    BBC Sport football news reporter

There was a stark contrast between Nottingham Forest and Chelsea's stars before kick-off.

Groups of players did their traditional walk around an empty stadium before kick-off but the Forest ones had been laughing and joking, whereas Chelsea's either had their headphones on or took phone calls.

Chelsea are in a much better position to qualify for the Champions League than Forest but also face much more weight of expectation.

The romantic side of me would love to see Nottingham Forest do it, to get Champions League football.

They were in third for so long this season but I feel Man City, Newcastle and Chelsea will be how it ends.

Skipper Ryan Yates admits Nottingham Forest will be disappointed if they miss out on the Champions League but must keep their season in perspective.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have sat third in the Premier League for a large part of the season but go into the final day against Chelsea in seventh, just a year after survival on the final day last term.

They have already qualified for Europe and reached the FA Cup semi finals and, even though Yates wants more, he remains realistic.

"Yes, there'd be a tinge of disappointment (not to make the Champions League), just because of how long we've been up there in the top four or top five," he told BBC Sport.

"But you also have to be really realistic at the same time and know how difficult the Premier League is, the fine margins. There's been some incredible experiences for me and many, many players in the dressing room.

"I can only speak on behalf of my own emotions but there will be a slight disappointment.

"We wanted to win the FA Cup and have secured Champions League but football isn't as easy as that."

Facing Wolves on the final day, Brentford can still make it to Europe for the first time in the club's history.

They will finish eighth if they get a win at 14th-placed Wolves and Brighton, who currently occupy eighth, lose at Europa League champions Tottenham.

An eighth-placed finish, which would represent a best-ever Premier League campaign for the Bees, could also potentially help them sneak into the Conference League.

But for that to happen, they will need Chelsea to finish outside of the European places in the league and the Blues to win the Conference League final against Real Betis on Wednesday.

Chelsea, as usual looking toothless upfront and unlikely to score the goals needed to qualify for CL. Truth is they blew this after Christmas when this team lacked the character to beat some very easy opponents.

Jack Grealish's omission and the likes of Phil Foden and Emile Smith Rowe being on the bench means this game sees no English players in either starting eleven.

It is only the third game in Premier League history to see as such, after Portsmouth v Arsenal in December 2009 and Arsenal v Chelsea in January 2019.

No-one is being allowed in Manchester United’s megastore at Old Trafford.

The noisy protest has made its way to the front of the stadium.

A line of police are manning barricades, with another line across the entrance to the store reinforced by security staff.

The protest is peaceful at the moment and the message is clear. They want the Glazers out.

The issue is the debt they lodged against the club when they bought it and the associated costs to service it for the past 20 years.

The club currently owes around £1bn through various forms.

I’ve just spoken to some Southampton fans who are already in the ground and have heard the confirmation that Will Still will be their new manager.

Two words came up in conversation a few times, “innovative” and “patience”.

Their overall happiness at the appointment comes from the feeling he has been innovative in his previous management role in France, and his tactical thinking and player acquisition skills could be a good asset.

But, some of those I spoke to are urging fellow Saints fans to be patient with him, and give him the time to rebuild and get the club back to the Premier League.

One fan said he’d be happy with a consolidation season in the Championship before going again.

That may be a minority view. But, there is a desire for him to have time and not to panic if they’re not chasing for promotion from the start of next season.

    Newcastle v Everton (16:00 BST)

No Everton player will want to upset Newcastle’s Champions League party more than Sunderland fan Jordan Pickford and he’s been named Captain today, just to add a little more spice to proceedings after yesterday’s Play-Off final.

It’ll be worth keeping an eye out for his antics.

But the Newcastle fans are more focused on the great news that Alexander Isak is back after his groin injury.

In the programme Eddie Howe has called on the fans to give it one last push, saying “give it everything and we’ll give you everything back on the pitch.”

  13. Guardiola confirms Grealish omission purely a 'selection' decisionpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 25 May

Fulham v Man City (16:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Speaking before today's game, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was asked the reason behind leaving Jack Grealish out of his matchday squad.

Guardiola simply shook his head and said "selection".

On whether it was difficult to start Kevin de Bruyne on the bench for his final game with the club, he added: "Always it is, with him especially. But it's 95 minutes and a tough game, physical, and maybe I decide I prefer Kevin for a few minutes at the end than at the beginning."

  15. 'Garnacho is a Manchester United player'published at 15:33 British Summer Time 25 May

Manchester United v Aston Villa (16:00 BST)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim on Alejandro Garnacho's omission from today's matchday squad: "He is a Manchester United player that is not in the squad today but he continues to be a Manchester United player."

On whether Garnacho will go on the post-season tour: "Yes, everyone is going. We have to go to meet our fans and to give something to our fans from the other side of the world."

On Shaw, Yoro and Onana omissions: "Luke Shaw has a problem in his foot, Leny the same thing - two games before he had an issue and we want to protect the future of our clubs. Altay (Bayindir) is getting some time to a goalkeeper to experience football matches."

Taste of things to come for Everton goalkeeper - and today's captain - Jordan Pickford, as his name is roundly booed by Newcastle fans when it is read out at St. James' Park.

Not sure much will upset Pickford's mood after his beloved boyhood club, and former team, Sunderland returned to the Premier League by winning yesterday's Championship play-off against Sheffield United at Wembley.

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (16:00 BST)

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Other than the Trent Alexander-Arnold situation, it's been really plain sailing for Liverpool.

They've kept their players fit most of the season,. They've played really well.

For me, tactically, technically, physically other than Newcastle, they've been by far and away the best team in the league I've seen. Some of the football they play has been brilliant.

It's a bit of a warning shot to a lot of the other clubs in the Premier League [links to strengthening the squad]. Man City have had a real off season, went through a really terrible patch and the other clubs will have to get going in the transfer market to get close to Liverpool.

  20. Wolves and Bees fans have 'plenty of optimism'published at 15:28 British Summer Time 25 May

    Wolves v Brentford (16:00 BST)

    Naz Premji
    Final Score at Molineux

Two teams with two managers who have had cracking campaigns.

Let's start with Vitor Pereira, when he arrived Wolves were favourites for relegation and in deep trouble. Not only did he steady the ship but he galvanised his team to secure their top flight status with several games to spare.

Now Thomas Frank, the Bees boss continues to work his magic on a Brentford side who could with victory today secure a first European campaign. Brentford's model continues to prove that smart recruitment and a solid set up across the whole club can harness long term success.

Fans can enjoy this final game and both clubs can look ahead to the summer with plenty of optimism.
