putts.

  12. Another misspublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    3UP Thompson/Coughlin v Stark/Hall (14)

Georgia Hall has the chance to win the 14th for Europe, but again she's missed the target and the lead stays at three with four holes to play.

  13. Postpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Corpuz/Korda v Pedersen/Ciganda A/S (15)

Great shot from Emily Pedersen on the par-three 16th, taking the brave route and dropping it just over the bunker and up to about seven feet of the flag.

Nelly Korda's response can only settle to about 25 feet away so advantage Europe heading to the green.

    Great contest this one.

  14. Hole shared in bottom matchpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Vu/Schmelzel v Boutier/Nordqvist 4UP (13)

Both pairings are out of position off the tee and, even though Lilia Vu gives Sarah Schmelzel a chance at par, she drags her putt.

Anna Nordqvist kicks it out of the greenside bunker and Celine Boutier has a chance to guarantee half a point for Europe if she drains it.

But she misses. Still four up with five to go.

  15. Hull & Henseleit restore cushionpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Ewing/Kupcho v Henseleit/Hull 2UP (14)

Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho unable to capitalise on the previous hole as they make an absolute dog's dinner of the par five 14th.

The American duo end up conceding an eagle putt to Charley Hull and Esther Henseleit, who give each other a litle fist bump.

A two-hole cushion restored for the European pair with four holes to play in match two of the foursomes.

  16. All square!published at 15:41 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Corpuz/Korda v Pedersen/Ciganda A/S (15)

Huge response from Europe in the top match as they make par on 15 and Nelly Korda can't make a 15 footer to halve the hole, so the American lead lasted just one hole.

Europe have bossed this from the start so it would have been a huge body blow to go behind - especially given the manner of it. So credit to this pair for hitting back right away.

  17. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

And they seem to have been doing that a fair bit for the USA in the past 20 minutes.

  18. Outrageous!published at 15:33 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    3UP Thompson/Coughlin v Stark/Hall (13)

Lauren Coughlin & Georgia HallImage source, Getty Images

Sometimes there's not much you can do - when Lauren Coughlin is going to start making huge bombs like the monster putt she's just rolled in on 13 for a birdie.

That's just what Europe have been missing throughout the contest so far and here, with Europe in close and looking to win the hole, Georgia Hall has to make it just for the half - and she misses!

Of course if you hit enough good putts you'll make big ones like that, but sometimes the golfing gods are just smiling on you.

  19. Bunkers cost Hull & Henseleitpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 14 September 2024

    Ewing/Kupcho v Henseleit/Hull 1UP (13)

Back-to-back bunkers for Charley Hull and Esther Henseleit prove costly at the 13th as the Englishwoman follows it with missed putt for par.

The American duo have two putts to claim the hole and Ally Ewing grabs it at the first time of asking.

Jennifer Kupcho and Ewing have trimmed the European's lead and are now just one hole from parity.

    Vu/Schmelzel v Boutier/Nordqvist 4UP (12)

Anna Nordqvist and Celine BoutierImage source, Getty Images

With the cheers from the 14th green echoing in the distance, Celine Boutier lines up an eagle putt at the 12th.

It's excellent pace and looks on line but just fails to turn at the end. Europe stay four up though with five to play. A point is an absolute necessity here.
