Ruben Amorim looks like a man who is missing the beautiful city of Lisbon. Perhaps United are struggling to see each other against the red in the crowd?

Andre Onana is keeping Manchester United in this as he pushes away Tyler Dibling's rasping drive.

This has been a superb first-half display by Southampton.

    Kaoru Mitoma (59 mins)

We have a goal here finally and it's the visitors who lead.

Yasin Ayari, released down the right by Joel Veltman, finds Matt O'Riley in the middle.

An unmarked O'Riley unselfishly squares it for Kaoru Mitoma, who slots it into the goal through the gloves of Christian Walton to make it 1-0.

    Ipswich 0-0 Brighton

Jens Cajuste's long throw into the box creates problems for the Brighton defence.

Jan Paul van Hecke's weak clearance falls kindly for Wes Burns, who drags his first-time effort wide.

    They do deserve it, Southampton.

A flick on at the near post, Tyler Dibling might just get in front of Lisandro Martinez and he flicks it into an area full of bodies.

The keeper can do nothing, Andre Onana cannot react quick enough.

  6. goal

GOAL - Man Utd 0-1 Southamptonpublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

Manuel Ugarte own goal (43 mins)

You cannot say it hasn't been coming!

Southampton take the lead as a corner is flicked on and the ball deflects off Manuel Ugarte's back and into his own net.

Huge for Saints, disastrous for Manchester United.

  7. 'Definite yellow card'published at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Ipswich 0-0 Brighton

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea & Fulham goalkeeper on 5 Sports Extra

It is a yellow card. Joao Pedro has the right to close the goalkeeper Christian Walton down but it's a body check straight into the goalkeeper.

It's a definite yellow card, there's no doubt about it.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Ipswich 0-0 Brighton

Jacob Greaves passes the ball back to his goalkeeper Christian Walton, who is under pressure from Joao Pedro.

The Ipswich custodian manages to get the ball off his feet, but feels the full force of the follow-up from Pedro, who goes into the referee's book.

    Ipswich 0-0 Brighton

Simon Adingra does well to bring a cross under his control in the box and shoots on the turn.

But Jacob Greaves throws himself in front of the shot and denies the Brighton attacker.

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

It hasn't been happening as often as Manchester United fans would like but the hosts do look a danger when they get the ball to Amad Diallo on the right. He's delivered a couple of dangerous low crosses that have been dealt with, but only just.

As a Southampton fan it's going to be so frustrating when we lose, but a great performance so far & proof that Russel Martin's 'philosophy' was total garbage.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Ipswich 0-0 Brighton

That's naughty from Liam Delap as he shoves Joel Veltman from behind in an off-the-ball incident.

The referee produces the yellow card after being advised to do so by the assistant.

  13. Postpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Nine minutes to go until half time and Manchester United have their first shot on target, but it is an easy save for Aaron Ramsdale as he scoops up Bruno Fernandes' strike from distance.

Kamaldeen Sulemana drops a shoulder on Leny Yoro and ran in behind brilliantly.

Sulemana could have gone down, a tackle come in from Lisandro Martinez - if Sulemana went down that would have been a penalty.

  15. Postpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

A seventh attempt of the game for a confident Southampton, but this could have been a fantastic goal as Kamaldeen Sulemana spins his marker on the flank and races towards the box, skips a couple of challenges but then curls his effort just over.

Are Manchester United still playing with 10 men since Sunday at the Emirates? Southampton are being afforded an incredible amount of space.

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at Old Trafford

Manchester United do not keep the ball for long enough. Their passing has not been good enough and they are not close enough to each other to limit the space for Southampton's players to run into.

    Apart from that.....

Southampton fans should certainly be encouraged by how their side has played so far in this half. Only a fantastic double save by Andre Onana has kept them out.
