Guernsey FC registered their first win since the opening day of the season as they beat 10-man Uxbridge 3-0 in a game delayed by 30 minutes because of a serious injury to a visiting player.

Skipper Jamie Dodd powerfully headed Guernsey in front after 18 minutes.

Uxbridge had Lewis Pegg sent off for a high foot on Guernsey goalkeeper Josh Addison after 36 minutes.

Matt Loaring and Owen Wallbridge made it 3-0 before Bernard Mensah suffered a serious knee injury after 74 minutes.

The Uxbridge striker, who had hit the post shortly before half-time, needed an ambulance and the game was suspended for 30 minutes shortly after his side had conceded their third goal.

Neither side could find a goal after the game resumed, with the victory ending a 14-game winless run in Isthmian League South Central for the island side.

Loaring's close-range strike after 57 minutes clamed any nerves before Wallbridge's deflected effort 16 minutes later earned the forward his second goal in three matches.

The win moved Guernsey onto 10 points as they try and get away from the relegation places.
