England fans enjoyed a compelling Women's Rugby World Cup semi-final at Ashton Gate on Saturday

For the past two weekends, Ashton Gate has been packed to the rafters with many more people watching on TV as England followed up their Women's Rugby World Cup quarter-final win by beating France on Saturday to reach the final.

Elsewhere, vintage outfits and classy events have been the order of the day in Bath as the annual Jane Austen festival drew to a conclusion.

There was also a beach clean-up at Weston and a special animal appeal.

Off to Twickenham: It was nervy at times, but England are off to Twickenham to play Canada in the World Cup final after overcoming France 35-17 at Ashton Gate.

Mud, glorious mud: Some fans made a real effort with their outfits for the other World Cup semi-final between Canada and New Zealand at Ashton Gate on Friday night.

Well fancy that: Thousands of people have been taking part in events as part of the Jane Austen Festival in Bath this week, which included an impressive parade.

Left behind: The Bristol Animal Rescue Centre says there is an "ongoing need" for responsible pet ownership after taking in 164 stray dogs this year, 37 of which did not have microchips so their original owners cannot be traced. The dogs are often found in Lawrence Hill, The Downs, Hartcliffe and Withywood, some of them tied to trees with no food.

Cleaning up: The Green British Foundation organised a beach clean day at Weston-super-Mare this week, with volunteers getting busy with their litter pickers to remove much of the rubbish left over from the busy summer months.
