How to reach the Maes

Ffynhonnell y llun, Eisteddfod Genedlaethol

The festival field is located in the town of Abergavenny. As such, the best way of getting there if you are travelling by car is via shuttle bus from the car parks which will run regularly during the event - from early morning until late in the evening after the concerts. Designated disabled parking spaces are available in every car park.

How to get to the car parks

Reaching the car park

Traffic from mid and north west - follow the A479 / A40 to Cwrt y Gollen near Crickhowell and travel to Car Park 1

Traffic from the south west, south and south east - follow the M4 to Junction 24 (Coldra) and then the A449 to the Raglan Junction. A40 west bound to Abergavenny.

At the roundabout take the fourth exit off the roundabout B4589 (Clytha) Old Abergavenny Road to Penpergwm,Car Park 2. Cars exiting the car park to turn left and then the first exit at Hardwick Roundabout A40 (The Midlands) dual carriageway

Traffic from the Heads of the Valleys - follow the A465 to Hardwick Roundabout then the A4042 (Newport / Pontypool) to Llanellen Car Park 3.

Traffic travelling from the north east, follow the A465 to Hardwick Roundabout and then the A4042 (Newport / Pontypool) to Llanellen Car Park 3.

How to get to Maes B / Maes PeByll

From the west, leave the A465 at Llanfoist junction. Take the third exit at Waitrose roundabout for A4143. Take second exit at next roundabout for B4246. Take next left (Junction layout TBC)

From the east, leave the A465 at Llanfoist junction. Take the first exit for Llanfoist B4246. Take next left (Junction layout TBC)

Provison will be made to redirect traffic if any car park gets full or unusable.

Caravan, camping and glamping sites

These will be situated adjacent to Llanofer Hall off the A4042.

From mid and north west, follow the A479 / A40 to through Abergavenny to the Hardwick Roundabout. Take the fifth exit A4042 (Newport / Pontypool).

From the south west, south and south east, follow the M4 to Junction 24 (Coldra) and then the A449 to the Raglan Junction. A40 west bound to Abergavenny. At the Hardwick Roundabout take the first exit off the roundabout, the A4042 (Newport / Pontypool).

From the Heads of the Valleys, follow A465 to Hardwick Roundabout and take the sixth exit A4042 (Newport / Pontypool).

From the north east, follow the A465 to Hardwick Roundabout and take the third exit A4042 (Newport / Pontypool).

Cycling

There are lockable cycling bays outside the main entrance to the Maes.

Public Transport

Regular train service from Cardiff and North Wales. 15 minute walk to the Maes, shuttle bus on call.

Buses: Bus station, 5 minute walk to the Maes.
