Imagine how Illan Meslier slept last night? How many times do you think he's replayed that goal over in his mind?

Meslier's 'mare cost Leeds United two points and a share of the lead in the Championship as it allowed Sunderland to move two points clear at the top.

As Daniel Farke said afterwards, the game was virtually up, time was up. If Meslier fields that ball, Leeds win the match.

It will be a mistake that the Frenchman will find hard to live down, and he now has a fortnight to stew over it.

It's the most infamous goal at the Stadium of Light since that one in October 2009 when a Darren Bent shot was deflected past Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina by a beach ball that was lying on the pitch.

We can't forget that goal, but nine months later, Reina was leading the celebrations as part of the Spain squad that won the World Cup.

If Leeds win promotion in May, Meslier will be able to laugh it off as one of those goalkeeping bloopers. But if they miss out on an automatic spot by two points or less...

Put your thumb up if you still haven't lost in the league this season

Birmingham City's 1-0 loss at Charlton means that there is only one team in the EFL yet to taste defeat in the league this season.

Chris Wilder's Sheffield United haven't so much as conceded a goal since 24 August.

Next up after the international break? The small matter of a Yorkshire derby at fellow promotion hopefuls Leeds a week on Friday.

That should be a quiet night in the library. Not!

  3. Hatters in the bottom four as Owls fly up the tablepublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 5 October

    Championship bottom 10

Would you take a look at Luton!

A pretty gloomy day for Rob Edwards and the Hatters as they were brushed aside by Sheffield United and fall below Preston, who were well worth their point at Burnley in the lunchtime derby. Coventry are also in the mire after being stunned late-on by Sheffield Wednesday who are up to 15th.

Rock-bottom Cardiff visit Bristol City tomorrow, while Portsmouth remain winless despite another draw with Oxford. QPR join them in the bottom three after defeat at Derby.

  4. Blades looking sharp as they cut Black Cats leadpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 5 October

    Championship top 10

Going into this weekend's round of fixtures any of six teams could conceivably have taken over at the top come Sunday teatime.

It looks to be a very good weekend indeed for Sheffield United as Chris Wilder's side made it back-to-back wins to go level on points with leaders Sunderland. Of course without their two-point deduction for financial breaches they would be top in their own right.

The Black Cats and Leeds shared a dramatic draw on Friday night while Burnley couldn't find a winner against Preston which would have taken them top and West Brom also had to settle for a stalemate against Millwall when a big win could have taken them top.

It's even worse for Blackburn who drop all the way down to eighth after back-to-back defeats, losing at Plymouth in dramatic circumstances this afternoon.

    Watford and Norwich leapfrog them.

  5. Rooney back out after final whistlepublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 5 October

    FT: Plymouth 2-1 Blackburn

Wayne Rooney was adamant there was a foul in the lead-up to the Blackburn equaliser from Joe Rankin-Costello on 86 minutes and before the restart, referee James Linington was summoned to the technical area by fourth official Jacob Miles before Rooney was shown a red card, presumably for comments he made.

Rooney did emerge after the final whistle and headed to the pitch with his players to celebrate a third successive home win and take the acclaim of the Home Park crowd.

The players seemed to see the funny side over his dismissal - "How much of a fine you paying then, gaffer?"

That performance has deserved that number of points. We've given absolutely everything today.

We would have been well happy with a point and we've got all three.

  7. Luton look lostpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 5 October

Make Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s a double – the birthday boy the toast of Bramall Lane.

Turning 22 today, it took him 12 minutes to get the party started, driving into the box and an emphatic finish.

The Crystal Palace loanee could have had more and got a second, seven minutes after the break with a powerful low effort, just getting through the legs of keeper Thomas Kaminiski.

It’s a role reversal from last season in the top flight and now it’s the Blades playing with confidence, energy and ideas, with Luton looking lost.

Luton remain fourth bottom, with United up to second.

  10. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 5 October

    Swansea 0-0 Stoke

We said it would be 0-0 or 3-3.

Sadly it was the former. The first time these two sides have played out a stalemate since March 1962, a run of 40 matches.

    Sorry, guys!

  11. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 5 October

    Plymouth 2-1 Blackburn

Plymouth left it even later than they did against Sunderland to beat Blackburn.

Michael Obafemi's early strike put the Pilgrims on the right path but the hosts missed a series of chances, with Aynsley Pears making a string of saves too, which kept Rovers in the game.

Joe Rankin-Costello was able to loop in a header from Dominic Hyam's cross late-on and it looked like it would be enough to nick a point, until Morgan Whittaker won it for the hosts on 97 minutes with a neat header.

Wayne Rooney was sent-off after the equaliser so couldn't even join the celebrations, though the fans still sing his name.

    More great Championship drama...

    Coventry 1-2 Sheff Wed

Sheffield Wednesday have their first win at Coventry City in 29 years.

  14. goal

GOAL Plymouth 2-1 Blackburnpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 5 October

    Morgan Whittaker (90+7 mins)

PLYMOUTH HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!!! 97 minutes.

Morgan Whittaker breaks his goalscoring duck at Home Park after a dozen games with a heat header into the corner from Adam Randell's header into the box and sends the ground wild.

That is even later than they left it to beat Sunderland 3-2 in their last but one home match.

Wayne Rooney was sent-off so might not even have seen it.

Could this be five wins in seven home games for the Greens?

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 5 October

    West Brom 0-0 Millwall

A third consecutive 0-0 draw in this fixture.

It never really looked like being anything but and West Brom have now failed to beat Millwall in their last seven attempts.

Neil Harris will see this as a valuable point but it's three games without a win for the Baggies.

The Hawthorns also continues its reputation of being the stingiest stadium in the Championship with just three goals in five games this season.

  16. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 5 October

    Watford 2-1 Middlesbrough

Watford take all three points after an excellent late comeback!

Middlesbrough took a deserved lead through George Edmundson's close-range finish 10 minutes into the second-half.

But the Hornets scored twice in 12 minutes through Edo Kayembe and Kwadwo Baah to complete a remarkable turnaround.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 5 October

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:52 British Summer Time 5 October
