  7. 'It's a pinch me moment'published at 22:19 British Summer Time 2 October

FT: Aston Villa 1-0 Bayern Munich

    Aston Villa

Villa forward Morgan Rogers told TNT Sports: "Surreal - the atmosphere, the occasion, playing one of the biggest teams in world and competing like this."

On his rise: "Been a bit mad, that's how quick football can change. I've always believed in myself. Be patient and the time will come. Luckily I found a manager who believed in me.

"I was probably in my shell when I came, trying to fit in. He gives me that confidence and belief in my ability.

"We knew they were going to have more of the ball so it was about trying to hit them on the counter.

"It was about allowing them to have the ball in certain areas but when it's in midfield we have to be at it.

"This is why I play football. This is the pinnacle, it means everything to me. It's a pinch me moment but I have no time to sit and dwell on it."

On the dressing room: "Wild. Madness. it was a bit crazy but then the manager started talking about Wednesday."

On Jhon Duran: "When he came to the club I didn't have a clue he was 20. The way he plays, he's such a handful for defenders. When he comes on with all that energy. He knows he'll get that chance and backs himself 100%. He's a great lad.

"Every game is exactly the same. He's the most chilled, relaxed person I've ever met. He's a different animal when he's playing."

What an incredible goal from Jhon Duran and then Villa really had to work at it. Emi Martinez made a couple of wonderful saves, none more so than that last second save from Harry Kane's header. Huge moments.

It was a rearguard action for most of the evening but Villa get a huge scalp, as in 1982 and it is another night to remember for these fans.

I can't even hear myself in this place.

On Mo Salah: "He's a player that helps us a lot, sometimes it looks like he’s not in the game but suddenly a perfect touch, he puts the ball in the top corner. That’s his quality, his strength as well.

Emi Martinez has won the World Cup and Copa America and played huge parts in both of those triumphs and he has to be considered as one of the best keepers in the world. Villa are very lucky to have him.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez speaking to TNT Sports: "It's unreal to be fair. This is the loudest Villa Park that I've heard since I joined the club, that's for sure, it was hurting my ears at some point. It's a club that is moving forward. It's the main reason why I stay in this football club. I love playing here, I love the fans, this is a win for them."

On Harry Kane: "You know with Harry Kane, you know that he's always going to hit on target at some point in the game so I've working a lot with moving and making saves."

On defence: "We are committed [more] defensively Champions League, we need to transmit that into the Premier League now, we are conceding some sloppy goals in the Premier League, we need to find that balance, we know we can keep clean sheets so we move on from here."

On Jhon Duran: "He came back with a different mentality this season. He's willing to work hard, he's pushing Ollie all the way, they can play together he's a super sub, the first time he touched the ball, he lobbed Neuer, one of the best goals in history."

On the result: "It's a statement, there's still a lot to play. We want to qualify in the first eight, in the top eight, it's one step at a time, we've got Bologna at home now in our second game, we are probably more relaxed but we want to win every game."
