Well that's certainly been an action packed six-and-a-half hours.

Sheffield United are the only remaining unbeaten side in the EFL and moved level on points at the top of the second tier with a routine win against Luton - a Premier League fixture less than a year ago but one which looks increasingly unlikely to be one next season, if Luton can't turn things around.

Watford and Norwich continued their good form while Plymouth made it three straight home wins, despite having boss Wayne Rooney red-carded late on.

We're going to miss the Championship - it is not back after the international break until Friday, 18 October when the Blades head to Elland Road. What a prospect that it to look forward to, by the way.

We'll savour every moment of Bristol City v Cardiff tomorrow afternoon in the final action before the break begins.

Thanks for your company today, enjoy your evenings and hopefully see you tomorrow back here!

    Goodnight!

Think that's the end of the Championship fun before the international break? Think again.

We'll be back tomorrow afternoon when basement-boys Cardiff City head across the Severn Bridge to visit Bristol City at 15:00 BST.

Their rivals from the Gower emerged with a point from the same fixture last weekend, can the Bluebirds go one better to haul themselves off the foot of the table?

We'll be right here to bring you all the build-up, action and reaction from 14:30 BST.

  3. 'We fully deserved the win'published at 18:25 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Plymouth 2-1 Blackburn

    Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth Argyle assistant manager Pete Shuttleworth has been doing the post-match duties with BBC Radio Devon after Wayne Rooney was sent off in the 2-1 win over Blackburn.

Shuttleworth said: "I thought we [were] excellent from start to finish. To win a game like that is really exciting and lets the fans go home really pleased about that.

"We fully deserved to win that game. The only slight disappointment is we didn't kill the game off.

"When you don't do that, you always allow a team to stay in the game.

"We had enough chances to be comfortable going into injury time. The pleasing bit after that was our mentality to go and win the game after that."

  4. 'You're never going to take the passion out of Wayne'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 5 October

Plymouth assistant boss Pete Shuttleworth on Wayne Rooney's sending-off:

"He's still passionate - we all watched him play for many years and we all know that passion is what drives him and he's been brilliant down here.

"I've seen him like that - he has still got that passion on the touchline. He likes to be calm and calculated at times and see the game, and that's his management style.

"But you're never going to take that [passion] out of Wayne.

"We were disappointed a foul wasn't given on Ryan Hardie - and Wayne reacted to that with passion. I don't know what the exact sending-off was for or what they will accredit it to but he just reacted in that way."

Right, some reaction coming up to perhaps the biggest Championship story of the day - Plymouth boss Wayne Rooney's red card, and his side's subsequent stoppage-time winner against Blackburn...

  6. 'To concede in that manner is disappointing'published at 18:17 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Plymouth 2-1 Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers manager John Eustace speaking BBC Radio Lancashire after Plymouth scored a late winner at Home Park: "I thought for the first hour, we stayed in the game.

"The plan was to open it up in the last half-hour with the real positive changes.

"The lads stuck to the task. When we brought the subs on, I thought there was only one team that was going to go on and win the game.

"We scored a good equaliser and then we had some real good moments after that.

"To concede in the manner we did, right at the end, is really, really disappointing. It is something we have got to work on."

  7. 'We look like scoring in every match'published at 18:14 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Watford 2-1 Middlesbrough

Watford head coach Tom CleverleyImage source, PA Media

Tom Cleverley is still unbeaten in five games at Vicarage Road as Watford head coach thanks to a late comeback to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 this afternoon.

Cleverley told BBC Three Counties Radio: "It's a part of our game that we look like scoring in every single match.

"Our chance creation, the quality of chance we're creating and our goal scoring record is really up there this season.

"The goal scoring is good, the home form is good, now we just need to sort out the away form and conceding a too few many chances.

"Kwadwo Baah has been a fantastic impact for us in the main this season and Edo Kayembe's got four league goals from midfield.

"I'm really pleased by the impact they had and at the start of these weeks when you play three games in seven you utilise all the squad."

  8. 'We let the game slip away'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Watford 2-1 Middlesbrough

    Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick said they've only got themselves to blame after throwing away a lead to lose at Watford.

Carrick told BBC Radio Teesside: "That's football and it's such a tough place. We've got to look at ourselves. We've let the game slip away right at the end.

"For three quarters of the game we were really good. We've got to accept that and we've got to be better for it.

"Regardless of the chances, we had the game where we wanted it.

"We were up 1-0 in a really commanding position and we let it go."

  9. 'A profitable week'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Sheff Utd 2-0 Luton

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We need to be front foot, control the game, which we did, so I'd like to thank the supporters for their contribution because it was really big, energy-wise.

"There were a few people scratching their heads before the game and looking at the team selection but it's my job and the job of the coaches to make sure we get that right from a physical and tactical point of view.

"The biggest thing is that the team, and the football club, gets results and seven out of nine (points) is a profitable week for us.

"There's no big-time players here, no arrogant ones, no stars of the show - the team is the star, the team is the main focus."

  10. Clarets looked a bit lethargic - Parkerpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Preston

    Burnley

    Burnley head coach Scott Parker:

"It was a busy week. We decided to keep the same team. The game looked a little bit lethargic for us, for sure.

“I thought the players gave absolutely everything. We faced up to the battle.

“I think everyone could see that in terms of how Preston approached the game and disrupted it, certainly in the second half, and just took the wind out of the game in certain moments.

“I think the second half, in terms of the stoppages, and how they managed the clock a little bit was obviously evident and key, and certainly when momentum was building for us, there was a pause in the game, but it is what it is."

  11. 'Bad decision' cost PNE - Heckingbottompublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Preston

Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom bemoaned his side's disallowed goal in the 0-0 derby draw at Burnley:

“When I saw it live, I thought it was offside, but then to be told it’s onside, it’s disappointing for me, disappointing for them and the fans.

"It’ll not be reflected in the data, because it’s a bad decision. If that had gone in and we’d got three points, I don’t think anyone could have begrudged us that.

“In the first half, we were really good with the ball, really good without the ball. Second half became a bit more of a war of attrition, and we didn’t get in behind them as much as we would have liked.

"Burnley didn’t get in our box as often as they would have liked. It had much more of a derby feel to it, and became a more difficult game to manage for the ref.

“We’ve come to play a good team and really taken the game to them, which is how we want to play every game. I was really pleased with the performance. I just wish we’d have got three points.”

  12. 'It's on me'published at 17:57 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Sheff Utd 2-0 Luton

Luton boss Rob Edwards apologises to the fans after a 2-0 loss to Sheffield UnitedImage source, Rex Features

Luton Town boss Rob Edwards speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio after the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United: "We changed things to give us a bit more solidity but the way we conceded the two goals which ultimately cost us the game was really disappointing.

"The first one, it pops up on the edge of the box, we don't challenge, it landed, we don't challenge, (it's) indecisiveness, and before you know it, it's in the back of the net.

"The second one was different but again we were in decent shape, we had numbers there to deal with it but once it gets to Rak-Sakyi, it's a dangerous moment with a one v one in the box.

"It's on me, I've got to fix it. I'll try to give clarity, we'll work hard on and off the pitch to make sure we fix certain areas that we're not doing well at the moment."

Two for 22, Sheffield United forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi marked his birthday in style

Sheffield United two-goal hero - and birthday boy - Jesurun Rak-Sakyi told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"To celebrate my birthday with two goals to help the team is fantastic, I couldn't imagine anything like this.

"It's been hard to get into the flow but I have good team-mates around me and good coaches that push me every day in training and have belief in me.

"I had a lot of injuries last season that set me back and I'm just grateful to everyone around me that pushes me every day to do better.

"You always want to get the hat-trick but for the good of the team, I respect the gaffer's decision (to take me off)."

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has seen his side fail to score in successive home matches this week

West Brom miss out on drawing level with leaders Sunderland.

Poor second-half, lit up only by the sight of visiting captain Jake Cooper's shirt ripped clean down the middle, following grappling at a corner. Depending on your age, think Hulk Hogan.

Games at the Hawthorns continue to be a hard watch. Almost eight hours of football, just the three goals.

Still no win on the road for Millwall this season, but a valuable point at a promotion contender.

  15. 'Applause for Rooney proved players' respect'published at 17:44 British Summer Time 5 October

I think Wayne Rooney was underestimated in the beginning - I think he's doing an excellent job.

At the end, the Plymouth players were gelled together and when Wayne Rooney came out (after his red card), they were actually applauding him.

That's how much they respect the man and he deserves success.

Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup was unsurprisingly delighted with his side's excellent 4-0 win at home to Hull City earlier today.

Thorup told BBC Radio Norfolk: "The start of the game against Watford was brilliant and it was the same again today.

"We created two big chances before scoring the first goal and then kept on going - I loved the second goal, that was just beautiful.

"Our top moments have shown, especially at home, that we have the quality to outplay some teams, but there is room for improvement.

"We just have to make sure in the future that we can play even more minutes with that intensity and that energy.

"You can see moments when we defended a little bit too low and had difficulty playing (the ball) out a couple of times."

Hull City head coach Tim Walter said his team need to "keep our heads up" despite their 4-0 defeat at Carrow Road.

Walter said: "They were a lot more clinical than us and took advantage of our mistakes while we didn’t take advantage of theirs.

“We lost the ball too often and didn’t win enough of the duels and were punished for it. The lads kept going and showed a good attitude but it is a defeat that we must accept.

“We must keep our heads up and remember that we had won our three previous games and were really good in them.

"Today we lost 4-0 and that is how it is in football sometimes."

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho speaks to his players during the Oxford gameImage source, Rex Features

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho said he is "really disappointed with the result" after Pompey gave away a lead to draw 1-1 at home to Oxford.

Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent: “We came here with a game plan and I thought it worked for large parts.

"We looked likely to get a second goal but we just weren’t good enough to do that. We need to be better to win games.

“You do scratch your head as we had so many chances but couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net again.

"If you concede chances like we do towards that end of the pitch then you’ll come away not winning games.”

We've got some reaction from today's earlier games to bring you and Oxford United boss Des Buckingham says he is "happy" with the point his side picked up at Fratton Park following their 1-1 draw with Portsmouth.

Buckingham told BBC Radio Oxford: “Of the nine games we played, we knew this week was going be a tough run in, so to pick up points is so good.

“We knew coming here the reaction they (Portsmouth) would try to give after Wednesday’s game, there was a wonderful atmosphere here and to get points on the road is always good.

“I was really happy with our ability to match a really good Portsmouth side today, physically and more. The players that came on too and made a good impact.”
