    BBC Radio 5 Live

Football pundit, Julien Laurens, who raised questions at Ruben Amorim's team selection on BBC Radio 5 Live, has tweeted: "Ruben Amorim’s team selection and tactics today were ridiculous today, as we explained on BBC Radio 5 Live earlier today on Premier League Sunday. The defeat is on him more than anything else!"

  2. 'Nice to come back and get the win'published at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time

FT: Man Utd 0-2 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "You put in that hard work every day to become a team that is hard to beat."

On the defence in front of him: "They are loads better from the start of the season. We had new players come in and the positions have evolved. They've been fantastic and they made my day easy."

On whether the win is even more special as a former Manchester United player: "Obviously it is nice to come back and get the win [at Old Trafford] but more importantly to get the three points and keep climbing up the table."

For Tottenham, so often criticised for being weak defensively, this was the sort of performance under-pressure boss Ange Postecoglou would have gained a great deal of satisfaction from, as he continues to battle a lengthy injury list that saw him without nine key players.

The three points took Spurs from 16th to 14th, with the supporters chanting “we are staying up”, mocking those critics that suggested the club were in danger of being relegated.

Postecoglou punched the air in delight when Pape Matar Sarr sealed the victory late on and this is a key week for the Australian, one that could define his time in charge.

On Thursday, Tottenham travel to league leaders Liverpool, holding a slim 1-0 advantage after the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, with Spurs looking to secure a Wembley final and stay on course for their first trophy in 17 years.

It has been a tough season for Spurs, but it could still have a very good end to it.

  5. 'Outstanding effort by the players' - Postecogloupublished at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Brentford 0-2 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to Sky Sports: "It's always a challenge here, especially at home they're hard to beat. Brilliant effort from the lads, backing up from Thursday night, [we] needed a big effort again today. We put that in, they had a lot of set pieces and we dealt with them awfully well. I think we defended as well as we have all season, and we still had the quality to hurt them the other way. Outstanding effort by the players.

"I don't think they had many clear-cut chances, there was a lot of balls in the box but when you're throwing them in from the touchline then you can't avoid that. They had a lot of corners but we got the first contact, we had challenges in there.

"I thought the lads handled that part of it really well. We still had to play, outstanding second goal from us. Great football and credit to the lads. It's not easy coming here particularly after a big game on Thursday night, I think they handled it really well."

  6. 'We deserve this win'published at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time

FT: Man Utd 0-2 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta: "I'm feeling fantastic! We won this three points, we worked hard and I am very happy.

On the plan to beat Manchester United: "We know how they play with the new manager, we worked on a plan during the week and we stuck to the plan. We listened to the gaffer and worked hard and I think we deserve this win."

"I just put my head down and worked hard and I think sometimes when you do that, you get the reward."

Ruben Amorim needs to have a chat with David Moyes. The Everton manager has shown that he knows how to get a performance out of a bang average team.

    Anon

United are beyond an embarrassment now. I really feel sorry for Ruben Amorim. He must look at the players in this dressing room and think, 'what on earth is this group that I have?' Gutless, Spineless and believing they are better than they are. I sat through in relegation in 1974, this is worse.

Brentford had 20 shots and 2.29 xG against Tottenham today – both of which are their highest totals in a Premier League game where they failed to score.

Ruben Amorim has an awful a lot to do.

He knew there was a massive job, nobody expected him to hit the ground running.

Top players should be able to work the system out, but they're not competitive enough. They're not physically demanding enough.

Palace out-ran them and out-thought them.

  10. Postpublished at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time

FT: Man Utd 0-2 Crystal Palace

Another damning statistic or two for the home side.

Manchester United have failed to score in nine of their 24 games, only Everton (12) and Southampton (10) have failed to score more often in the Premier League this season.

United have also failed to score in the first half of 18 different league matches this season, the most of any team in the competition.

  11. 'Tottenham showed they can be resilient and defend'published at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Brentford 0-2 Tottenham

    Stephen Kelly
Former Tottenham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It's a huge win for Tottenham.

I think Brentford will be bitterly disappointed with the amount of possession they had, final third entries and they didn't make it count.

But Tottenham have been resilient, shown they can defend, not been gung-ho and not leaving themselves open.

This is exactly what Ange Postecoglou needs and it eases a little bit of pressure on them.

I fancied Palace to win this game and that's the way it has turned out.

Man Utd could not get their heads around the new system.

Palace worked it out and grew into the game - they will be delighted with how they used Eze from the bench.

Where do Man Utd go from here?

  13. Postpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time

Manchester United had 78% possession over the last 15 minutes of that match.

The big problem for Ruben Amorim to solve is that they did not look like they had a clue what to do with the ball.

  14. Spurs win eases pressure; Brentford wastefulpublished at 16:01 Greenwich Mean Time

They may have abandoned their brand of 'Angeball'; but what a win for Tottenham.

It was a backs against the walls, smash-and-grab victory away at the Brentford Community Stadium - with an own goal from Vitaly Janelt summing up this scrappy affair and a Pape Sarr finish sealing victory in the dying moments.

Thomas Frank will wonder just how his team haven't scored but Spurs did defend admirably, especially considering they are without 10 senior players today.

It lifts the pressure on the club as Spurs look to defend their 1-0 lead away at Anfield in the second leg of the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

Two steps forward and two steps back.

When they come and play in the Premier League it's difficult for Man Utd. They're not at the standard which other teams are.

It official, this is the worst United side for 30 years. How this squad cost over £700m and has one the highest weekly salaries is hilarious to me.
