Ugarte and Mainoo are kinda lost at the moment in that midfield. Southampton is bossing them around.

One of the best double saves you will ever see.

Outstanding play from Tyler Dibling, socks down and his style is so graceful.

Ivan Juric is so animated, he is up and down.

He has been so excited by what his team have nearly accomplished - Southampton should be ahead.

    Superb from Andre Onana! Superb.

Tyler Dibling gets away from Lisandro Martinez and drives into the box, his low strike is denied by Onana, who somehow then keeps out Mateus Fernandes on the follow up.

Utterly bizarre that people think United are back or improving because they choose to only turn up against their former rivals. What a horrendous mentality.

There's a check for a possible Manchester United penalty as Kyle Walker-Peters's hand touches the ball inside the box, but he was nudged by Amad Diallo and the check is complete without a spot kick given.

  7. Heading for a stalemate this one?published at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    HT: Ipswich 0-0 Brighton

Brighton have drawn all four of their Premier League games that have been level at half-time this season.

Ipswich, meanwhile, have drawn four and lost four of their eight games that were level at the break during their 2024-25 campaign.

Southampton's defence is living dangerously as Kobbie Mainoo is allowed to run onto Bruno Fernandes' superb ball into the box. Mainoo cuts the ball back, looking for Alejandro Garnacho, but a Saints defender is able to clear before Amad Diallo's shot flies well over.

That was awful from Alejandro Garnacho.

Ruben Amorim had his head in his hands, Rasmus Hojlund kicked a post in frustration.

They both know Garnacho should score.

The Argentine gets into great positions but he is wasteful. It has been a constant theme of this season.

Amorim has admitted his side does not score enough goals. That's another one gone.

Good work by Amad Diallo on the right. It looks like the chance for a cross is gone as he has Southampton players around him but he does well to get the ball across only for the visitors scramble clear before winning a free-kick.

It has to be a goal.

Brilliant play from Rasmus Hojlund, spinning in behind and he has the pace on all three Southampton defenders.

He cuts it back into the path of Alejandro Garnacho, seven yards out and a really poor finish.

Oh a big chance for Manchester United!

Great pace from Rasmus Hojlund to get into the box. The shot is on but he cuts it back for Alejandro Garnacho, who has to get his shot on target, but sends it wide of the far post.

Ipswich have switched on more in the last 15 minutes of the first half. They have come into the game and created more chances.

They've really forced Bart Verbruggen into some good saves.

Ipswich are certainly the more threatening [team] going forward.

That's how simple it can be. Someone making a run in behind.

Rasmus Hojlund spins and runs in behind into the channel. Much better from Man Utd.

Here come Southampton again! Mateus Fernandes driving forward with the Manchester United defence backing off, allowing the Southampton man to get a shot off but it is straight at Andre Onana.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Ipswich 0-0 Brighton

Brighton made the better of starts in this game, but it's Ipswich who have created the better of chances.

They have made Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen work on a couple of occasions through efforts from Nathan Broadhead and Omari Hutchinson.

But it remains all square at the halfway point at Portman Road.

Already going to be a long night for United. Unforced errors and already playing and starting from so deep. Southampton already pressing and holding the ball better.
